  1. One (I think) final comment. As planned I took a PCR test Friday, 7 days after leaving QM2 and it came back yesterday afternoon as negative. I have definitely completed this cruise covid-free. Roy
  2. I have a sunset today; it's from my 2008 Rovos Rail journey from DarEsSalam to Capetown. The sunset July 18 came our final day before reaching Victoria Falls Symphony has taken a huge lead over Serenity and is now in the Med. Appears she went straight through without getting anywhere near Endeavor. Roy

  4. Talk about hot. Sounds like a good thing you are not in London. Roy
  5. Thank you for the Monday report, Rich. We need to do more listening. I love the Victor Hugo quote. Been to Kodiak several times on both Crystal and the ferry system. Great to see Westie doing 20kt this morning after a brief azipod failure. I'll pass on both the sour candy and the Guacamole. 6. Sounds like about a half hour late. Hope it's fixed but if not they can hopefully still salvage a decent cruise. Roy
  7. Just curious, has anyone wondered what things are like on the Volendam? How and where are meals served. Have public rooms been converted to bunk space. What do they have to occupy their time? Also wonder how much they will need to do to get the ship back ready for service. Roy
  8. IIRC we had at least one person (lecturer I think) who was on Hilton Head, couldn't get to the ship in the storm, and didn't board until Key West. Roy
  9. Two days ago I had a sunrise from the Westbound Canadian near Saskatoon. Today's is from the Eastern Canadian at Saskatoon. Not exactly the sunrise itself but the sun reflecting off the side of the train as it emerges July 17, 2005. Roy

  11. @Crazy For Cats wishing you a great 2 years leading up to that BIG anniversary. Roy
  12. Thank you for the Sunday Report Rich, and Graham for the message of the week. Love the Keller quote. I'm not into Emoji's and amused by stories of Wrong Way Corrigan, but will definitely celebrate Ice Cream Day. Been to Shimizu twice, 2004 on Crystal Harmony and 2017 on MS Amsterdam. Crispy Chicken is delicious but oh the fat. My alternative is Beef and Vegetable Soup, Braised Lamb Shank, and Cherries Jubilee as served on MS Rotterdam VI July 17, 2011. 13. Actually, not the OP but the complainer in chief. Roy
  14. I just can't like this. That is WAY too hot for the frozen tundra. Roy
  15. That was 2018. I fortunately boarded in Fort Lauderdale. Roy
  16. One thing that concerns me about the Zaandam is that balconies are at a premium, all either Vista or Neptune suites. I wonder what happens to people who catch Covid. Roy
  17. I'm not sure what the exact situation but Westerdam is now off Vancouver Island at 17 knots. I think at that speed she could (if repairs could not be made this weekend). I suspect (but do not know) that Westie's missed and shortened port stays were made to facilitate a diagnosis and marshall what is needed to create a fix on Sunday. The shortened call in Victoria could even be done to get the ship to Seattle extra early so divers can be in the water at the crack of dawn. Do not know this but just a guess based on what I see. Roy
  18. Today's sunrise is a screen grab I took one year ago today but didn't use then. It's from the Crystal Serenity Panoflex camera somewhere in the Bahamas. Roy

  20. Thank you for the Saturday report Rich. Not a fan of any of today's day but that's just me. I love the Azimov quote. Been to Whittier just once, on the Alaska ferry Kennicott.
