On a ribeye that outer meaty portion that generally is the best marbled and most flavorful.  Certain places such as Costco (not sure where Prnsessmoi got theirs) sell just a steak made from that portion rolled together.  Very delicious and decadent.

That was it! From Costco. I had never heard of them, until someone (on here, I think) was explaining them. Saw them at Costco and decided to give it a try. It gets a 👍from me. And the ribeye and filet (also from Costco) got rave reviews also. The cake was a sad little thing 😆 I haven't made a cake in so long! The middle layer of frosting is so thin its hard to tell its there. But, hubby usually eats his cake in a bowl of milk, so he probably won't even notice. 😉

  2. Prepping for Hubby's birthday dinner. Prime boneless (only because they didn't have bone-in) ribeye steak for him and son, prime ribeye cap steak for me, and prime filet mignon for DIL, asparagus, baked potatoes, mushrooms, and German chocolate cake. Mmmmm. C'mon dinner!

3 more sleeps...though I'm still too scared to get excited as I feel like its all going to come crashing down. My BFF that is cruising with me is SUPER sick right now - not covid as she has done 2 rapid tests and both negative, but very similar symptoms. Sigh. Why is there ALWAYS something!?

Ugh! Glad it isn't Covid, but sick still sucks. Will you still be able to go if she is not going?

  4. Wow, this has been a long year...and its only February?!

Lost my Daddy Covid) on Feb 6th, a close cousin on Feb 14th (not Covid), an aunt yesterday (don't know if it was Covid), and found out that a very close friend is in the hospital (since Feb 11th) with Covid. Both Covid cases were fully vaxxed and boosted. 😔

Yesterday in a conference call is when the boss told us about the sick guy. I asked if it was covid. He says he's not a doctor. A few hours later I'm in the boss's office. He says it's not covid. I asked if the co-worker was tested. He said no but the symptoms blah blah blah. I asked what happened to not being a doctor? "Well I'm not a doctor but I actually passed the MCATs." (likes to talk about how smart he is)

This morning he comes in and tells me the co-worker is going to take a covid test. So we'll see.

    🙄😏

    @PrnsessmoiThinking of you.

Thanks @HeyJut. I am here. Kind of.

My Daddy overcame so many health battles in the last 2 months, but the Covid pneumonia just took advantage of his exhausted body, and took him on 2/6.

Still in shock, and dealing with all the "business" that comes with the loss has kept me on autopilot these last few days. So worried about my Mama, with the upcoming dates, the would-have-beens...next month - his 80th birthday, June - their 60th anniversary 💔😥

    Its all so hard.

I'm sorry. =( That's awful. I seriously disagree with that whole visitation limit thing, even though I worked in a nursing home. I honestly think it was so detrimental for the residents. It was easier for all the staff because we didn't have to deal with families coming in. But I really don't think it's right to limit visitation for people who are already frail and need advocates. A bunch of the staff felt that way too but we were not allowed to voice our opinions really because it was pointless since it's the state that makes the laws about it. I hope your Dad gets well soon and you can see him soon. Also I'm sure you know, but he is always free to go home, and there are home health aides that can help him there too. It's an Against Medical Advice discharge, but check with insurance before doing that so that they don't charge. Sometimes hospitals don't tell families that so they have no idea it's even an option. Even from the hospital, you can tell them that you want home health instead and they will see if the insurance covers it. It's usually cheaper than the facility costs and safer, especially during covid times. I honestly think at this point they should just let everyone visit as long as people wear masks. There is no point to the gowns and all that imho. and your dad already has covid, so it's not like you're going to reinfect him. It's so frustrating that the people who make the laws claim to be protecting the elderly but it's not really imho. There should be ways to keep them safe and still have time with their families and loved ones. Sorry to rant but it was heartbreaking for us staff to see people who were dying and only got 15 mins with thier family. It's not right.

Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately his situation has changed. He was taken to ER yesterday morning with pneumonia and 60% oxygen sats. Got very confused and combative, couldn't get his oxygen up even with Bipap. Had to sedate and put him on ventilator last night. Now is in ICU, and I am the decision maker. Luckily, we had both Mom and Daddy do their wills, trusts, and advance directives last year, so I know his wishes. But it doesn't make it any easier. 😟

  8. Thanks for all the well wishes for my Daddy. It's been a rough couple of months. I HATE nursing homes, convalescent hospitals, rehab hospitals...and now with Covid causing staffing shortages, many of the staff that are employed being out sick, etc., the care that the patients receive is so limited. It is so frustrating for my mom to not be there to assure that he has what he needs.  We are working it out with phone calls, etc. Just frustrating and needed to vent. Thanks for the safe space. 😉

  9.  So, my Daddy has been between the hospital and a rehab (physical therapy) facility since December 2, 2021. Has a compression fracture in his lower back from a fall. And dealt with respiratory failure, and kidney issues. Got word from the rehab facility yesterday morning that he tested positive for Covid, and now has pneumonia. 😔 He says he just feels like a bad cold. But they have quarantined him, no visitors for 14 days. They had already cut visitors to twice a week (with appointment) and no more than twenty minutes at a time. 😕

Given all the uncertainty with restrictions and possible missing ports, would you all cruise now or opt to cancel? If given the option for a full refund or FCC, would that change your mind?

I actually collected the mail today, that has been sitting in the mailbox for way too long. In it, there was a Casinos At Sea offer for a free NCL cruise, to be booked by 12/31, and taken by 4/30. But...NCL is mandatory 100% vax. 😭 And, they say masks indoors. 😢😭

So sad. Will be passing on this.

  11. Good morning Tribe.

Getting ready for a short trip with Mama (78). Leaving tomorrow.

It is really special because she is the primary caretaker for both my disabled father and disabled brother, so she rarely ever gets to leave for more than a few hours at a time. And this trip will be 2 nights away.

We will be attending a wedding for her sister's (my aunt's) grandson, about 4 hours away from us, and the guys decided they could make it on their own for 2 nights. So I'm thrilled to spend this time with Mom, and I'm more thrilled that she gets some down time!

I just can't really get into this new season. May have something to do with the "woke" set of cast members...

I tried to get into it this season (haven't watched in several years) but I think that is the reason I couldn't do it.

@Prnsessmoi Is this the link you were looking for? Hope so...if not, maybe someone else can chime in.

It wasn't the one I had, but I'm glad you linked it. I hadn't run across it before and it looks interesting.

The one I had open had thread titles, the first several lines of the post, and showed "Recommended by..." or "Nominated by..." and an Admin's name.

    Thanks again for this one!

  14. Hey Tribe, hoping for some help.

I had found a list here on CC where admins were recommending "Live from..." threads. It was a nice place to find Live reviews. Sid's VV thread was even in there. But, my fat fingers managed to "swipe away" the tab this morning, and I can't find it again. Can anyone post a link, if you know of what I speak? TiA

I found the trick! If the "sprinklers" have recently sprinkled, touch the lettuce or something else that's damp, with the fingers you will use to open the bag. If there is no moisture on any of the produce, the wax they use in the tomatoes will do the same thing. (It's the little things) 😉
