So originally being from Brooklyn the only concerts we could afford to go to was Murray the Ks Christmas concert at the Brooklyn Fox. After college and working in Manhattan I went to Madison Square Garden to see the first Rock and Roll revival with the introduction of Sha-Na-Na. There were many doo- wop groups that were old men then.

Can I join the "I am 76 club"? I qualify.
You most certainly can. I see you are from Monticello. We went to different bungalow colonies and Hotels in the Catskills in the 50s and 60s. Best times.

Complawyer, I accept your apology and we are indeed friends again. I'm also 76 so we have that in common.
I guess we are all guilty of using the "p" word when we really mean annoyed. NCL was always my cruise of choice but I got tired with the away ships and didn't want to fly anywhere. We are not gamblers and do not drink so entertainment is important to us. So when I heard that Donna was no longer available I overreacted. It was the only big show on the Prima, not like the Viva that has two big shows. I now hear it is back so am happy.

cruisenyforlife.. taylor who? i wouldnt know a taylor swift song if she were sitting on my lap (sorry mr kelce) and personally serenading me .and elliennj, im not criticizing any ones taste in music, i was merely saying you were pissed that donna show has been taken off. regardless of which side of the bench i'm on, is that really a reason to get pissed, as she has been dead (as well as disco) for more than 40 years, and i dont think any station is still playing her music. sorry if i ruffled your feathers. that was certainly not my intention
Yeah, you certainly did ruffle my feathers. I live in the NY/NJ area where we have plenty of oldie stations and disco is often played. What really bothered me is telling me if I don't like it to cancel my booking on the Prima and go elsewhere. This is something that is more in tune with a FB reply that a responsible Cruise Critic reply. I thought you were better than that.

We were suppose to do the 21 day NY to Seattle NCL Bliss on April 19, 2020. We got our cancellation notice on April 3rd. I remember trying to decide between that cruise and the Gem that did a similar itinerary in January. The Gem made it. The Bliss didn't.

ellieinnj.. sorry dear, if youre getting pissed because they removed a show about a disco queen who has been dear for years, and a music genre that hit its prime over 40 years ago, maybe you should try and sell your cn, and cancel the dec cruise (that has truly disappointed you with a failure to show donna) and since you claim this will probably be your last ncl cruise, why not check into another cruise at another date. i have posted before, the show(s) offered on board is so low on my criteria list for booking, as to be almost non-existent
and bkrickles1, you are 100% correct, beatles music is timeless, but having watched them on the ed sullivan show in 1964, you can only hear yeah!yeah!yeah! so many betimes before enough is enough.
remember, i consider music by frank sinatra, tony bennet, dion and the belmonts, also timeless.
if you're of a certain age, songs by the penquins, 5 satins, the flamingoes will also be timeless.
last thought " it's got a good beat, easy to dance too, i'll give it a 75!"
if you have no idea about any of these songs or vocal groups, you rightfully deserve Donna (lol)
Your negative attitude has something to be desired. Since when is it a crime to like ALL genres of music. I grew up in the late 50s loving doo wop, the 60s loving Barbra, Steve &Eydie plus Bandstand and the British Invasion, the 70s with Barry and Disco, the 80s dancing to Madonna, MJ, Cyndie and the long haired groups. You are not the judge and jury of what music to like on cruises. Stay on your own side of the bench.😄

Where do you get the shuttle into town and how much does it cost? Do they accept US dollars or do you need pesos? Are there any tours you can book at the pier or only pre booked tours? Not sure what we want to do yet.
-
When we were matched from NCL platinum to MSC gold we also got a 5 percent discount off the price (before taxes and port fees).
-
My next and probably last NCL cruise is the Prima in December because I had one CN left, two FCCs, round trip from NY and Donna Summer. Now I heard they cancelled Donna. Really pissed.

No LAX-It needed, as mentioned the hotel shuttle pickup areas are clearly marked on the upper/departure level. Hopefully your hotel shuttle service is better than the LAX Sheraton's. A few weeks ago we waited over 30 minutes in the pandemonium of the shuttle pickup area at Terminal 6 for our Sheraton bus to arrive. While we waited, FIVE LAX Hyatt buses drove by. Guess where we'll be staying next time we have to stay at LAX ;o) Note also that the shuttle buses can be VERY packed with bags and passengers. When our bus arrived, we barely fit on board.
Thanks. We are staying at the Marriott Fairfield Inn. They said to call hotel once we got to LAX and they will send the shuttle to us. Hopefully at 9:30pm it will not be too crowded.
-
We are arriving at LAX around 9:30pm. We have a free shuttle bus to our hotel in El Segundo. LAX website says we go to upper level. So we do not have to take a shuttle to Lax-It?

Yes. We brought empty water bottles we got on a plane that were much sturdier than the supermarket ones.

I spent a day at the Vevo Beach Club last week by the airport. We had the place to ourselves most of the day. Decent food plus the Ocean Lab Brewery is there for great craft beer. It's $80 for the day entrance during the weekday. Probably have to be a member to get in on the weekend. Beach was nice but pretty narrow. You can walk a long ways on the beach there.
Our cruise on Princess is offering an excursion there in November for $55pp. for 4 1/2 hrs. Are there free lounges and/or umbrellas on the beach?

I've done the Breakaway twice, the Getaway and the Joy, all out of NY and to me, except for the Observation Lounge on the Joy and the different shows, they are all the same ship. Crowded atrium and very few places to sit.
In October we did MSC Meraviglia and February we did Carnival Venezia also out of NY area, just to try different ships. Wasn't crazy about MSC but they had great shows and tons of places to sit and relax. We surprisingly enjoyed Carnival but their shows were meh but their food was good and good venues and places to sit and relax.

As far as Royal Caribbean 's pricing, we get great group rates with our TA, though usually a while out. I've seen people mention "going, going gone" rates on the Royal boards for cruises in the next few months. Why don't you check it out.
-
Just looked and my cruise went down $40pp in my category. Now asked my TA to get the lower price. That's two specialties LOL.

We just came off the Venezia and Dara in the piano bar had a good voice but she was very raunchy while speaking. I don't mind some adult talk and enjoy the late night comedians but she spoke from the gutter

Can you tell us what you did in Catalina Island and Ensenada? We are on at end of April.
-
Is this bus in walking distance from the pier? In description it says two places to get on, Marina Vallarta and other is Malecon centro. If not what is the best way to get there. We will be on the Carnival Panorama in April, 2024.

lots of people want to go. few make it, as the port call is frequently canceled.
As was our Getaway to Bermuda in February 2023 that turned into a cruise to nowhere. The ship was packed, especially with 20 somethings.
-
Also the prices may go up. I was thinking about booking some excursions and a week later the prices were $5-$10 more pp. Also the transportation to the airport was $10 more pp.

Loving your reports. Doing this itinerary on another line in April so looking forward to your port review.

This all reminds me of my daughters wedding last summer. My daughter wanted pasta for her wedding. At the tasting they served us fettuccini with lots of chicken and baked ziti with a good amount of meat in the sauce. My husband specifically asked if there would be that much meat at the buffet so everyone would get meat with their meal. They assured us it would so we went through them. Fast forward to the wedding. We were the first table to go through the buffet after the head table and by the time we got to the fettuccini, I found one small sliver of chicken and the baked ziti's sauce had no meat. So disappointed. I haven't come across that on Carnival though.
My husband ordered the pasta and seafood the last night. It came with two mussels, two small shrimp and maybe three calamari. He was very disappointed.
