  3. It's a chilly, windy morning on Adventure of the Seas. Tanya just mentioned "over 3000" guests on board so I'm assuming the number is fairly close above that number. Day 6, Thursday, May 26, 2022, Turnaround Day, Bayonne(Part 2, back on board) Having missed boarding with the rest of the B2B people I had to wait for general boarding to begin but it was timed almost perfectly with boarding called barely seconds after I cleared security. This time the new muster station worked for me as my seapass scanned perfectly for station B11. It was still too early to do a lot as the letter said I could access my new stateroom at 11:30 so I grabbed a cup of coffee at Café Promenade and hung out in the Imperial Lounge until then. My new room (6282) is virtually identical to the old one. There are 3 power outlets at the desk, 2 120V us outlets on the left side,, and a single 240V European one on the right side. My bags were not there but there were an array of papers on the bed including a Canada Customs Declaration which I filled out and left in the drawer. US Power European power There was a lunch for Consecutive Cruisers at noon in the Sapphire Dining room. I chose the Spaghetti All’ Arrabbiata and NSA vanilla ice cream. When the rooms were officially open I returned to my cabin and my bags were waiting inside. Unpacking went significantly quicker than the first leg. There was one further hitch. Security called about 3:30 and said I was not shown as onboard. I don’t remember being formally scanned at a gangway but I would have thought the scan at the muster station would have been enough. A few minutes later a security guy came up to my room for a face to face verification. I think we are officially due to leave about 3:30 but Captain Jared indicated it would be more like 5. I went down to deck 4 around 4:45 and there was still a gangway out on deck 1. No activity when I headed to the Dining Room at 5:15. About 5:30 Captain came back on and indicated we now had a medical emergency and were waiting for an ambulance. I saw from the dining room window we started moving about 6:05. I’m moving up a bit in the dining world. Instead of my former table on Deck 3 I am now at Table 422 on Deck 4. It’s an 8-top with a gal from Connecticut, a couple from Dallas, and 2 local couples. My new waiters are Glen and Chenee. My choices for the first night were the Garden Salad, Prime Rib, and Key Lime Pie. The welcome aboard show featured comedian Rodney Jackson. I thought Rick Corso was a lot better. As a parting shot Thursday was a rough day for cruise ships between the Royal Caribbean striking a pier and the Carnival ship catching fire. I am thankful that neither turned into a major disaster but a good reminder of why we do those drills. Roy
  4. Thank you for the TGIF Daily, Rich. I'll salute sunscreen and No Fry days but fortunately cancer has spared my hair so no wigs. I like the quote. Been to Pago Pago in 2018 on the Crystal Symphony. The meal sounds interesting. 5. Day 6, Thursday, May 26, 2022, Turnaround Day. Bayonne(Part 1, disembarkation) I was up a little before 5 and on deck for a beautiful sunrise at 5:30 followed by pausing for a shot of the now vacant main pool deck. I watched from my balcony as we passed under the bridge and then continued stowing my last minute items. When I went up to the WJ I paused for a photo of the hand washing station that drives me crazy. Not sure exactly when we physically arrived at the dock but a bunker barge came alongside about 8. The meeting point for B2B cruisers was the Imperial Lounge on Deck 5 forward. I went down about 8:30 after seeing that the other groups meeting. There was a nice setup of drinks and pastries waiting for us. A staff member came around checking each of us in. Not sure if it was people or cabins but the number she was looking for was 67. When everybody was accounted for we started with things normally handled in the muster drill including more or less detailed instructions on what to do and a life jacket demonstration. When all was ready we headed down to deck 4 and the gangway. We did not actually need to produce our passports but stopped in front of a facial recognition device to be admitted back into the US. We then congregated in the departure hall and were given our new seapass and in-transit cards. Final stop was a seating area in the departure hall where several crew members came around with tablets to ask the final health questions. I guess they needed to go “by the book” and had to see and scan our vaccination cards. Seems like a bit of overkill since we could not have been on the first leg without being vaccinated but procedure is procedure. When everything was done those who wanted to headed back to the ship while I went out to the port. My first stop was my car where I lightened my load a bit by dropping off things I would not need for the second leg like a bunch of dirty clothes. I noted that Port Liberty does have a facility for covid testing for people unable to get it from regular sources. It’s in a little cubbyhole in the arrivals building accessed from the sidewalk between the terminal and the parking garage. They say they do take walk-ins. I continued my time in the port by going over to the New Jersey 9-11 memorial, known as “The Tear Drop”. It stands right on the water between the terminal and the adjacent shipyard. It is a gift from Russia dating back to a bit friendlier time. It was also a nice spot for a good photo of the Adventure. Roy
  6. Duh. I have it on my list and didn't even see it. We will supposedly leave about 5PM. Not quite time to clear the bridge and get to dinner on time. Roy

  15. Since I won't be online meaningfully until I'm set up in my new room I'll preview the Thursday lists. @grapau27 I'll be thinking of you and may have a look at things on my IPAD-mini but if it calls for much of a response that will wait until I have a laptop running. 17. Day 5. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, At Sea, Adventure of the Seas I was up right at 5. Sunrise was officially 5:19 and I was on deck 4 early but did not really see decent evidence of it for almost another 20 minutes. I discovered that while you cannot walk around the ship on deck 4 it is possible to make a full loop by using stairs at the forward end and continuing around the bow on deck 5. The main part of my breakfast was a ham omelet at the WJ. I did briefly touch base with my new room steward. I’m a slow packer so most of my day was spent organizing things for the transfer to my new room. A number of things (like dirty clothes) will go out to my car and I will walk around the terminal area a bit before reboarding for the next leg. My final lunch of the segment was spaghetti and jello taken on a rather windy pool deck. There was a lot of noise from games going on. I thought it was the sexy man contest but that began just as I was leaving. I think it must have been Baggo. All the regulars were present at Table 308 for our final dinner together. The chap who had the toe problem still has foot pain but had a big win in the casino today. At the end of the meal there was a staff recognition and parade of waiters but no napkin waving, a pretty dignified final presentation. My choices were the (Kids) fruit cup, Braised Lamb Shank, and Apple Blossom A La Mode. The meal ran longer than normal and I was just in time for the 7PM Farewell show with some numbers by the cast and band and featuring the comedy of Rick Corso including some numbers with his guitar and harmonica. It’s the first time I have seen him perform and he was very good. After the show I got back to my room just in time to capture the setting sun from my balcony. I should be ready for bed with all but last minute items packed fairly early. My parting shot today will be a bit of a complaint. I am about to the point of hating the hand washing stations in the WJ with a passion. The staff is there making everybody use them, often slowing the flow into the room. All that is noble; it’s the machines themselves that drive me crazy. There are sinks with 2"handlebars” at the end of the faucets and a soap dispenser to the right side. The problem is everything is too close together. Once I have my soap I go for the water but 99% of the time I get not water to wash but a flow of air out of the handlebars to dry the soap residue on my unwashed hands. I’ve resorted to soaping my hands and awkwardly inserting one hand right at the back of the sink and slowly moving it forward. It’s very awkward but I haven’t found anything better and even that doesn’t always work. Sometimes I find I have slightly better luck moving to an adjacent sink but it is a Royal pain. There must be a better way. I know I’ve seen better options on other cruise lines. Roy
  18. You don't really need an app for ArriveCan. You can do it as a web site as well when it is all done you will get an email with the authorization codes. It's a bit of an extended process that you will need to follow. The detailed login link is on the last page of the turnover day letter I posted on my live thread. Once you set up the account you can load your vax details immediately but can only post your entry details about 3 days before your cruise or flight. My experience with Verifly is very poor. It's optional if you're boarding a HAL ship but I don't know what to tell you if you need to fly to your cruise. Roy

  23. Day 4, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Leave Bermuda(Part 2) I discovered to my chagrin that I had dropped my transit pass and needed to buy a token to get back to the ship ($4.60). The Number 7 bus follows South Road back to Dockyard and on the 50-minute journey we had several nice views of the sea. While the ferry staff barely looked at our transit pass the bus driver did and did all the validation punches quite diligently.. I strolled through the Clocktower mall after disembarking the bus and was back on the ship about 12:30. I was tired when I got back to the ship but not as bad as Monday and did watch the Pearl sail out of the harbor from my balcony. The Bermuda terminal has free wifi. I could not connect from my seaside balcony but did from the pool deck above the terminal. I am a big sailaway addict and did not want to let dinner interfere with watching our departure. All aboard was 5:30 and I went down to Deck 4 aft and watched as the gangway was pulled in about 5:50. Soon the last lines were pulled in and I walked across to the other side where a tug was standing by. By 6 we had completed most of our turn towards the exit and I headed up to deck 12 to watch the rest of our departure which for the most part was some distance from land. We got close to land about 7 near Fort St. Catherine and headed out to sea as I headed for dinner. I try to get to Chops once per cruise. When I looked at the app there was nothing until 9PM but I had stopped by and they said “We can take you at 7:15. I had the Caesar Salad, Petite Fillet, Mac & Cheese, and Red Velvet Cake. There were 2 showings of the production show “Invitation to Dance”. I went for the 9PM show and enjoyed what I saw of it but the show has been plagued with technical (lighting) problems and after the delay did not stay to the end. We gained an hour moving back to Bayonne time so I was in bed later than usual, around 11:30. My parting thought is one of horror for the events at Robb Elementary School. We need to do better. Roy
