  1. Who needs the Lionesses when we had the Queens nearly 60 years ago😊 https://www.britishpathe.com/asset/88079/
  2. We were on Arcadia last month and went to Sindhu and Ocean grill for one meal at each, the food was excellent in both. There wasn’t a problem booking for Sindhu but Ocean grill was showing as fully booked on the day that we wanted (mind you we decided to book several days into the cruise) however we went down to the restaurant to book in person, which turned out to be a mistake for them fitting people in. The food and waiter service in Ocean grill was very good but spoilt by the extremely slow service, at one point a number of tables were waiting over 40 minutes for the main after finishing their starters, one couple walked out while waiting without paying and 2 other tables didn’t order a pudding as they had run out of time before going to the show, an 8 to 8.15 booking should be ok for a 10.30 show. The head waiter admitted that they had too many bookings for the capacity of the kitchen, he was knocking money off peoples bills as recompense. I’m sure that it was a particularly bad night otherwise people wouldn’t go back there. Personally we are more than happy with the quality and experience in the mdr but the choice is quite restricted nowadays.
  3. Hello muddah hello faddah fog is lifting and the sun is breaking through😊
  4. 19c here but foggy, I don’t think I’ve ever seen fog with such high temperatures before, I normally associate it with cool autumnal weather. It’s been mostly cloudy here for the past 2 days and I guess that that this fog will lift in the end to cloud later.
  5. 18c and thickly overcast here at the moment. Forecast for yesterday and today was for full sun but yesterday was also mostly cloudy here although reading on here just ‘up the road’ in Stoke it was sunny, it still got up to 27c so actually quite pleasant.
  6. Our neighbour is washing his cars again after only doing them yesterday evening, the light rain earlier has brought the ‘Sahara’ dust down and they are dirtier than before he cleaned them. Fortunately our car is garaged.
  7. After getting bccs I now cover up in the sun, sit in the shade if possible and always wear a cap or brimmed hat when outside, I have never been a sun worshipper though. The trouble is I get so hot and sweaty when gardening or going out in the sun wearing a hat, long trousers and long sleeve shirt (my fault as I can’t be bothered to sun cream up on my arms and legs!). We were on Arcadia recently and there weren’t many outside shaded areas, the port side of the covered rear pool area is given over as a smoking area. Already 21c here but cloudy, was surprisingly woken by the pitter patter of light rain at 7am.
  8. I’ve tried both cc name and then email address with password and no success😩
  9. I’ve tried logging in using my email and password (as it says it’s moving to that method) with no success. Switched phone off and on again with no success🤔 My phone is an old iPhone 6 and I find nowadays some websites don’t work with it. Even if I can’t post while away at least I can read what others are posting.
  10. Thanks, 2 nights in Southampton then a 21 night Arcadia cruise to Norway and Iceland. Has the log on to cruise critic changed? I’ve just tried to log on on my phone and it doesn’t get me in. I’ve used this iPad and my laptop to sign in but it’s been permanently signed in for months.
  11. We’re going away for over 3 weeks on Sunday and today was the forecast dry day of the week to cut the grass and general gardening and it’s drizzling!!😩 To rub it in it was supposed to be showery the last 2 days but they went around us. Hopefully the drizzle will stop and things dry out as I have to get the grass cut.
  12. I'd heard of her but hadn't seen her until she was on TV at Glastonbury a few weeks ago!!
  13. I feel for you, I'm watching on the tv and can see the conditions.
  14. Stormy on Southampton Water (11) Netley Cam - Southampton Water Shipspotting (NCSC Netley Cliff Sailing Club) - YouTube
  15. It's a better day weatherwise here in Cheshire than I was expecting today. It hasn't rained today (did overnight), sunny spells, low winds and around 20c. There are a few showers around but we are avoiding them at the moment.
  16. Thanks, so I didn’t dream the boarding arrangements 😊
  17. We are booked on the QM2 cruise next February from Cape Town to Sydney as part of her World Cruise 2024. We fly out and land in Cape Town the day before departure and will be booking a 1 night stay in a hotel. I am curious about the boarding arrangements at Cape Town, I’m sure that I read somewhere on these boards that cruise companies bus you from a hotel check in location to the ship? Is this correct or has someone recently joined a ship there and know the arrangements.
  18. I don’t dislike verstappen as much as I used to but his petulant side comes out easily when things aren’t going his way. The car design rule changes introduced last year were supposed to have tightened up the racing but unfortunately Red Bull have hit the sweet spot and produced a far superior car (although Perez isn’t making the most of it). I hoped that this year the other teams would have learned and caught up, which they have from time to time but not enough to challenge Red Bull / Verstappen. We watch the start of each race hoping that Verstappen will come a cropper at the first corner to make a more interesting race.
  19. There was an interesting programme on ch5 last night with Dara O’Brien about the moon , I think it’s a series of 2 with the second part tonight. I like to think that I have good general knowledge but I learnt several new things watching it last night.
  20. I heard someone on the media yesterday say that Yorkshire can have their day but the rest of the year is Lancashires😊
  21. The weather was annoying for the open and especially the test match. We live not much further south and apart from a brief shower it’s been dry all day and the sun is now out.
  22. I mustn’t forget in between all of the sports to pick up the MIL for our weekly Sunday lunch at our place. It’s my wife’s turn to cook and we’re having haute cuisine of sausage casserole, mash and peas🥘🥔🫛🍷
  23. Surprisingly the outside temperature is warmer than I was expecting today at nearly 21c and fortunately at the moment we are just South of the rain band over northern England which is unfortunately affecting the Test at Old Trafford.
  24. Oh, and the end of the Tour de France around central Paris😊
  25. + the last round of the open and the ashes test (weather dependent). Today is going to be, watch the test if on, build up and f1 race (I have to watch them live) whilst keeping an eye on the test and Open, then the end of the Open, presuming that the test will be over one way or another by then. Phew, I’m glad I’m watching so much exercise today to keep me fit.
