  1. I wonder why all these trips seem to be changing port times? Both of those ports are just beach days for us but we are not early risers on vacation.

Any chance you want to post the dailies sometime this week? We leave in two weeks and would love to see them!! At least the activity and dining pages.

Did you see the dailies that I posted above? Again, sorry I lost day one and two.

  2. I would love to see some newer ones too. Even just the last page would be helpful. We leave on Friday for New Orleans. So excited!!

The last page ? Do want the page that lists the hours that the restaurants are open? If so I can scan them and post them tomorrow. ( I don't have days 1-2, they are from the November 15th cruise)

  3. I just got a call from Acadmey Bus Line from Boston to NY. I was told that I will be giving back the money I sent for transpatation to NY in April. They said to call NCL to see if other arrangements have been made. I was told that many people are upset. Anyone know anything about this. As far as I know they are still transporting RCL passengers.

    Thanks in advance.

Not surprised, my daughter took this bus in May and there were only 4 of them till Worcester, a small group got on in Worcester, they skipped Springfield there wasn't anyone to pick up, they hung out in Hartford waiting for the two people that they needed to pick up there.

The return trips was long. They were picked up about 230 at the pier and they didn't get home till 9pm.

Its too bad, it was very convenient, we live in Weymouth, about 5 miles from the pick up spot.

  4. We were on the Dawn November 15. That was our 5th cruise on her and we have two more coming up (May 8, 10 night our of NOLA and Oct 21 out of Boston). We have been in a suite 4 of the 5 and a mini suite once. We have never had a bad cruise. The staff is great, the shows are great, the food is good to great. Last cruise we had the UDP and we ate in the specialty restaurants and the buffet two nights. We never ate in the Blue Lagoon or the MDRs. We had breakfast in Cagneys or the Buffet, again always delicious.

The only time we waited for drinks (we had the UBP) was in the Casino.

We had 12 people on our cruise in November, they did have a toilet overflowing problem on the first night, it was taken care of right away, they spent that night in a different cabin, the crew steam cleaned the cabin and they didn't let that experience ruin their vacation. I did meet a couple that must have had the laziest room steward in the world, when they began to unpack their luggage, they found that the guest before them had left clothing in the drawers. They contacted guest services who sent someone right away to take care of it.

  5. If ncl does not give us a new ship in Boston, we will for the first time look at different cruise lines. The Dawn is nice but having traveled it 4 times is getting boring. Loved the spirit due to it's outdoor areas and observation lounge deleted on the dawn. Also loved the pool area that was beautiful. The dawn pool area is old, ugly and worn out. Come on ncl mix it up and give Boston something different PLEASE!

I have friends that have booked Holland America (not sure of the ship) Boston to Bermuda for next summer. I think they have 4 dates to choose from and they will be docking in Hamilton.

We are booked on the Dawn October, 2015. That will be our 7th Dawn cruise and will be after her refurbishment. They haven't announced the repositioning from New Orleans in April 2017, maybe it will be a different ship.

  7. Hi Folks,

We are sailing out of New York in January for a 10 day cruise on the Gem. Call me crazy (which would be true ;)) but I am hoping when we depart it is during a snow storm. I live in Western New York so having snow is definitely not a novelty for us. For some reason though that I cannot explain I think sailing off to the Caribbean in January in a snow storm would just add to the adventure.

    Anyone had that happen before?

Sailed out of Boston for a weekend CTN during a snowy nor'easter, it was a very rocky sailing.

  8. AllAmericanAmy gave a very accurate description of what occurred on 12/6. Andre was on the PA at least every ten minutes giving updates. People don't realize how vulnerable a cruise ship is and the overwhelming task it must be to keep one safe. Our ship was under surveillance the entire time we were in a port of every single stop until we returned, ON TIME!!!, including New Orleans. That cop waving at the ship when we left was there to make sure the ship was safe on departure, he wasn't just being friendly. Did everyone see the guys on top of the roofs at some of the ports with binoculars? Customs has a job to do. I would rather be delayed an hour than have some kind of security breech because of complacent measures. I had breakfast at 8:30 am and then got in the walk off line at 9am. The line started moving about 9:30am and there were some delays through Customs, not Norwegian's fault. They were cleaning the ship and restocking while we were leaving. I was through customs, walked to my truck, loaded the bags and left the Julia Street parking lot and was out of the Port area and heading up I 10 at 10:45 am exactly. My job in the military was Logistics, which included load planning ships and the movement of troops to and from an area of operation. The job these cruise lines do is very impressive and organized. The one thing I agree with is that there needs to be a sign at the entrance to the terminal directing new arrivals to the processing lines. Once we got pointed in the right direction everything went as anticipated from start to finish, with the exception of a security delay. As for the people who had priority debarkation, I wish that hadn't happened to you. That would be rather annoying since you paid your hard earned money to have that level of service given to you but did not receive. I had a cheap room on the 9th deck and got pretty good service for what I paid. M2C

I wonder if this is the reason for increased security. There were 5 men arrested in Roatan the day we were there with stolen passports.

  9. hose and patti just got off the dawn this past sunday and will not come back until next june. they are good.

jumari will do the neil diamond tribute starting this week!:) I think he is better than jose and patti. just my opinion!!

Our next cruise will is on the Dawn on May 8, so we will miss them then, but they should be back for our Oct 21 cruise!!

I don't think I have ever seen Jumari.

    Thanks for the info.

  10. We were very lucky. We were on the Dawn on Nov 15. Got there about 1030 am. We were in a suite, when we got to the woman that was sitting people in the waiting area she had us sit in the front row, as soon as the reps opened up for check in, we were brought right in. They ran my CC took our pictures and escorted us to the suite passenger lounge. There the concierge introduced himself and gave us our room cards. I am not of the exact time, I think we waited in the lounge for about 45 minutes, as soon as Patrick got the go-ahead we were escorted on to the ship. I am pretty sure that was around 11:45 am. We wound up losing our escort somewhere around the escalator, so we got onboard with the rest of the passengers. (it was mostly people in wheelchairs). We knew where our suite was, so it wasn't important that we were escorted up.

We had a pretty easy time getting off the ship too...We were escorted off the ship from the Star bar without incident. One of the passengers ahead of us "dinged" on the way out, security pulled him (he looked to be about 20 years old) and his family out of the line and escorted him to the customs officer. I think we were back at our hotel by 1030.
