  1. I think many dailyites know I have a mini-Guardian emergency alert device. I knew it work at sea or in foreign ports so it did not go on the ship but I wanted to have it for my travel time. I wore it until I parked in Port Everglaldes and then powered it down, hoping that it would go well beyond the normal 3-day battery life if turned off. It did come back alive when I returned to my car and when I got to the hotel the battery was still 70% charged. Not bad. Roy
  2. Today's sunrise is from yesterday, taken from MS Rotterdam's ledo looking out over a somewhat cloudy Atlantic at Port Everglades. Roy

  5. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. I appreciate Small Business Saturday but will pass on the other 3 days. I love the Einstein quote. This is a great day in American history. I visited Melbourne as a service stop on the Indian Pacific in 2003 and again on Queen Mary 2 in 2020, the last major port of call before the cruise ended. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Chilled Spice Apple and Carrot Soup, Hpmey-Baked Ham, and Apple-Cranberry Crisp as served in Club Orange on MS Rotterdam Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023: Sunny now but rain is expected today. 6. Curacau, perhaps from the floating bridge? Roy
  7. Friday, November 24, 2023, Disembark MS Rotterdam, Fort Lauderdale, FL I was up just about 5 and on my balcony for the final sail-in to Port Everglades. My final meal on Rotterdam was a ham omelet and toast. The sun came up over the port while I was eating. My disembarkation window was 8:00 to 9:30 and I had originally thought 9 but decided I needed extra time and left with thanks to Gus and Aires about 8:20. I was probably not up to the amount of walking required, but got to the luggage ok and rested for a while on my big bag before calling for a porter. Unlike previous years there was no cut through for porters and we walked through the maze but the facial recognition re-entry was very easy. It was a longer walk to the car than I expected but my porter waited patiently while I took a break, about 3/4 of the way. We made it up to the elevators and my car was close by, he stowed my bags and I hope my gratuity was up to his kindness. I was out of the garage about 9:15. I’m at the Comfort Inn and Suites South in Dania. Checkin was at 3PM and I stopped at a Panera South of the hotel to kill some time. I made it to the hotel about 12:30 and of course the room was not ready and the lobby was quite crowded but I did get some work done on my laptop. The desk clerk was quite accommodating and called out to me that a room was ready about 1:45, and I started unloading the car. I left a little before 5 for a stop at Publix and dinner, returning about 6:15. I definitely felt the stress of the day and pretty much crashed about 8, but did not actually end up in bed until about 9. Roy
  8. Today's sunrise is actually just a bit of morning color from my balcony on MS Rotterdam. We were sailing from Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale and I thought headed North, but we were actually hugging the Cuba coast and a lot more westerly than I assumed. Roy

  10. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. Family health and unique talents certainly deserve celebration, not so much DB Cooper. I like the quote. I have been to a few South African ports but not to East London. Interesting quote and days on history. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Chicken Parmigiana, and Strawberry Ice Cream as served in MS Rotterdam's Club Orange November 22, 2023: Roy
  11. All along the top decks but nothing on the balconies. Thanks Leanne, Loy & Dave, and fellow addicts. Bon Voyage @Seasick Sailor, @Himself and @Niagarawine. Roy
  12. I think this is about as close as it gets to on time. Roy
  13. Good sign. After an inquiry from Rotterdam pilot is on the way. Roy
  14. Now Confirmed for 3PM but always subject to slippage. I won't be watching the sailaway if it's on time unless I'm actually in my room by them. Roy
