  1. I just played on X's website and looks like they had a price drop. I am currently in a MC Sky Suite and for about $200 more I can move to a standard Sky Suite. Other than the bed being turned, which is better?
  2. I have been away from the boards for a while and wanted to see what the latest is on returning loungers. We booked a MC Sky Suite on Beyond.
  3. We did the Edge Alaska in June 2024 and all public areas were not loud. I was a bit worried as the only seat one night was in the Martini Bar right next to the trap set. I was impressed, they were like a synthetic or electric trap set and was a perfect volume.
  4. We had one this year on Edge. It was our first time and we walked in thinking we were going to hate it and we loved it. PROS: It was Alaska so we could set out there without freezing. It made the room feel bigger It was nice not having to deal with a door to sit on it. It was nice not having curtain to flop around letting in light at night...it was Alaska. CONS: First one up couldn't peek out to see where we were in the morning without having to open up the black out curtain -- slow and noisy. Opening the window and black out curtain was slow and noisy.
  5. THAT has been at contentious thread on the boards is Eden tends to be north of $17 for the higher end products.
  6. I looked at my app for my Beyond Cruise on 1 June 2025 and here is what Luminae shows for boarding day lunch: APPETIZERS: Borscht Soup Prawn Ceviche Kale Salad ENTREES Creamy Lobster Roll New York Steak and Fries Seared Branzino Butternut Squash Farfalle Cobb Salad Luminae Signature Burger DESERTS Creamy Dark Chocolate and Dulce de Leche Apple Berry Crumble Menu looks pretty nice to me.
  7. I have thought of doing a suite guarantee, but I would rather have a little more control over stateroom location. I don't want under a buffet, pool deck, fitness center, or above the same. Also don't want an AFT either. Had a horrible experience on HAL and it ruined us on AFT: Smelly, noisy, lots of vibrations and that was in a Neptune Suite, one suite down from the largest suite.
  8. I am sure this has been addressed somewhere before either by someone else or my pea brain doesn't remember doing it myself. I am on the Beyond next year for 7 nights out of Miami. What is the possible earliest we can arrive at the port? I understand there is a Retreat check in area at the port featuring seating and continental breakfast with coffee, and we may be asked to wait there until the ship opens up. This is our first time, and probably the only time, we will ever be in a Retreat. We got a heck of a deal on it. We just want to be able to fully appreciate the suite life experience.
  9. On Edge had the same thing happen. I drapped my jacket on my seat so we could get our food together and eat together. As I was leaving, I literally saw someone remove my jacket so they could have the table. I rushed back and advised them that the table is occupied as denoted by the personal property you are moving.
  10. Now I wonder if I screwed up. Next year we are doing the Beyond and since it is mine and DH's 30th anniversary (Feb) and my 60th (Jun), we decided since they had the BOGO75 we could splurge this time and get a MC Sky. This will be a 3rd Celebrity cruise (Solstice, Edge) and usually the most luxurious we go for is Concierge Class. The only real perk in that is embarkation lunch, and a nice lounge to wait in until our turn to disembark at the end of the cruise. Of course we get extra points per night.
  11. While we never ate there on our two cruises (Solstice and Edge), we did notice at breakfast and lunch they were very Indian and Asian heavy on the food. You could still find American. The quality was pretty good I thought for a buffet, but on our two cruises it seemed like they did not rotate the offerings out. Perhaps at night they do.
  12. Before you upgrade, make sure you are on a revolutionizized ship or E class. I looked at your ship you mentioned and while there is a retreat deck, it does not seem to have its own pool, like beyond.
  13. I had the strangest dream last night that I was on a cruise on Beyond, so far not that strange as I have Beyond booked next summer for 7 nights. Because we were in a Retreat (Sky) and celebrating a 30th anniversary earlier in the year and a 60th birthday on the cruise, we got an invitation in our stateroom for dinner with the captain on the birthday evening. I know such a thing only happens in The Love Boat, but still worth dreaming. Has anyone actually gotten to experience this and how did you score it?
  14. On our Edge Cruise in early June this year Dawes Glacier we never got "accosted" by a ship photographer the entire time. No dinners, no shows, no boarding, nothing. I ask our concierge about specifically the welcome aboard just as you are about to board the ship and she explained because of immigration laws their visas or just for working on the ship. If the step off the ship onto the ramps or terminal, they are now working in the USA. This made since to me but never saw them the rest of the ship and it was nice not having a camera lens stuck in your face.
  15. We were Concierge and spoke to our Concierge once on board and she set us up perfectly.
  16. This is VERY much WORTH bring up with management. I had a friend on a different cruise line who was in a similar situation. He was in recovery and the insisting pushed him off the wagon. Any F & B person must be aware that there is a reason the person said no and let it be. The passenger needn't divulge what the reasoning is for a no. This could be anything from personal choice, religious choice, medical choice, or they are in recovery. If the latter, is it important that they take that no and walk away and not push. The passenger in recovery is already in a situation, but their will power is making it work. As in the case of my friend, he felt awkward and gave in to make the wine steward happy.
  17. And since I married into the airline industry we try not to connect in MIA if we can avoid it because it is too easy to misconnect there, especially in the summer. Even it the flight ends there, anything can happen.
  18. We are on the Beyond June 2025 out of Miami. We have some friends of our that are past guests of X and they told us that when we print out our passenger book to print all the pages as somewhere is a sign we give our Uber driver so he can take a dedicated lane to drop us off. I read recently on here that while we are Retreat, Sky Suite is not considered Retreat enough and we have to go through the main traffic lanes. Is this true? This must have changed because our friends would not have booked the high end suites.
  19. I noticed that on Solstice in 2022 and thought it was a Covid thing. What a great idea!
  20. Yes, however we were Concierge and spoke with our Concierge once on board and she set us up for a standing reservation for 6 PM rotating through all the MDR and we were fine.
  21. You are braver than me. We nearly missed a Princess cruise in San Francisco because our flight was an hour and a half late. Princess had two grand class ships boarding at the same time at the same dock, needless to say it was stressful and confusing. I always recommend going the day before.
  22. Edge June 2024 was our second X cruise and first on Edge and we loved it. The ship is beautiful and felt more like a floating resort hotel than a cruise ship. The only gripe I had was if you took the wrong lifts to the 3rd deck you were a bit like a hamster in a maze trying to find the way out. We learned when going somewhere always check the signage at the lifts and it will tell you if you need the forward or aft lifts to get there.
