  3. Thank you for the Friday Daily, Rich. I rode a bicycle for many years, including one ride from Baltimore to Montreal. I do not normally eat donuts except during the Ravens season. Dragon boats are pretty. Interesting quote by Hendrix. I have not been to Marquesas. Not sure about the meal. 7. Thank you for the Thursday Daily, Rich. I had flex time my last decade at work and would both arrive and leave early. Certainly appreciate my dentist but will pass on the moonshine and I think the meal. It's an interesting quote. I've been to Dover several times on Crystal but can't remember ever seeing HAL there. My only BHB from the UK was my first Prinsendam voyage from Tilbury. My alternative menu selection is Tropical Fruit Medley, Lamb Shank, and Upside Down Pear Crunch Coffee Cake as served on MS Prinsendam June 2, 2015. 8. Day 11, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Disembark and home I’ll start with a few photos of the ship I haven’t posted yet. They were taken while I was watching our approach to Halifax. I started out aft next to the Flowrider. While I will never get on one it was interesting to see it in use. I continued up the steps to the sports deck. There is a large court which can be used, among other things, for basketball and tennis. There is a deck 15 on the ship but it is tiny. The entire Deck 15 is the chapel, above the Viking Crown Lounge and there is no elevator. One of the staircases has a chair lift. My final morning I was up about 4:30 and was up on deck 13 to look for the sunrise. The early morning was chilly and windy and I walked 30 minutes on a combination of decks 4 and 13 until the sun came up. Sunrise was close enough to the 6AM opening that I hung around until they opened. My final meal before being on my own for food for all of June was a ham omelet. I did some final packing and internet work shutting down my computers about 7:30. I was able to squeeze everything into my small rolling bag and headed down to the Imperial Lounge at 7:45. My Number 12 tag (for Diamond+) was estimated to be called at 8:20. The actual calloff came at 8AM for all numbers through 44 (times through 8:30). There was some congestion at the elevators but the line to physically get to the gangway was quite short. As I got to the departure there were a number of porters standing by and I readily agreed to use one. She took my 27-pound carryoff bag and we easily located the 52-pound monster and she escorted me through immigration and out to the car. At that point things became a bit less easy. My porter cannot enter the garage and she left me at the entrance. There was only 1 working elevator and a long line in the elevator but I did manage to squeeze through and get to my car. Since being directed to the wrong lot at the beginning of the first segment I did not have a ticket to get out of the lot. There was an attendant at the ticket machines but he could not handle my issue and called for his supervisor. He took my credit card and went back to his office. When he returned I was ready to depart. I left the garage about 8:30. Since 1997 prostate surgery it is difficult for me to go very long without a bathroom stop. I ended up stopping at every rest stop on the NJ turnpike except one, stopped again in Delaware, and then a lunch stop a while north of Baltimore. After passing through the Baltimore I made 2 grocery stops in my own area, and walked in my door just after 2. While it was chilly when I first got out on deck by the time I was home it was over 90. I’ve been pretty busy since arriving home, but finally got to my guest survey Wednesday afternoon and have completed a negative home covid test. I’ll do another in a few days. I’m a small ship person at heart, although size isn’t everything (I found Allure better laid out than Adventure). I’ve now sailed every class of Royal ships except for Freedom Class and am not sure that’s in the cards. There were a number of issues on the cruise, primarily awkward tendering and likely staffing issues which may be related to a slow process for crew visas and over-worked and over-extended crews. My heart is still with the Vision and Radiance (and I miss Empress) classes but pretty much believe that any day at sea is better than a day on land. While I’m unlikely to return to Adventure and her sisters, I’m certainly thankful that I did so. Roy
  9. @D&N I'm usually either in Britannia or the theater when sunset comes. Love that one. Today's sunrise is from the aftermath of a May 2013 Blount Small Ship Adventures cruisefrom New Orleans to Tampa. On June 1 the sun came up while I was on Amtrak's Silver Meteor just south of Washington, DC: Roy

  12. Thanks. Somehow I missed that one. Fortunately, it's on my hard drive so it's in place now. Catching up on things deferred at home but I'll post on disembarkation when I can. Roy
  13. Yes, @MISTER 67, congratulations. Roy

  15. Thank you for the Tuesday Daily, Rich. I'm not a big fan of macaroons but do enjoy them occasionally. Saving hearing and being tobacco free are both great things to celebrate. I love the Carroll quote but do not think I've been to Kochi. I have no idea what the meal is. My alternative is Garden Salad, Roast Turkey, and Apple Blossom A la Mode, as served on Adventure of the Seas May 30, 2019. 20. Day 10 Monday, May 30, 2022, Final sea day, Adventure of the Seas I was up about 4:30. When I went on deck the skies were brightening up but it was a very windy and chilly day. I was treated to a beautiful sunrise off the back of the ship but then retreated to inside corridors for the remainder of my morning walk. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/dawn0530.jpg I’m not sure where the day went other than packing. As soon as Sugi finished making up my room I pulled out the big bag and experimented to get the heaviest stuff possible into it. In his final noon update of the voyage Captain Jared indicated our nearest land was Nantucket, 120 miles away. We were pretty close to the midpoint of our return with 288 miles since Halifax and 287 miles to go. High temperature today will be 59 and 88 tomorrow in New Jersey. We pick up the pilot at 5AM and sunrise will be 5:30. My final lunch on board was kept simple, bread, fries, and jello. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/lastlunch.jpg There was a 12:30 Memorial Day service on the Royal Promenade. There was a medley of service hymns by the orchestra, opening remarks by Tanya, and then the playing of Taps and a minute of silence. Tanya read “In Flanders Fields”, another medley of patriotic songs, and closed with Tanya singing “Hallelujah”. There was a very large gathering; I watched from deck 6 by the forward elevators. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/memorial.jpg Packing continued through the afternoon. I finally sealed up the monster about 5:30 and started chipping away at the rolloff bag. We had the usual 5 at table 422. It seems a bit ironic that while the others are primarily Royal Caribbean cruisers and cruise often I am the only one that’s Diamond+ . Love those double points for solos. My final choices were garden salad, roast turkey, and Apple Blossom Tart A la Mode. At the end of the meal we had the traditional farewell from the dining staff and said out sad goodbyes. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/dishes30.jpg The monster went out to the hallway about 7:20. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/monsterout.jpg Adventure is almost heading into the sun. It is just enough to the starboard side that after watching the events unfold on the bridge camera I was able to step out on my balcony to capture the actual event. https://getawaysfrom21044.files.wordpress.com/2022/05/dusk0530.jpg After one final cookie run to the WJ I think I am about done for the evening. As a parting shot I hope everyone (at least in the US) had a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. I do wonder a bit about my brother. While his death last year was not immediately a result of his service he (well over 6' tall) spent several years crawling through tight hatches and low ceilings on a nuclear submarine. His actual death was the result of a blood clot following surgery for a very sore back. I see the possibility of a chain of events starting with those tight spaces to back problems to complications of back surgery. Makes me wonder. Roy
