  1. I didn't mind the ones on the night stands but found the hallway light way too bright. We also bring the small tea lights to use in the bathroom.
  2. We were on CB in February and I didn't notice any smells.
  3. That surprises me too! Maybe some are with friends who have been on Princess? And as has been said, could be seasoned cruisers on some other line.
  4. Sounds like a fantastic cruise! We loved the Regal and agree, they have a great crew.
  5. I liked the Caribbean Princess, love the layout and lounges and especially the promenade deck. However, it was a full sailing and we did feel like it was crowded. We were lucky to book some days in the Sanctuary, including the Panama Canal sailing day.
  6. We were under the buffet on our last cruise, didn't realize until we were on board (it was a guaranteed room, we didn't pick it). It wasn't horrible but you could hear chairs being moved around at various times.
  7. We were on the Caribbean Princess on Valentine's Day this year. There was a group vow renewal in the Piazza. We didn't watch it but saw it in the Patter and afterwards saw some couples walking around with veils and flowers. I thought it was a fun idea. I'm sure this was the free version.
  8. Yes we were. But we were not able to have the same table, same wait staff.
  9. We had reservations months before but still were not able to get the same table, same waiters. It is NOT always working the same as traditional dining did. Just because it worked for you does not mean it is working for all.
  10. Except it doesn't always work that way. On our 10 day cruise we were able to get the same table and waiter about four times. The rest we were out of luck. This was also at 7:30.
  11. On our last cruise, I sat on the level above the terrace pool and watched three lounges below me for at least 2 hours with a bunch of stuff but no people. I don't find it amusing, I find it inconsiderate. The thing is, people claim to do that because they are afraid they won't find a seat when they want it, but if people didn't hog chairs then it wouldn't be necessary to hog chairs. It's a vicious cycle.
  12. I didn't mind the bedside lights but the hall light was really bright. And then it would go off when I needed light. Very annoying. I would much rather it was operated with a switch. We always bring tea lights for the bathroom.
  13. The Costa Rica time change was confusing for us. I wasn't sure if my phone would change automatically and we had an excursion and my phone is my alarm. So I kept waking up all night to check my phone against my watch (luckily not a smart watch). It did not so I changed my alarm to get us up at the right time without the change. Then to make sure I had it right, in the morning when we got up I checked the TV (thinking it would be correct) and it had also not changed. Some of our group assumed this was the correct time and went to breakfast in the MDR but it hadn't opened yet. My phone updated itself in port and then didn't correct itself until the next port.
  14. We did this last month on the Caribbean. It was for all day, I don't think a partial day was available but not positive. Yes you can wander around for that day. A normal day in the Sanctuary you have chosen spots and pretty much stay there but for the Canal day everyone was walking around checking out different views. For me, the biggest disadvantage was the tinted windows. I would rather see it without the glass but it was great to see it without the crowds at the front of the ship. Later I did go out and view from other spots. Here are a few pics from that day. The first is the view below us. The second was the view behind and above us. The third is from the Sanctuary.
  15. As has been said, the main problem is that the area is too small with too little seating for the activities that are happening there. Same as the pool decks. Now maybe if people didn't camp out that would help but they are probably afraid that they won't ever find a seat again if they leave it. I generally avoid the piazza because I don't find standing to watch the activities very enjoyable.
  16. Did you eat at Sabatini's every night? Or is that just where the Maitre d was hanging out to make changes? I am confused as to why you went there to make the change. Glad the dining worked out for you!
  17. It did feel more crowded than any other Princess ship I have been on. It was a full sailing but I have been on those before and didn't get the same feeling.
  18. That doesn't tempt me at all. However, I had the mocha shake at the ice cream counter on Caribbean P last month - delicious! And it was included in Plus. I only got it once but sure was tempted to get it a few more times. 😄
  19. I agree that the first night there are usually lines. However, these are lines every night. Again, I am happy that this is working for you but it would be nice to figure out a way to work better for all of us.
  20. I'm glad it is working for you. The lines suggest to me that something is not working though, at least for others.
  21. Except it doesn't always work that way. We know to ask for that. We got it on Regal last year but not on Caribbean this year. It seems like it could be set up to work for all. Other cruise lines do it, why not Princess?
  22. I would agree that the dining room makes a difference. We had reservations the first night in Coral and it was a mess (although to be fair the first night often is). After that we moved to the Palm and it was better. I hate to start something, but it really worked better with traditional dining!
  23. We were on the cruise right before yours. We were disappointed in the MDR but we were generally seated before the line without reservations, and we were a party of 8. But the service was very slow and food choices disappointing. We don't eat in specialty restaurants so I can't speak to that. I actually thought the ship seemed to be in good shape and they were constantly painting and cleaning. Also the medallion worked pretty well for us, as far as ordering drinks at the pool and finding each other. Other lines don't have a medallion at all so you aren't going to have an improvement there. For us, the biggest problem was the ship was very full and felt crowded. Not a fan of that. But overall our cruise was very good. Sorry you weren't happy with your cruise.
  24. This looks a little different than what we had. Ours had a white sauce on top, yours looks like cheese. I wasn't crazy about the white sauce but overall thought the lasagna was good.
