I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise from my 2019 Prinsendam Grand South America. On January 16 we left after an overnight in Lima. Roy

Well, I probably shouldn't have but did it anyway. I went outside, shoveled a path to the street and cleaned the snow off my car. Not sure if I would have done it normally (I shouldn't be working outdoors below 37F but do need to get to my radiation this afternoon so I'm ready for that. Roy- 104 replies

Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie from a cold and stormy Maryland. I think the closest thing to a dragon I have seen is Iguanas, will salute book publishers, but am not into spicy food. Interesting quote by Beckett. Two great dates in history to consider. I have been to Papeete several times including embarking Crystal Serenity there in 2011. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Canaletto Salad, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Pistachio Gelato as served in MS Prinsendam's Canaletto January 16, 2019: Roy- 104 replies

The interesting thing is that today we have about 4 inches in snow and it's the most in about 2 years, but in 2016 we got almost 3 feet the day I would have flown out of Baltimore. The only thing I saw of that storm was LONG lines at the customer service counter in Miami for people rebooking cancelled flights. My Miami-Buenos Aires flight was unaffected. Roy

What I forgot to mention is that while we don't usually get a lot of snow on the day I would have flown to Buenos Aires we got close to 3 feet. In the Miami airport I passed a VERY long line of people at a customer service desk trying to deal with missed flights, but I had a simple turnaround of what was basically a Buenos Aires-Miami-Buenos turnaround. Today's sunrise comes with a bit of a strange story. I was booked on a 32-day cruise on Symphony to Antarctica and back to Miami. I did not want to fly from Baltimore in the middle of winter to meet such a major cruise so I came up with a strange workaround, sailing Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton and connecting with Queen Victoria for the start of their World Cruise, Southampton to Fort Lauderdale. January 15 was a sea day from Ponta Delgada to Fort Lauderdale. Roy

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Dixie, Ann, and Debbie/Tina. With our current North American Weather Blue Monday seems appropriate but I'll pass on the other 2 days. I like the Adler quote. I have sailed to Albany NY (Blount) but not the one in Australia. Basketball and Royalty have come up a lot in our days in history. In addition, in 2009 Chesney Sulley Sullenburger landed US Airways flight 1549 in the Hudson behind the Manhattan Cruise Terminal with no loss of life. The meal sounds interesting. My alternative is Fresh Fruit with Peach Schnapps, Grilled Five Spice Lamb Chops. and Cherry Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam January 15, 2019. Roy- 85 replies

@richwmn, sorry to interrupt your flow but I just pulled up the PEV webcam. NS will sail soon, and AIS now shows a destination of St. Marteen, ETA 1/17 at 0815. If we can't get an itinerary, perhaps we can take it a port at a time. Roy

Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Ann, and Dixie. Bon Voyage @sailingdutchy. I was never good with kites, no pets to dress up but Caesarean Sections certainly have their place. I like the Berlin quote. I have not been to Fanning Island. No wonder I was having difficulty separating the Signature Sisters on the map, they will probably be pretty much in lockstep for the next few days. The Today show has certainly shown staying power. Not sure about the meal. My alternative is Fiesta Chicken Soup, Strip Loin Steak, and Peach Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam January 14, 2019: Winter, such as it is will be here for the next few days. Time to dig out my tuque and heavy gear. Seldom much above 0C this week. Roy- 81 replies

Friday was a day that I would happily forget. It started very early with a minor nose bleed that was quickly controlled. I left home about 7:15 to be ready for my 8AM annual physical with a checkin time of 7:45. When I arrived the door was locked with no sign of life. After waiting a bit I went to the practice main office. Apparently, the doctor had an emergency and would not be in the office until the 18th. It may actually be a good thing that it didn’t happen. I was back at my car just about 8. I should have had plenty of time for my weekly Friday run to Wegmans. As I got to the car my nose started to bleed again. After a few minutes I thought it was quieted enough to be ok for the trip to Wegmans. At Wegmans it was still bleeding but after about 15 minutes I thought I was ok finally. I got my groceries relatively quickly but when I checked in the car I was still bleeding. Another wait to get it under control. Once home I just got the groceries to my front porch and headed into the house, and spent another hour on bleeding control, still with no luck. By 11 I did the minimum to stow the groceries and decided I could not risk more futile efforts to stop it so I did the minimum to stow the groceries and headed off to my usual urgent care place. They tried for over an hour and finally pushed a device up the nostril and I was headed home about 12:30. I had just a quick lunch before I had to head off to Radiology. Fortunately, that and the followup with the doctor went more or less normally, but I was quite wasted by the time I got home and dozed off before 8, getting out of my recliner about 10;30 to head to actual bed. The urgent care said the device should stay in overnight and I should be able to remove it myself but to return if it did not come out easily. I waited until after my morning walk and the urgent care opening to make the attempt but fortunately it did come right out. It was sort of a sponge that expanded to fill the nostril attached to a couple of strings secured with tape. Roy- 80 replies
