We are booked on the 17th March 2020 sailing out of Dubai. While there are numerous reports of ports on the itinerary not being open to cruise ships, Azamara is still telling everyone that there are no issues and that the itinerary remains unchanged. With no changes being confirmed by Azamara, the legislation does not seem to apply. My thoughts at the moment is to go on the cruise, relying on the numerous statements made by Azamara that everything is going ahead as planned, and if it turns out that the information provided was not accurate, seek address via the small claims courts under the common law "estoppel rule".

    This is worth noting ~

  2. Hi,

for all of you in the UK the information in this link should be useful.

We are in a similar predicament with a booked cruise for May / June which has 6 Italian ports of call.  We are watching and waiting, but sadly will almost definitely cancel.

Azamara may find that a more generous  cancellation policy and showing a more empathic approach to customers, especially those with obvious health concerns may pay dividends on the future, likewise this hard nosed corporate approach does nothing to maintain its image of friendly, customer focused care.  Even Royal Caribbean and Celebrity appear to a have more flexible approach so there is no excuse. The video only serves to underline this approach.

    Hi sunlover33,
I did like this approach from Viking Cruises.  Although not booked with them, whilst reading other forums regarding the Coronavirus, I noticed this link.
We actually have 16 days booked with Crystal from 22nd. May in and around the Mediterranean.
6 ports of call are Italian!

    EDIT:
I APOLOGISE FOR THE WEIRD PRESENTATION OF THIS POST 🤷🏼‍♀️

  4. I must say that I am feeling attracted to a river cruise already. The ship looks stunning.

Thank you for keeping us all so well enlightened.

In your 6th photo, the ‘coffee table’ book appears to be titled BEATLES!

Difficult to get a clear view, but a nice gesture by Crystal or coincidence maybe?

I also received this survey request. When trying to complete it, I only got to the 4th question regarding household income when it told me I had completed the survey. Perhaps my income is not sufficient for them to be interested in my views!

I received the same response following the income question.

    SURVEY COMPLETED - THANK YOU

I shall be interested to read the ‘findings’ in due course.

  6. I received this email this afternoon too. I am in Essex, UK

I haven’t taken a look yet, but my first thought was ~ is this a response to the ‘lead balloon’ dropped about the bidding for upgrades?

Should I win the $250 Amazon gift card, would I be able to use it here in the UK?

  7. All this bidding malarkey has us thoroughly confused!!

We have taken 4 cruises with Azamara and also 4 with Crystal and have been looking at both with a view to booking a 2019 cruise.

Whilst we have enjoyed Azamara, none more so than our first cruise in 2009 on Quest, we would thoroughly recommend Crystal. Take a look at this link.

Following this ‘news’ from Azamara, we will be seriously looking at Crystal.

    We are jumping ship !

We have decide to try C*****l for the Suez Canal Cruise.

We are very disappointed that Azamara would sell  us a cruise and then , behind our backs, resell it as a charter.

We know it happens and it is business ......🤑

We will return to Azamara for the exceptional onboard experience but we give an F to the Miami deciders.

    Micheline and Luc

    Hi Micheline and Luc,

sorry to read of the change to your cruise.

We had an itinerary change with Azamara at very short notice. We chose the cruise, our fourth with Azamara,  as it included a port we particularly wanted to visit, which was cancelled and there was a knock on effect involving two further ports.  It IS disappointing!!  However we did have a pleasant cruise, although not as we had planned.

Just  want to reassure you about your change to Crystal (there, I have said it!!)

We would be surprised if you were not delighted with the dining choices, the exceptional crew, comfortable rooms and outstanding entertainment.  After 4 Crystal cruises, we do feel more drawn to them.

    Ann.

  9. I love this thread and thank Phil for his observations.  I am inclined to think Azamara are out to confuse passengers!

In 2016, we decided to book a Med. cruise quite late in the day.  The only room available was a Club Continent on deck 8, port side.  There was some noise from above at certain times. The room was spacious, but the balcony was almost impossible to use.  The large bathroom, the bowl of fruit, 4 half bottles of spirit and speciality restaurant concessions would not tempt me to pay the additional £££’s.

I would rather pay as I go for the speciality restaurants as everything else we enjoy is included.

    Ann.

  10. Barbara.

Don’t let that spoil your cruise and chance of relaxation.

I would ask for a chat with maybe the Hotel Director, who should take the matter seriously. Allow them to make amends, which will hopefully leave a better impression with you. Good Luck.

  11. You’ve been so helpful to all of us and I want to thank you for getting questions answered that seem impossible. I’m wondering if you can find out when and what our Azamazing evening will be on the September 29 Greek intensive tour? Rumor has it that it’s when in Rhodes , but I’m booking some evening shore excursions and want to be sure I don’t miss this evening. It’s one of our favorite parts of the trip. Thanks so much.

  12. HAND HYGIENE.

We always pack a pump action bottle of Antibacterial Handwash. This is in place of the tablets of soap provided in the bathroom. Leave the bottle behind at the end of your cruise!

ALWAYS wash your hands after using the washroom on and off the ship.

ALWAYS use the hand sanitisers where placed on and off the ship.

Azamara crew are very pro active with promoting the use of the sanitisers, so do get into that habit.

A stomach upset can ruin your long awaited cruise!!

  13. We will be transferring via private vehicle with car/driver from our hotel in Nice to the cruise ship port in Monaco and thought about stopping to see the Prince's car collection. Is that feasible or logistically difficult given its location and timing. I thought we could leave Nice mid-morning, stop at the car collection and still arrive at the ship in time for lunch.

    Any advice?

This car collection is absolutely worth a visit.

Allow 1-2 hours depending on your level of interest.

Will you have luggage with you?

Could you embark and then make the visit after lunch?

It is walkable, but would depend on your ship’s departure time and whether you would be allowed ashore once on board.

Also check the opening times coincide with your plans.

  14. Sink is mounted on a different counter. Two hooks on the wall next to shelves. No grab handle in tub? Or shower? Tubs can be dangerous on a rolling ship.

I agree. We had a CC suite on Quest last year, with a shower curtain over the bath tub, without a handle. Preferring a bath, I found it very difficult to step in and out safely. Resorted to showering, which I do not like.

I probably mentioned those points in my post cruise review!! Hey ho.

  15. I’ve received a statement from our U.K. team...

“Our LCV event on the 13th August has extremely limited capacity, and knowing how popular it would be, we sent out an invitation last week to a small group of our UK based LCV guests and monitored numbers closely. As we had some spaces remaining this week we decided to send out the invitation more widely to our valued LCV customers in the UK, and such was the response that the remaining spaces for the event sold out completely in just a few minutes.

We’re sorry to anyone who was disappointed not to get a place this time around, but we are looking at possibilities to see whether we can hold any further ship visits on board Pursuit this year.”

Yes indeed my hopes were dashed in a few moments!

The email arrived and I reacted, but SOLD OUT across the screen was the response!! Hey ho.

But do ask again if spaces materialise. We are only in Essex.

  16. We too have experienced this denial to certain areas on other cruise lines, but not multiple times on the same ship. Fully understand your concern.

You might like to read a post by Emperor Norton titled “From the cow kings to an Empress, Norton goes on a little Sojourn” on the Seabourn Forums. The cruise is current and there are several obstacles! The comments are often hilarious, so worth a read. Go to page 4, post no: 32 onwards.

  17. Another survey, and this company still does not get it right.

Question 18 asks to list what we like. I entered 5 things, they red flagged it as you must select at least one item. They meant it, only one item can be selected.

    Who creates these surveys???? Monkeys??

Actually you are right. The company conducting the survey is probably ‘Survey Monkey’!

In their previous survey, some 3 months ago, similar comments about who received the survey, how difficult it was to complete and submit were made.

  18. Hi, I do agree with Lottie on the second itinerary as a preference.

Had you realised the second choice is a Perry Golf voyage, which I imagine is why there are mainly Spanish and Portuguese ports?

Your first choice includes The Monaco Grand Prix which takes over the town, but is a fabulous experience.

Bear in mind itineraries can change. We booked with Azamara last year, which included Valletta, Malta and Alcudia. The only two ports we had not visited. Quite close to sail date, Malta was cancelled and Alcudia was replaced by Palma and I believe a further tweak occurred. We were disappointed and probably wouldn't have chosen that final itinerary had we known. I can't believe Barcelona and Lisbon would be changed!! The Azamazing evening is at Hemisferic, Valencia which is impressive. We loved it there.

I am now feeling tempted by this itinerary!!

Hope you are able to make a decision. Ann.
