You can only book it onboard. The easiest is to use one of the touch screen kiosks in the elevator lobbies. Select a clam shell and swipe/scan your room key. A voucher (which allows priority tendering) will be left in your stateroom.

On the island, select your clamshell and the clamshell attendant will set it up for you. There is little shade on the island, so having a clamshell is the way to go (or spending 10x the price for a small cabana.

Nope. the main buffet and small food stands are all complimentary. If you have a beverage package (Adult or Soda), it works at all of the bars on the island.

Lots and lots of loungers. Not so much shade. We always rent a clam shell (it's free with our ShoreEx credit). While we like the sun, we burn easily (even with SPF 100 spray).

They use large tenders from the island. Good thing is that they are bigger and give a slightly better ride. Bad thing is it takes a while to load people (at peak periods, they want to load as many people as possible). They have foot washes running on the tender ramps when returning to the ship (something to think about if you are wearing dry tennis shoes... flip flops and water shoes, it is a final rinse before getting back to the ship).

It is a really great beach day.

    Hi,

I don't see the clamshell rental listed on my choices for "excursions" at GCS in Apr 2022 on the Sky. Are they added in later on or do we need to book it after we board?

Also, are you saying that if I have dry tennis shoes, they will get wet?

    Thanks.

The handwriting was on the wall several weeks ago with continuing issues of closed ports for these cruises.  It became clear in NCLH's earnings call last Wednesday where they provided a chart showing later than originally planned return-to-service dates for these ships.  We'd already cancelled our Sun cruise as a result.  I wish all better success on rebooked cruises.

Do you have a link to that chart , please? I want to see what they list for the Sky. Our cruise is late April. Thanks.

Even if Canada allows a technical stop, a PVSA waiver would be required, since CBP has determined that a technical stop does not meet the PVSA requirements.  And, the cruise lines need to get their port/service agreements signed and their plans to implement the Covid Operations Manual, for their cruises, even if going with 100% vaccinated pax/crew need to be submitted, reviewed, and approved.

Thank you chengkp75, I always forget about the extra CBP rules.

"Norwegian Cruise Line President Harry Sommer also seemed to think that there was a pathway for an August restart in Alaska. "We've seen movement in the right direction," he said in a May 6 interview with Cruise Critic. "We remain optimistic that we'll be able to start."

So you applied FCC to Dec cruise? It wouldn't even let me apply FCC to a down payment or whatever it's called, and there was no reason for me to spend FCC before much later deadlines. Even my down payment seems to be refundable under the pre-Halloween sailings promotion. Probably my luck will turn sour and have a snag on a technicality anyway.

PS later edit: I have to enthuse that as I typed NCL gave me prelim FCC refund approval, bless their hearts. A potential obstacle is the cc they would refund to no longer exists; that is I had to have at least the acct number changed due to attempted charges by online thieves. Lucky I didn't cancel the account as was my first inclination.

I have found that if your account number changed, your credit card company will transfer the credit to the new number automatically.

If the account was cancelled, after NCL sends them the credit, you can call the credit card company to request a check to be mailed to you.

NCL drydocks roughly in the 12-16 day range.  Sun is older ship but had recent, major refurb.  As older ship, has to do more often.  Guess would be on shorter side.

Thank you. Good to know. We were also on the Sun on her first cruise after the last refurb and it was nice to have new beds, etc.

SUN will go to Portland for drydock.

Do you know for how long?

We are on the Sept 7 Alaska which will probably be canceled but it still shows on the NCL.com schedule to go from Seattle Transpacific on Oct 12.

They are in default itinerary status if you have something booked.  Which means they might cancel.  Or they might change the itinerary should the US decide to suspend the passenger-vessel restrictions.  So no new bookings for now to avoid future cancellation processing. There is always the possibility that Canada will change their current position- we are sending COVID vaccine to Canada, that could help to open up the border.

What is interesting is that the itinerary for the Sun (as posted on cruisemapper) has a number of holes while still in Alaska, which makes no sense whatsoever.

One of the Sun trips that is missing is the 9 day from Sept 7 to Sept 16, which we have booked. Since CDC said no cruises over 7 days until Nov, maybe they removed all of the longer ones. Even if Canada opens up, we still have CDC making the 7 day rule.   “Default Itinerary” shows on ours for this one.

I believe it will be reissued if they cancel the voyage in which case it will be good through end of 2022 (sail date)

Whats interesting is if you have any in your account unused, they wont issue a new one on a cancellation. I have two in bank and now I wont get one from my June cancellation because I didnt use the two I have.

Hi when you say if you have any left in your account do you mean a 10% coupon or any FCC?

  11. 14 hours ago, Cruise Wonderland said:

To clarify, I am referring as "per person". Each person can only use one 10% coupon.

If you book a double room, then passenger 1 can use one 10% coupon and passenger 2 can also use one 10% coupon. Hence total two 10% coupon in a booking.

OK, thanks. I think I understand.

So, I should book a cruise now to use the 10% we now have for each of us.

Then, when the Alaska cruise is cancelled, we should receive another set of 10% off discounts, and I can book another cruise and use those 2.  Is that correct?

I have tried 10% + 10% before. It does not work.

However I guess Serengeti228 may refer to the situation when you have a 10% coupon and a 25% coupon. Coupons at different percentage of discounts may be able to be combined, since the system may interpret them as different offers. The same offer cannot be used twice in a single booking, hence you cannot apply 10% discount for twice, but 10% + 25% could be allowed.

Sorry but I am not really sure, since I do not have a 25% coupon to try with a mock booking. I just heard this from other discussion threads. But definitely 10% + 10% is impossible based on my experience.

    Thanks again.

Some of the coupons can be stacked up. Some cannot.

Use FCCs and 10% coupons as examples. If you have more than one FCCs and more than one 10% coupons

    Scenario 1: FCC + FCC

Yes, you can use more than one FCCs in just one booking. The value will be "added" together. For example, a FCC at value USD 100 and another FCC at value USD 200, then you can use them together at USD 300.

    Scenario 2: 10% coupon + FCC

Yes, you can mix them together in just one booking. Calculate the 10% discount first, and then deduct the value of FCC.

For example, original fare is USD 1000 and FCC is USD 200.

    The final fare us 1000 x 0.9 - 200 = USD 700

    Scenario 3: 10% coupon + 10% coupon

No, you can't use two 10% coupon in the same booking, neither adding them nor multiplying them together. The discount will only be topped at 10%.

Thank you. I am a little confused about Scenario #3, since Serengeti228 above stated they were able to do it.

You can stack up as many discount coupons, be it 10%, 25%, together with other FCC fixed value, in one single booking. If the base cruise fare is $1000, excluding Port fees/taxes, etc.. the 1st 10% is applied on $1000, and the 2nd discount is applied on $900. The discount or FCC will be applied in sequence. You can apply the discount coupons anytime from the moment you make the new booking till the coupon's "use by" date.

I have applied 2 different discounts and 2 different FCC fixed amount to a single booking. I told the NCL PCC in what sequence they should be applied to maximize the savings.

Wonderful info. Thanks you the specific example.

Our April 2021 b2b cruises were canceled and my DH and I each received 2 10% off coupons.  1 each for both cruises.  When they are applied to a new or existing cruise it is 10% off the cruise fare (not total price) for each person.  So yes you can use 2 10% coupons on one cruise.  1 for each person in the booking.

Hi, thanks, yes, I understand using 1 for each person on the booking.

If we have each have 2 10% coupons, can we each use 2 on a new cruise booking?

This is what I was told I had 3 cruises cancelled so far - 10% off discount FCC: if guests had received a 10% off discount FCC from a previously suspended sailing, that FCC will revert back to their client profile. They will NOT receive an additional 10% off discount FCC.

Hi, I did not have "a 10% discount FCC from a previously suspended sailing" on my Alaska cruise, so I should still be able to get a new 10% discount if it is canceled, right? Then I should have 2 10% discounts on my account, one cancelled April and one from cancelled Alaska.

Can I use them both on one new cruise for 2022?

  17. Hi, can you use 2 of the 10% credits on one reservation? We have one credit already from the NCL cancelled cruises for April 2021 and it looks like Alaska 2021 will also be cancelled. If we receive another 10% for Alaska, can they be put together for 20% off the base fare?

Or maybe it would be 10%, then 10%, which is actually 19% off?

    Thanks in advance

Short answer, NO I would not book for a June 2021 cruise to Alaska. Cruises through April are all canceled and I don't feel there will be Alaskan cruises this year.

Correct, this just came out. Pretty sure that they will all be cancelled soon:

The Canadian Government on Thursday issued a new order which will prohibit cruise vessels in all Canadian waters until February 28, 2022.

The ruling effectively kills the Alaska cruise season for foreign-flagged ships as well as other cruise seasons in the Great Lakes and Canada/New England for ships under foreign flag. Only a handful of smaller ships fly a U.S. flag.

Thanks, do you have a link, please?
