  1. Does the Saint John schedule include berth assignments? Cruissetimetables shows the last cruise next year to be Jewel of the Seas on October 29. Roy
  2. Today's sunrise is not quite sunrise, but the predawn colors were very nice January 3, 2015 from MS Ryndam between Key West and Tampa. Roy

  4. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie/Tina, Ann, and Dixie. I'll definitely celebrate sleep, more ambivalent about the other 2 days. I LOVE the Peters quote. I have not been to Richards Bay. A sad day for da Vinci but great days for the US, Protestants, and Apple lovers. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Lebanese Lamb Shank and Baked Alaska, my last dinner on MS Ryndam January 3, 2015. Roy
  5. Today's Maps: Bon Voyage @Cat in my lap Your ship is waiting:\ Bon Voyage @ottahand7 your ship is waiting: Roy
  6. How did it compare in price to buying the ticket on your own? Roy
  7. Not the situation at all. It's the Passenger Vessel Services Act. not the Large Cruise Ship Act. It covers a LOT of operations in service including small cruise ships like Linblad and American Cruise Lines as well as Ferry Operations Harbor tour boats and probably a number of harbor boats and other services that escape my mind. I don't want the ferry from Delaware to New Jersey farmed out to some fly by night foreign operator who would overload it and care little about safety as shown by a number of horrific accidents world wide. Roy
  8. This is taken one year ago today from the start of my walk up the ramps of the parking structure and then inside the mall. It was a day warm enough for walking outdoors: Roy

  10. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Venessa, Dixie, Ann, and Tina. Meow day will be widely celebrated today, and I rarely go to buffets except on ships unless hotel breakfasts count. I'm a bit short on Inspiration today. Dangerfield had quite the sense of humor. A great day in history for India. I visited Casablanca just once, Wind Star in 2014. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Chilled Anjou Pear Soup, Parmesan Crusted Turkey Tenderloin and Tiramisu as served on MS Ryndam January 2, 2015. Roy
  11. Happy Birthday Sam and Happy Anniversary @RMLincoln. Roy
  12. I don't know if this is possible but if your friend(s) could pick you up from the Nieuw Statendam and return you to the Rotterdam later in the day your luggage could probably stay in their car. Roy
  13. If you can get potential flight numbers out of Flight Ease, go to seatguru.com and you can pull up a seating chart for your plane. On longer flights Premium Economy (each airline has it's own term) will likely have about an extra 5 inches of legrom and perhaps a few other perks. Long haul business class typically has a seat that can recline enough to almost serve as a bed. Roy
  14. In 2006 I had a cruise on Blount's smallest ship, the Niagara Prince, from Rhode Island to Lake Champlain. We docked at a marina a stone's throw from Ground Zero and I took the opportunity on our day there to visit Ellis Island. Here are a few photos: Roy
  15. Thinking of this community I've also seen on a occasion people who have never actually posted to Cruise Critic who take the time to hit "like" or "thanks" at times. Thank you to you as well. Roy
  16. Jacqui @kazu have agreed to a slight change to the Fleet Report and Daily. For most days she will post the Fleet locations without the maps and I will add the maps a little later. She contributes so much to cruise critic I think this will be a positive. Roy
  17. I have a sunrise today from my Sierra Madre Express Copper Canyon trip. We celebrated the millennium in an isolated scenic clifftop hotel away from electronics and all the trappings of modern life. Not really much of a view of the sun but I loved the view looking down on the hotel roof. Roy
  18. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa,Tina, Ann, and Dixie, and once again Happy New Year. No idea what first foot day is but I'll celebrate the Euro and Ellis Island. I find the quote interesting. I've been to Osaka twice, Crystal Harmony in 2004 and Amsterdam in 2017. The meal is interesting. My alternative is Orange and Avacado Carousel and Caribbean Jerk Chicken Breast, my first dinner of 2015 as served on MS Ryndam. I'll try adding today's maps with ship names again: Roy
  19. I don't know if a balcony is a must but on a Pinnacle Class you might also consider one of the Family Oceanview cabins. 2 bathrooms and lots of sleeping choices. https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/1021-nieuw-statendam/ Roy
