  1. Well, HAL is hiring at home sales agents. https://www.glassdoor.com/job-listing/sales-agent-holland-america-line-holland-america-JV_IC1150505_KO0,32_KE33,48.htm?jl=1007870612499&utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic https://www.jobilize.com/job/us-wa-seattle-sales-agent-holland-america-line-carnival-cruise-hiring?utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic https://jobs.carnivalcorp.com/job/seattle/personal-cruise-consultant-holland-america-line/8858/29226153312?utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic
  2. Well that is disappointing. Any chance they might have capacity on the cruise only? If it was a full week cruise, they will likely have empty cabins- or maybe that’s what they want on the ship as well as in the hotel, to right-size capacity. Maybe that wouldn’t be as appealing as a cruise tour. It looks like HAL has recently placed a ton of “help wanted” ads for lots of different types of roles. Some positions are in Alaska, and some are remote ( from home, such as sales).( I was a little shocked at how low the pay was for sales. I might have considered it for part time.)
  3. Good Afternoon All, I just got back from celebrating Bike Day with my wonderful mountain bike. We’ve gone out together every day this past week. Guess I should plan to take Kate, my ebike for a spin too, so she doesn’t get jealous. Our little one is growing. And the kratky lettuce: We could use some of that, as can some of the other states around us. I was wondering the same thing. That’s one of the most beautiful blouses I’ve seen. Have a great day everyone!
  4. So, in other words, you might bring along an umbrella.😉
  5. That one would get the attention of management and the PIO if I were to have used it in an agency training for the governmental jurisdiction I worked for!
  6. I forgot to add pictures from the weekend and today of our little house guest. Today: Here’s the jars:
  7. Good Afternoon All, We have a clear day with temperatures in the low 80s. Just got done with errands. Got some soaps that are grey water safe, so we can harvest more water here. We’re awaiting announcement of what our restrictions will be, likely to become available after the election. I hate that things like that can be so political. This past weekend I got a few more hydroponic jars (kratky method) planted. We’re 2-4 weeks away from harvest on the seeds I planted several weeks ago. @0106 Love the memes. If I was still working I would add them to our training on audio screening. Have a great day everyone!
  8. It might still be possible that the waitlist puts you on the tour. Once aboard (Mexico cruise) we cleared the waitlist for 2 of 3 tours. HAL was able to add capacity with a second van. We had to cancel the tours we had booked as a back up via the front desk. We got wind that we had cleared when we saw both tours booked* on our daily schedule on Navigator, and went to Front Desk to clarify what was happening. Our onboard account also showed the charge. We received no notification or other sign we were booked on conflicting tours. *The third tour still indicated we were waitlisted, and the Daily on Navigator showed both the back up tour and the waitlisted tour. We then canceled the remaining waitlisted tour.
  9. Thanks! And interesting. (DH and I have been discussing our guesses on how the database for Navigator is structured. When we were aboard we saw a change occur that was helpful, that we were going to suggest /comment on.)
  10. Were you both logged in to the Navigator using credentials of the person whose name the booking was under? (I logged in using my mariner number.) If my DH logged in under HIS mariner number, he couldn’t access our internet plan. It was only available under my mariner number. He could see the booking and only his expenses.
  11. That’s interesting. We didn’t have HIA 2 months ago on Zuiderdam, and wifi was only available on my account. I DID buy it. But short of having DH log in with my Navigator credentials on his Navigator app, he could not get on. Internet was not handled by HAL giving you a username tied to your cabin, and then you creating a password ( as you are describing). Are you saying HIA gives each person their own access from their device, but the occupants can only get on one at a time? Or are you describing the previous way?
  12. Another thought: The Ignore List is a good thing. For me, it currently includes only 1 active and consistently rude poster, but it’s made many threads on CC a happier place, and I’ve missed some drama. I could insert my Golden’s face on that one. @Copper10-8 Is that lunch?
  13. If you are able to get Goya products near you, ( not sure if they trade in Canada) they make a frozen passion fruit purée. Some of our Asian markets will have the purple variety in the produce department. For those living in So Cal, Ralph’s Markets carries Goya, but not all of the markets have the frozen passion fruit. My local store puts it in the international section of the freezer (instead of the fruit section). I’m looking forward to (hopefully) have homegrown passion fruit next year. My plants are about 2 feet tall now.
  14. Good Morning All, @bennybear This is just a fast post to provide the recipe to the Passion Fruit Cake as promised. I used these recipes as a base: Lemon Layer Cake: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/lemon-cake/ https://www.thelittleepicurean.com/2021/04/passion-fruit-cake.html https://www.thelittleepicurean.com/2021/03/passion-fruit-curd.html#wprm-recipe-container-27098 passion fruit frosting https://www.passionforbaking.com/blog/2018/04/11/passionfruit-frosting/ The sorted out instructions are in the attached PDF. I plan to make the cake again, with the left over ingredients, but will use the cake base from the Little Epucurean. Incidentally, the lemon layer cake is really good with the frosting as written. Now off, to see Dad. (Our weekly "date"). Have a great day everyone! Passion Fruit Layer Cake.pdf
  15. Just now catching up. Heard the horrific news a few hours ago on the way to pick up dinner. So so sad. @bennybear I’ll pull the recipes together and post them tomorrow or by the end of the week. The cake was a hit, and there’s enough frosting and curd to make another when Dad comes.
  16. Good Afternoon All, We have a lovely day here. Love escargot. Made some faux escargot a few weeks ago with mushrooms and they were good ( and tasted like the real thing.) But not good enough for DH to say he’d try the real thing. It happens to be DH’s BD, so I’m preparing a few favorites for him. He decided on tacos from a stand near where I used to work, so will get take out from there. There just happened to be enough supplies in house to mix up margaritas, so they are freezing now. Decided that a passion fruit cake would finish off things nicely, so I made fresh passion fruit curd and frosting. A few weeks ago I had made extra Meyer lemon cake and froze it. I decided to use one of those, the one that had not been frosted. Well, surprise! It was stuck together with the last of the lemon curd. So that meant I have extra “stuff”. I tried soaking in the passion fruit syrup from the bottom. The lemon frosting on top became a crumb coat, the new passion fruit frosting is now covering the sides, and next the passion fruit curd will go on top. It’s sort of a sticky, sorry looking mess. Hope it isn’t too sweet or “ overdone”. Our Little Guest has one chick, who hatched the end of last week. We’re assuming the other egg is non-viable. Have a great day everyone! Last Friday Sunday Today
  17. We rented bikes from a concession near the gates to the park. That was 12 years ago. It was a nice ride.
  18. Thought I would share a few pictures of our new house guests: The first 2 we’re last week and this Wednesday: And this morning:
  19. Good Evening All, It’s been a reflective and rather sad today as we attended the funeral of a friend’s mom, who played a “second mom” role to me when I was little. It was a lovely tribute to a special lady. As it’s still Plant Veggies Day I’m contributing these of our new veggies garden, and my latest Kratky ( hydroponic) lettuce. poops. I must have had my iPad upside down! Have a great evening everyone!
  20. You can definitely check in early. But you will not be able to complete the total process until you complete the health questionnaire, I believe 3 days prior. I discovered in order to get the boarding pass, both of us had to complete the emergency information and add an onboard payment source. DH hadn’t done either, ( thought he had) and neither of us were able to get boarding passes or luggage tags.
  21. Good Morning All, We currently have cloud cover with a promise of sunshine later. We’re still experiencing a bit of smoke smell even though the Coastal Fire is quite a distance away, and fully contained as of yesterday. I think smoke is still trapped below the marine layer. We have no museums on the agenda until next month when we’re going to the Autry. Last Friday a friend and I took in the Route 66, WARM and Harvey House in Barstow, then Calico. As far as relatives, am attending a vigil/ rosary for a long time friend. This is probably a good place to ask (being I’m not of the catholic tradition): Is one meant to arrive at the start and stay through, or is it more of a “open house” where people come and go? (Our tradition is more of the later). Is there a “ service”? Have a great day everyone! His Nibs is demanding his walk!
  22. Maybe sending an email to Guest Services will get the question forwarded to the right department and response in writing.
