Hello...my daughter is getting married in the Music Hall on embarkation day January 18, 2019.

We both have sailed on this ship multiple times but I was curious to see the wedding set up in the Music Hall.

If you can not post pictures here, kindly email them to me @karmavacations@yahoo.com.

Thank you in advance as there is nothing online showing this venue during a wedding

    Hi,

How did your daughters embarkation day wedding turn out?  My daughter is also planning an embarkation day event.  I'm curious how you carried on favors, and other decorations.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!  🙂

  2. Capt. advised passengers of an increase of passenger visits to the doctor's office regarding Noro. Passengers with any sympthoms should immediately go to the doctor's office to be checked out. No charge for the visit. Also, he advised that we would be seeing more vigorous cleaning throughout the ship (which we did in the buffet area especially).

Since it was near the end of the sailing and I wasn't feeling the greatest, didn't really have an appetite and had some of the sympthoms I decided to get checked out. Filled out the CDC Forms. Never confirmed it was "noro" but referred to as gastro intestenial and that I had a "lot of activity" in my stomach area. Since I wear Sea Bands on voyages the doctor said that is probably why I did not have vomiting but only the rear. I was considered to be in "isolation" meaning I was not to leave my cabin. I was given Pedalite to hydrate (ugly stuff!) and anti diarreah pills. Room service would be free and I could select free one movie to watch. I was given a guideline sheet of what food to eat. My dinner consisted of white rice, whole wheat toast, apple sauce and 2 bottles of water. No wonder there was no charge! Everything arrived on a plastic tray with the food in cardboard (not paper) plates in shrink wrap with plastic utensils.

Never having experienced this before I had no idea what to expect. My cabin mate who had some rear problems too was not asked to see the doctor nor was she confined to our cabin. Our cabin was to be disinfected (not sure what they did while we were at the doctor's office). Needless to say, I missed the last dinner and Spectra's Cabaret. Our luggage was not to be put outside with everyone else's but someone would pick it up at 10 PM. Too bad we did not know this before we put it out and I had to take it back inside. Our luggage was even in a separate area in the Bayonne Terminal which we assumed held the other infected passengers' luggage. Had one more rear bout before leaving the ship. I am very glad it happened at the end of the sailing and that I did not miss any more of the trip than I did.:( One bright point, RCL delivered a letter stating that I would receive a "credit" due to the miss portion of the sailing. Since I used a TA, she will get the details. For me, it seems that RCL assumed full responsibility that Noro was present on the ship. But I would rather not have been a victim.;)

Happy to say, slowing starting to feel more "normal" now that I have been home a few days.

Not a pleasant experience at all. My husband had it on the Explorer several years ago and had to remain in the cabin. We were also on the 10/28 Anthem sailing and my husband and daughter both experienced symptoms the morning we disembarked. Made a trip to the medical center, completed the forms and received medication.

Didn't spoil the wonderful time we had!

  3. We were in 6236. This was a room immediately off of the elevator lobby. We never had any noise issues. I think part of that is the room door not being flush with the hallway, but in a little alcove. We also bring a white noise machine with us, so that might help. The balcony view is unobstructed, but you are immediately above an outdoor public area on deck 5. The only time that we ever saw people there was during sail away. I believe that the rest of the balcony cabins (or at least a majority of them) are obstructed views due to the lifeboats.

I should also mention that junior suite category rooms will get you WOW bands included in your room. On a side note, other than to enter/exit the room we didn’t really use them. If Royal was more serious about it, I think you would see the RFID scanners on the bar tops, etc.

Thanks for the info. I've been on deck 6 before and never had any noise from deck 5. Got a little concerned when you mentioned the shower not draining - that's why I asked which cabin! Also have used the WOW bands to enter the cabin and sign into the slot machines.

  4. Peter Cocheko(spelling?) on Anthem. Best server, friend now, we have had on 15cruises. Maria, our bartender in Boleros, over the top fantastic.

Jose on Liberty, best cabin steward ever, wish I could find his last name.

Abe is a great CD as is Dru but Leigh and Erky from Turkey were the best sad they are gone.

Miss Leigh and Erky! They were a great team

  5. Like she calls herself Suzy Q . She is the best. Have sailed 3 times with her. On the Brilliance, Serenade and most recently on the Anthem. We are now friends on FB, so we keep in touch regularly.

Love Suzy Q. Met her on the Anthem last May and she was AWESOME!

Do you know if she is still on the Anthem? Hoping to see her on our next cruise

  6. Thanks for all the replies!

I am flying in from Rochester NY (1 hour flight) so delays shouldn't be an issue. I agree that an earlier flight would be preferable but at the time I booked the flights I didn't realize Anthem left at 3:00 PM; more used to 5:00 or 6:00. Live and learn.

Do you feel I will have any problem getting a taxi to the pier?

    Thanks guys!

While it is only a 1 hour flight - you never know if you may encounter weather or mechanical issues. Cabs should be plentiful at EWR airport, but traffic on the NJ turnpike can be a nightmare. Of course chances are you will make it on time. Personally I wouldn't subject myself to that stress!

Good luck and enjoy your cruise! Anthem is a wonderful ship

  7. I recently expedited our passport renewal.

Sent priority mail on Wed 3/8

Received by passport agency Fri 3/10

We received our renewed passports via priority mail on Saturday 3/18.

I was very surprised at how fast we received them since the web site advises 2-3 weeks.

Renewal was 110. - expedite fee was an additional 60. per passport and an additional charge to have all returned via priority. Worth every penny for peace of mind. :)

Sorry - this doesn't really address your question. But if you decided to expedite - I just wanted to share my experience :)
