  1. Totally not unexpected but of course whenever a company reports less then expected quarterly earnings they get hammered by all the day traders and people that like to short the market or panic sellers. Best to look medium to long term but people are greedy and want what they want NOW.
  2. 😔Only a sad emoji works for me as well. I can wake at 5am naturally but doing so to geese honking would be tough.
  3. We will have to agree to disagree withy this viewpoint. This constant complaints by some ex-Crystal people is tiring and I don't enjoy reading this board these days. I remember about 9 years ago early on when reading cruise critic as a newbie to Seabourn reading various complaints about the wines and some service issues. So even though I had enjoyed previous cruises I listened to these "experts" that I needed to speak up about any perceived fault on my next cruise. I made a rod for my own back and the first part of my cruise till I realised what I was doing. I was looking for fault and couldn't relax and enjoy my cruise. Not everything goes right but I have learnt to pick my battles and ignore the small stuff. Things I need to talk to someone about I do and I go to the person that needs to know, sometimes it is the Hotel Director but often Guest Services is enough. Only once after a cruise have I needed to go higher and that was resolved and I have sailed on Seabourn a number of times. Interestingly to me I did one cruise on Crystal in 2012 and that was enough, I was under the impression it was the pinnacle for cruises. My stewardess was the worst ever, destinations were unhelpful, unless you were in Penthouse or above you couldn't get any extra speciality restaurant bookings. Apparently that changed in later years but I wasn't willing to risk the financial output to try again. However I had been thinking to try the river cruises prior to the bankruptcies because friends recommended them. My point is though some complaints are valid they need to be put in context to where the person's overall expectations are. Maybe like me they fell for the hype of Crystal and in this case Seabourn and it was never going to live up to the advertising. I haven't sailed on Seabourn since December 2019 but friends have and though generally good there have been some disappointments. But I have stayed in some regular 5 star resorts here as well and things are not as they were, as people adjust to difficulties in getting trained staff and Covid quarantines. We still have a good time though. I will go to my July cruise with an open mind and after these tough few years because of Covid and family issues I hope to have an enjoyable cruise.
  4. The cruise ships I sail on have both European and US style power points, so to access all the power points available in the room it is a good idea have an adapter. So something to keep in mind, it depends on the ship. We take a couple of Universal Travel Adaptors because we travel to Asia and other places as well.
  5. I would definitely disagree about this not being true formal wear. For quite awhile now dressy pant suits or pants and top in high end fabric such as silk, satin, crepe etc has been allowable as formal wear. A friend a few years ago wore a tuxedo styled pant suit with a camisole top one formal night and she looked fabulous.
  6. I assume because a ship is still within territorial waters as it sails around Italy or Greece so it is public transport and follows that rule about mask wearing. An aircraft soon after take off would be out of Italian or Greek airspace fairly quickly so I assume they don't enforce it unless the airline does, especially since your leaving Italy or Greece. Just my thoughts the matter.
  7. I am first generation Polish and I still haven't made it to Krakow where my family come from and have heard from other family and UK friends that visited it is lovely. I have been to Szczecin and it was great and the people were very kind and friendly. I agree with your sentiments re Russia though I know there are nice people there as well. It's Mother"s Day here so enjoying a glass of Margaret River Chardonnay while my sons and husband cook fish tacos for my dinner. My youngest son made his own corn tortillas using the tortilla press I bought him a few years ago. Happy Mother's day both for all human and furry pet mothers. 🙂
  8. Thank you for spreading some joy in a time when some of life feels very bleak.
  9. It's okay you can use my name in vain 😅. I'm glad your tests came back negative and you can now relax before your cruise. I'm sorry about your flight issues and immigration issues, though it does bring back some memories of travel pre-Covid. One time in LHR we were in a lane for business class immigration, two people checking whereas the economy class had about 6 people to check them and went at least three times at fast. Friends waiting to pick us up were very kind and waited the 3 hours it took to pick us up. To be honest one immigration officer in our check in took forever and grilled every passenger, very pedantic. Thankfully that was rare.
  10. Well I hope so as I am likely not to be boarding in Civitavecchia until around 3pm. Though I might tell my TA to notify Seabourn we will be boarding later, so if we got an early boarding they can give it to someone else.
  11. That is definitely a Laugh Out Loud funny and so true and one I sometimes aim for. Have a safe and fun time mysty. We will keep your barstool clean and warm for you. I will be heading off for my trip on 4th July so we can swap roles. Julie
  12. 🤞Hopefully you won't get it as I do know of couples where one tested positive but the other stayed negative.
  13. I hope your husband and yourself if you test positive, have a mild or asymptomatic case. I am not sure if you know but I have heard something about a certificate of recovery as being available if there is a problem with still testing positive before you leave. Though at that point transmission to others is not a problem.
  14. Just be aware with the Pantheon on weekends now it is compulsory to book you can't just walk in and look like you can during week days. So if you just want to have a quick look plan to do so on a week day. Otherwise you can book an audio guide or tour for the weekend to go in. https://www.pantheonroma.com/visit-the-pantheon/ If it comes up in Italian just go to the menu on top left, drop down, select language then you can select English.
  15. 🤞🤞🤞Keeping mine crossed for you as well mysty.
  16. Very sensible advice. Even pre-Covid we found it better to leave our bags with the hotel have a last wander and lunch at our pre-cruise port and arrive after 2pm when the crowds were likely to be less. I remember doing this once when we were leaving from Civitavecchia and when we arrived they were only just starting to process people because the heat had caused a problem with the electrics and computers. I was so glad we had turned up later.
