  1. Not sure but probably not. If someone wants to gamble then exhaust their OBC, simply exhaust on the last day
  2. You go to a casino slot machine, do a room charge for your OBC amount (casino staff are around and will be happy to help you). Once the room charge is complete, you can press "cash out" which prints out a voucher. Bring the voucher to the cashier and you'll receive cash. Doing so will "flag" your casino account for that sailing which simply means you cannot gamble again on that sailing until you convince a casino manager to remove your flag so you may want to wait until late in the sailing. Some ships like the Reflection require the room charge to happen at the cashier.
  3. Exhaust your OBC by doing a room charge at the casino and cashing out
  4. To clarify, in the colonial days lobster was fed to prisoners, it's the prison revolts where no evidence exists
  5. Can confirm AQ class has chocolates as that's where I usually stay. I've seen it with my own eyes, more "unfit" people stay in AQ than fit people. Most book AQ for Blu which has a main section that's larger than the "clean cuisine" section. There's spa access, you just relax in a thermal lounger, sit in a steam room or sit in an aroma room. They do offer free fitness classes but whenever I go to the gym and see a class going on, it's never well attended
  6. It's actually a Urban legend, here's what the New Bedford Guide (I grew up a few towns from there) site has to say: "This early history of the lobster has spurred many an urban legend. Supposedly there were colonial, fisherman or prison revolts. It is said that people were so fed up with eating lobster that they were willing to burn, pillage and physically intervene. Petitions with hundreds or thousands of signatures were created. Landlords, bosses, supervisors and masters were taken to court and successfully sued. Even laws were placed on the books for this cruel and unusual punishment of having lobster for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, tea and a snack. Unfortunately, no historical records exist that can corroborate any of these legends. The stories do, however, crop up sometime in the 1950s, perhaps originating in marketing." http://www.newbedfordguide.com/lobster-in-local-history-culture/2012/05/16
  7. The Prima, like Virgin, does have a better "buffet" which is like a food hall. Nothing that looks like yesterdays leftovers thrown in a sauce like at some buffets
  8. What did you expect, someone besides the new bookings department to be working on a weekend? Lol
  9. Isn’t exclusive to noobs or even passengers, both seasoned cruisers and the crew may call it a boat. Someone saying that doesn’t bother me, though
  10. It's very true, if you don't want to get drunk or read a book, you have to make your own entertainment for most of the day. Archery can be slotted for 45mins (which is fairly boring to watch hence why it's rarely attended) can be over in 10mins.
  11. I'll go in the other direction and share some money saving tips... 1) You can bring on non-alcohol sealed canned beverages either during embarkation or when returning from a port. This includes energy drinks (which are expensive on board) or flavored seltzer water 2) If you plan on taking a taxi, find out ahead of time if uber/lyft is available in port and if it is, find a way to utilize it (pay for an international day pass or find a nearby cafe that offers free wifi) as it not only could save you a boat load of money but also a lot of frustration dealing pushy drivers 3) Drink/Internet packages or upgrades are prorated by night, while you miss out on the preboard discount, you can still save a bundle if you wait a few nights to upgrade or add an additional internet device
  12. To-Go coffee/paper cups, why are they so popular? I see people hanging out at the beverage station apparently waiting for the crew to restock them. Most ports don't allow you bring coffee off the ship, a mug does a far better job of keeping the coffee hot and you can leave the empty mug just about anywhere on the ship although the best places for it is on a table or outside a stateroom hallway. I was on the 15 night Millie Panama Canal sailing and saw something I've never seen before, on the first morning at the buffet, she had with her a huge sleeve of coffee/paper cups. Someone asked her if they could join for a game of flip cup, she stated she does it because often they run out of cups and it can take a while to find a staff member who's able to restock them.
  13. I cruise monthly and have seen this many times. The general issue is the person standing in the way often has some mild form of ADD and/or "tunnel vision". Often they don't mean to be burden, its just once they hear the elevator "ding!", their brain tells them to rush forward
  14. In Uber/Lyft, if I write "Berth 93" it comes up as "435 N Harbor Blvd, San Pedro". I live somewhat close by, anyone is welcome to pull up the app and see if berth 93 is an option
  15. Was on for Labor Day, they claimed it's due to staff shortages and the new rule started in July
  16. IMO, whatever you rank the MDR on a scale of one to ten (say a 5 for example), Blu is only 1-1.5 points higher. As stated above, if you want something special buy a multi-night dining package.
  17. I can't only speak about the Equinox, they will only let you order the "timeless classics" and not the rotating items which was disappointing
  18. You buy in, you receive a card with your round number; they do all the rounds then take the top seven in chips. They generally pay 1st and 2nd place. Can't surrender and can double after splits.
  19. Double check the morning of to confirm nothing changed. All sailings from now-April are in B93, April has two sailings NOT in B93
  20. Was on the Millie Panama Canal Sept 30th sailing which was under 40% capacity, internet Mbps average according to my speed tests 1.5/1.4. I cruise monthly and almost never seen Mbps at 3/3, it's often below 2/2 during non-peak times and it isn't uncommon to go way below 1/1 during peak times
  21. I’m extremely happy about having the fastest internet at sea…If you’re paying taxes you’re giving him along most other corporations either directly or indirectly more money. Furthermore you would need to avoid investing into the S&P 500 (tesla) or Google (spaceX). I could also make the counter argument for Musk-haters to invest heavily into Google/spaceX so he can get to Mars sooner…
  22. For some airlines, sure. One would need to do their due diligence based on the airline as they greatly vary with basic fare, some do not allow you pick your seats at all, some let you pick them at 24 hours and others allow you book in advance for a fee. Another option is to just book the backup flight if you’re okay with receiving a credit vs a refund
  23. Open seats/the seat map are the predictor of availability we have; if you see a few dozen open seats odds are you're in great shape
