  1. I would say my favorite on Caribbean P last month was the coq au vin - delicious. Last year on Regal the ossobuco was fabulous. I had never had it before and was looking forward to having it this year. Unfortunately wasn't offered.
  2. They were handing out plates and silverware last month on the Caribbean Princess.
  3. Our first cruise we didn't have TV's in staterooms or wifi at all - so definite improvement! Agree on the beds, so comfy. Another vote for the auto-gratuity and/or plus package. Also the medallion instead of key or card. And definitely the new muster drill.
  4. On our cruise last month, there were activities around the main pool many afternoons. We didn't hang out there much but walking through there were sometimes games or trivia being run by the cruise director's staff. If not those then there were movies or music playing.
  5. Our first cruise was in 1990. At that time there were suggested gratuities that were planned for and paid in cash at the end of the cruise. These were for the room steward and MDR waiters and head waiter. We would also add a tip to a drink from the bar. We didn’t tip all of the people behind the scenes and were not expected to. Now it is deducted automatically, for convenience supposedly. Did they change the way they pay everyone else? Why are we now tipping dishwashers and janitors? We don’t remove gratuities and we tip extra when it is warranted, but in my mind I am still tipping for good service, not to pay for salaries that the cruise lines don’t want to.
  6. Too bad about the Sanctuary - such a nice space to spend time. Thank you for the review. Glad you had a great cruise!
  7. Grossness? I'm curious about what that means. I wasn't thrilled with the menus on our cruise this month, but never went hungry. I have never been on Carnival.
  8. This is the same menu we had one night earlier this month on the Caribbean Princess. I would say approximately every other night was a one page version like this, with the dessert included. You could get the "any day favorites" if you asked but new cruisers wouldn't know this. The rest of the time was a two page menu with separate dessert menu that we were used to from previous cruises. I am a somewhat picky eater and had a hard time finding entrees that sounded appealing, however my DH is not at all picky and said the same. Chicken is often my fallback but there was not even much of that offered. Lots of seafood. As has been said, we did not go hungry but it was disappointing. Our menus on the Regal January 2022 were much better IMO. The new Love Boat Dream was not good and the Pistachio Dome disappointing. In the past I have found fabulous chocolate desserts, this last cruise not so much. Yes, first world problems but it all goes into our decision about whether to sail and if so, what line and what to expect. Of course, food is subjective so all of this is my opinion.
  9. We had a flight at 11:10. We had a time of 8:30 and I would say we actually were called a little after that. We were at the airport, luggage checked in plenty of time.
  10. Our first cruise on RCL the muster was out on the promenade deck and they took pictures! Haha we actually bought ours.
  11. Agree, there are other areas where smoking is allowed, not needed in the casino. I don't know where the casino is on Enchanted but on Caribbean it is right off the piazza and that whole area smelled noticeably of smoke. Not pleasant.
  12. I think there was smoking allowed on Deck 7 but I never really noticed it and we were out there every day. I think it wasn't being used much. We did not have any toilet problems, either in our stateroom or public restrooms and I didn't hear of any issues.
  13. Of course ships weren't as big back then either. Our first cruise was in 1990 and honestly I don't remember how we did the luggage back then. Maybe if they handed out more colors it would be better?
  14. It was $20 for a half day. The Panama Canal day it was $60 for the full day, no half days. It seemed pretty full during the week but we added a day partway through the cruise so wasn't full at that time.
  15. We have done that and are easily able but some in our group didn't want to. I agree it is easier.
  16. I had a bite of DH's pizza from the Slice. It was good but not as good as Alfredo's. I also prefer the restaurant atmosphere.
  17. Hi All, just off 10 days on the Caribbean Princess Monday. Some good and some bad but overall a great cruise. This was our 5th Princess cruise, 17th cruise total. DH and I were sailing in a group of 8 with a couple who had never cruised before and another who had never been on Princess. This was my first sailing as Platinum. The only perk I noticed was our group got to avoid the lines when boarding. I knew I would have priority boarding but had assumed my group wouldn't be able to board with me so I was staying with them, but while in the line a worker noticed my medallion and pulled me out, along with my whole travel group. We walked right on. My friends were very impressed 😄 The ship seemed in good shape, there was constant cleaning and painting going on. We have been on the Star, Crown, Golden and our last was Regal. I would say this layout was my least favorite of these. The Atrium was smaller than Regal, the Terrace pool and deck were smaller than Crown. We missed Alfredo's. I don't spend time in the casino but it is near the Atrium and the smell of smoke was terrible. However, I liked the full promenade deck and the lounges much better than on Regal. The negatives would not keep me from sailing again but these areas were disappointing for us. We were in an inside and had booked a guarantee, our room ended up having large bulkheads with bunks. They were very annoying and I will make sure to avoid that in the future. Also, as has been said here, there are motion sensor lights. I didn't mind the small ones on each side of the bed but the large overhead one in the closet was way too bright. And it was the only light for the closet so I didn't want to have the sensor blocked to stay off. It would also turn off too quickly when I was doing something in the closet. Not the best design. But I really love the Princess stateroom layouts with closet and bathroom separate from the room. The ship was full and felt it. We spent some sea days at the Sanctuary which was much nicer than the crowded pool decks. Even the promenade deck was busier than I have ever seen on a ship. Probably because of this (and maybe the abundance of drink packages?), the wait service for drinks over the whole ship tended to be slow. Never really a problem though, I usually just walked up to a bar and had a drink within a few minutes. Overall we found the food very good. We had several breakfasts in the MDR and the rest in the buffet, lunches in the buffet and dinners with our group in the MDR. Yes the buffet is repetitive but I don't mind that. Lots of salad and fresh fruit. The evening menus had less to choose from compared to the Regal last year and fewer choices that appealed to me. A lot more seafood than I remember and I am not a huge seafood eater. I often chose the pasta dish. But I am a very picky eater so what doesn't appeal to me may to others. The Love Boat Dream is the new version reported here - not good in my opinion. I would not get again. Honestly, they really should change the name, it is nothing like the original. Our group seemed happy with their meals, and none of us went hungry! Dine my way did not work well for us. I really wanted our newbie friends to experience the traditional dining and we tried, but half the time could not get the same table and some nights our service was very slow. Granted, we were a larger group but always ordered quickly. I really wish Princess would bring back TD for those who want it. I know I will get some push back here but the lack of TD really has me re-thinking whether Princess is still my line of choice. Disembark was the usual zoo, not generally a happy way to end a lovely, relaxing cruise. I know they all do the luggage collection the same way (at least all the lines I have been on) but it really seems like someone would come up with a better method. Overall, a great cruise and nice ship. Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to answer.
  18. Thank you for sharing your cruise with us - I love your humor! Sounds like you had a fabulous time! Looking forward to the next adventure!
  19. I just had the same issue and came here looking for a solution. Using Microsoft Edge instead of Google Chrome worked for me.
  20. Depends on what you are looking for I guess. We started cruising with RCL but we cruise without kids and they are increasingly focusing on kid-friendly options. For us, that is space that we wouldn't use so it's not a welcome feature.
  21. This may have been discussed, anyone know if there will be a promenade deck?
  22. We were on an NCL cruise over Super Bowl one year and it was not playing. It was a European cruise though.
  23. We always check but go with the cheapest. If they are the same or close then we will go with EZ-Air. I would guess we have used it maybe half the time.
