  1. But you don't now need to test for Palma or Dubrovnik, so you could book almost to the last minute if after 1st October
  2. We eventually booked Discovery on 11th October as the dates suited us best. Flying from EMA.
  3. Enjoy your cruise Dave, please let us know how it goes. We will be going in a month!
  4. I'm also interested but can't find any info for EMA. I think they may have done earlier in the season when there were queuing problems.
  5. Thanks, very useful. Done most of the city excursions and just want to wander around the ports taking in local sights and refreshments! I know many people don't like Naples but we loved walking round the local areas and found a street that was closed off with tables outside full of locals, had a delicious pizza and glass of wine for €6!!
  6. Many thanks, just what we thought. Been to Pisa and are quite happy to just meander if there's a nice water front and cafes. What did you think of Palermo? I'm guessing it's quite a busy port? We've been to Catania and really liked it so I guess it's similar. How was the rest of the cruise? This is one of the cruises we're looking to book in October.
  7. Don't know about regular football matches but we definitely saw England's world cup matches in 2018. One match was while docked in Newcastle but there were a couple of other matches while at sea, although I can't say whether we were near to shore or not.
  8. Can anyone please give information about this port? Don't want to visit Pisa again and wondered if there is anything in this port to see?
  9. Is Villefranche a nice port to wander around or is there not much to see/do? Thanks
  10. Wow Nancy you are so well informed! Thanks for letting me know, I would have thought they were together forever by their performances. They seemed such a lovely couple.
  11. Ah that's lovely PC. We've got some great memories of cruises , personally my favourite was 2018 on Discovery to Iceland. I can still see the sail out of Flam, Norway on a very warm sunny day and Braximusic singing by the pool. Would love to know what happened to them.
  12. Hi Dave, sorry to hear about your situation. I would contact your practice and explain the situation and that you could lose money. Ask them to bring the appointment forward or see if they can at least give you a telephone consultation. I'm sure they can make exceptions in certain situations. If you don't ask, you don't get is my motto ! Good luck
  13. We once had a late flight and paid extra to keep a cabin until 6pm, it was a different cabin but it was still very useful. I think it cost £30 but that was a few years ago.
  14. The last time we were on Discovery we had Capt Chris, he was great fun with a good sense of humour🙂
  15. Does anyone know who the captain is on Discovery and Discovery 2? Also who is the resident entertainment group? At the moment we can't make our mind up which cruise to book - we are nearly at the dip dip dip stage!
  16. You will need to check your insurance, are you insured as a party or individually? And contact your travel agent or Marella for advice. Hope all is okay - please let us know how you go on.
  17. Olbia is a small town with shops, cafes and a nice marina to walk round. We did this the first time but wanted to see more this time so we left the ship and walked towards the town. As we crossed the grass we saw some buses and people selling tickets for a beach. We took a bus for approx €10 round trip and the journey was around 20 minutes through lovely scenery to Pittulongu beach. It was lovely and there was a cafe and toilets there. We stayed a while and went to catch the next bus back - don't forget to check times. A great day out.
  18. We enjoyed Catania as a port. It's about 10-15 minutes walk to a square with an elephant statue, there are some lovely old buildings and churches to visit. There is great market and there were stalls with little cafes next door where you could choose fish and eat it cooked for you. We walked up the main thoroughfare off the square (think it's called via Etna) and there were lots of shops, cafes and further up there are some Roman ruins. We took a right into one of the small roads and found a lovely traditional bakers where we bought original Sicilian cannoli, absolutely delicious!
  19. You can walk through the town and along the promenade to the end, it's a pleasant walk with a few cafes along the way
  20. Malaga itself us a lovely port and a shame to miss it. Lovely streets to wander and good tapas restaurants.
