And I get what you are saying as well, but if the booking matches the ID there are no differences that would result in a denial of boarding. Yes, it is prudent to bring the bridging document just in case but it's "just in case", it's not "your cruise will be denied if you don't".

They are talking about the photo ID, not a birth certificate. If it were absolutely required then there would be a lot more people saying that they were required to show it at check-in and that is far from the case. It is better to have as a "just in case" but not strictly required.

Please help us narrow down our choices
sparks1093 replied to dcjb94's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
This is a very valid point. We typically decide which itinerary we want to do and when we want to do it and then look for the cruise line that will get us there for the least amount. We're now in the position where we can also factor in total cost. We now get the drink package every sailing and at least one WiFi package. There are many cruise lines that will include these items in your fare (along with tips). You'll pay more at final payment but overall your costs could be less. Here's our direct experience. We were looking for a cruise in February 2025 and wanted to do a Southern Caribbean itinerary. We compared lines and it came down to Carnival and Celebrity. Of course Celebrity had the highest upfront cost, but since they give you the option of including the drink package, tips, WiFi in your fare overall they were several hundred dollars less than the comparable Carnival sailing. Since it is our overall goal to sail as many lines as possible (without spending more in the process if we can) we booked with Celebrity. Fast forward to today. Our Celebrity cruise was cancelled because they are relocating the ship's homeport prior to that sailing so now we have to start from scratch. I still have to check the other lines but keeping to Carnival and Celebrity they each have a cruise to the ABC islands in February 2025. Celebrity is 7 nights, Carnival 8 nights. This time around the all in price on Celebrity is $500 more than the Carnival cruise. We're leaning Carnival this time but as I said, I still have to check on the other lines. -
True, my wife has several water bottles that have thick plastic straws that are definitely washable.

When I click on the final payment link it takes me to a page where three options are displayed- balance due, financing with uplift and other amount. If I put in an amount in other and click on select it then displays a payment window for that amount. This is on a laptop, if that matters.

As I understand it the Canadian Customs agents randomly search NCIC to see if someone is on it or not, they don't check each traveler. That means it is a crap shoot whether or not one is caught. I have a friend who used to frequently cross the border until one day they checked and found a decades old DUI. Now he is flagged and needs to apply through the rehabilitation process before he can return. (And while I said NCIC I do not know if it is that specific database.)

I do recall the roll calls that were quite active.

Those groups were moved to their own section of CC many years ago, long before COVID. It's the same section I believe where the Floataway Lounge is located.

Whose Responsibility Is It to Notify Us of Payment Deadline?
sparks1093 replied to CorFour's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
I am not looking at this from a liability standpoint at all. The TA failed the customer. Yes, ultimately the customer is responsible but that doesn't let the TA off the hook for their part. And the fact that the TA is the only one that can book with the cruise line is super weird. And the TA did benefit from their mistake because the OP rebooked at a much higher fare, resulting in a higher commission. -
Whose Responsibility Is It to Notify Us of Payment Deadline?

Who is the business and who is the customer? A smidgen of even adequate customer care would have prevented the whole mess so I don't feel for the TA at all. -
Yes, I saw the question and I know that the question is too limited so I provided the unasked part of the question.

Well, you need your S&S card or your boarding pass because they scan them to show that you've done the muster.

Excellent suggestion. I would very much favor the direct option if I had to make this decision.

Sounds like a well thought out plan, and one we may need to implement ourselves one day. You will definitely need to let us know how it works out. I believe it is much easier to get up and stretch one's legs on a train and as you say the seats are roomier. Very sorry to hear of your wife's passing, you have my deepest condolences.

Close enough!

Whose Responsibility Is It to Notify Us of Payment Deadline?

It was the TA's error, but that doesn't relieve the customer from the ultimate responsibility to make sure payment is made. -

Very valid reminder, thank you for posting it. -
Whose Responsibility Is It to Notify Us of Payment Deadline?

No, it's the same premise- the person responsible for collecting, collects. They don't just rely on the customer to pay it. -
Whose Responsibility Is It to Notify Us of Payment Deadline?
sparks1093 replied to CorFour's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
In a perfect world, sure, but if it is my job to collect something by a certain date I would be making sure the person that I'm collecting from hears from me at some point. (I used to deliver newspapers and folks would leave payment for me in a pre-arranged place. They knew how much was due and when it was due. But if that payment wasn't there you can bet I was knocking on their door to remind them.) -

If they never say anything how will they collect it? Seems an invoice would be warranted if they wanted to collect it. -
I think during the COVID hiatus people forgot about doing the dance. I know that I did on the three cruises that we've taken since restart, with the last one being in April. Most definitely would have posted about it but simply forgot.
