  1. Explorer has left Bermuda @6:00 our time.

Looks like she is under her own power.

    Hi Dick,

I should be hearing from Dana soon.

When we were in Bayonne on Saturday for sail away there were two dive company trucks on the pier. I thought that was a little odd and sure enough shortly after sail away Dana contacted me to tell me about the announcement the captain made.

    Say hello to Mari!

  2. My daughter is on board right now. Last update I heard from her was earlier this afternoon. Captain announced they may be leaving Bermuda at 7 a.m Tuesday morning. She also told me that she spoke to a passenger currently on the Dawn and they may be leaving at 6 a.m.

Propulsion problem caused the late arrival this morning. Hopefully they were able to fix the problem.

  3. We took inside passage cruise in and out of Vancouver. We flew into Seattle, and spent the night. We purchased round trip bus transfers from Seattle airport to the pier in Vancouver. Celebrity Cruises allowed the purchase of their transfers even though we booked the air on our own.

So you may want to ask RCI if this is possible.

The bus trip was about 1 1/2 - 2 hours if memory serves me correctly and it was a beautiful ride. The scenery was magnificent and they also made a rest stop. Time permitting I wouldn't hesitate taking the scenic bus route again.

  4. WOW!

NORO? Yup - happens on cruise ships, hotels, schools, and DAYCARE centers /NURSERY schools. You expressed concern that the Explorer had a Noro outbreak months ago? That shouldn't concern you anymore than sending your child to daycare or taking a trip to the mall! Exposure to Noro and a whole host of contagious diseases can happen anywhere!!!

I felt bad at first with the mix-ups you experienced regarding your cabin assignment but now you seem to be looking for any possible reason to not go on this sailing.

Why even exert anymore energy fighting with Royal if you've already moved the funds out of your checking/debit account and are booking the competition? Case should be closed -

Every ship, every cruise line has good, bad, and indifferent. You will find this out for yourself now that you've discovered Cruise Critic.

This should really be the least of your problems - just move on and enjoy whatever cruise you decide to take.

  5. Are there any plans with AT&T that allow you to use your cell phone on board the cruise ship without paying a fortune? I see so many people using their phone and wonder about this?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

AT&T offers a plan. The rate is not outrageous and there are 3 different options. One for phone, one for phone and text and one for phone, text, and data usage. You can find the packages on their web site.

  6. Great review! I have enjoyed reading from the start! We've been on the Explorer many times and going again this week and I love reading what others have experienced, enjoyed, hated, loved about their cruise!

Thanks so much for sharing! And you're right about the Dawn looking like a bus! LOL! Went on the Dawn once ....and normally when we like a ship we return. Nuff said? I will give Kudos to NCL Breakaway though - might not be attractive on the outside but that ship is beautifully appointed on the inside. BUT we still love the Explorer MORE! :D

  7. Nothing quite as revealing or exciting in my next installment .. its pretty Bermuda pics tho!

Thanks for the encouragement to keep my review going .. i'm getting a lukewarm response overall so far :( .. but I so appreciate the nice comments I've gotten !

The next installment will be up tmrw night ... these things are alotta work, no ?!

I am looking forward to your next installment! I think you have done a great job and I can't wait to see your pictures and read more. :D And yes - these things are a lot of work! The time you have spent is appreciated!!!! :D

  8. We're just Gold so I cant say for sure where the Diamond Event was but I think I saw it in a roped off area of the Viking Crown Lounge (that's Cloud Nine, right?) ... not 100% sure on that one tho.

Didn't do the Meet & Mingle because we were with a pretty big family group ... and it was already a handful keeping track of our own group! LOL

Thanks so much! Sounds like you had a great time! Can't wait for more...........helps pass the time till its our turn!

  9. Hi, Happy to hear that you had a good cruise.

Do you know where the nightly diamond event was held? Past experience it has been in the 19th hole, however some people have reported recently that it was held in Cloud 9. The location can vary so that is why I'm interested in knowing where it was held on your sailing.

Did you attend the Meet & Mingle? If so, how was it?

Thanks for reporting back - looking forward to your report and pictures.

  10. Personally, I think it should be the same on every ship for Diamond, as it is for D+, regardless of whether or not they have a designated D lounge. I remember too, when Diamond couldn't even have soda, just wine or champagne.

I forgot they had the drinks on the seapass card in March. We had friends on that cruise too. I have friends on the Explorer now. Can't wait to see what they were offered as Diamond.

    Gwen :)

Please report back to us regarding what your diamond friends were offered on this current cruise. Thanks!:D
