  1. Those $17 prices are killing me. I am used to paying $5 for a well martini at my local Elks Lodge. I tend to go into sticker price shock when I order a drink outside the lodge. LOL
  2. I know this sounds like an oxymoron but I don't want to know too much about the cruise, even though I have asked some questions. I still want the wow factor when I board without knowing what I will see.
  3. I forgot, as you can tell by my distaste of being sung at on my birthday, I am very much an introvert. With everything that goes on in Eden at night with the performers, I wonder if it might be too much. Sometimes I wonder if I am on the spectrum just not diagnosed yet. I really get uncomfortable being pointed out by a comedian or up-close performers.
  4. I just realized that in 30 days we fly out for our cruise that leaves in 31 days. No to try to get 31 more days of sleep. LOL
  5. That is one pro/con is the no curtains. PRO: Don't have to worry about the edge flopping and not closing properly CON: With no curtain, does the frosted French doors do enough to keep the light out at night?
  6. That was one of the pros I was thinking. Mexico and Caribbean usually too hot and humid to enjoy them but with the VV I figured shouldn't be a problem.
  7. We used them in 2022 from LAX to SEA and was disappointed. When we booked, they offered only Delta non stop. Knowing American, Alaska, and United offered nonstop at the time we went with it. The return flight was so painfully late we had to sit in the airport for hours with no access to the airport lounge with Delta's new rules, we could no longer buy a day pass. We are doing the same cruise again and booked direct with American. Since I have lounge access with them we can use Alaska's lounge in Seattle.
  8. As I understand, about a week prior to your cruise, the app will have the full schedule, subject to change, of activities and events. Sometimes it will appear several weeks prior.
  9. We have been on Celebrity (X) once on the Solstice coming from RCCL. We tried HAL as we were over the pool parties and theme park vibe RCCL is heading to but we were too young for HAL. The sidewalks roll up about 830 PM but other than that we loved it. We then tried X and we are hooked. Our Activities Director was Giuseppi who sadly actually works at corporate but he was finishing out the season. I was always switching the TV on first thing in the morning to watch him give highlights of the day. You will LOVE X. I speak of the Solstice so not sure about your ship, but once we quit going to the buffet, the food quality was so much better. They did B, L, D daily in the main dining room. Live shows were great - comedian not so much. I thought I would miss the bingo games as X does not do them but Deal or No Deal, which we did not participate in and I was glad they weren't pushing bingo or their game down our throats. The adult pool was a nice escape from the music and what few kids were on our cruise. Being Alaska it was also warmer too. Do a couples pedicure on a sea day. DH and I did it and it was so relaxing to watch the sea go by while getting the tootsies pampered. They don't sell it that way, we had to schedule two at the same time.
  10. We have an upcoming cruise on the Edge in a Concierge Cabin with a VV. I have heard they are a love/hate thing and it is our first time to get one. What do you consider the pros and cons of them?
  11. Thanks. Actually I should have researched more before I posted. As I was waiting for a response, our port city Ketchikan has a parish that will meet the ship and shuttle you to Mass and back to the ship.
  12. My birthday is a At Sea day on an Alaska cruise. We usually have issues paying extra for specialty dining or eating in the ports when all our meals are included. Call us odd, call us cheap, I know the haters will make their comments. Anyway, moving forward... What restaurant would you recommend for dinner for my birthday. It is just the two of us. DH does not eat red meat or salmon. I will eat anything you set before me except rocky mountain oysters. LOL. I also hate being sung at on my birthday so want to let the staff know, but want to keep it low key. Any other suggestions on how to spend my birthday?
  13. We will be on the Edge at the end of May and Sunday on the cruise is a port day. Other than Sunday, there is no Holy Day of Obligation during the cruise. Will there be a Catholic Mass aboard the ship or should I find a local parish nearby?
  14. I believe they are surcharging everywhere even regular bars. The premium package as I understands only covers up to $17 drinks but looking at the menus on the apps a majority of what I am interested in is north of that price.
  15. Relax. Two years ago was my first and I was panicking based on videos and print material. From Celebrity's website: As you can see it is more relaxed than the olden days of cruising, which is fine with me not having to pack or rent a tux. You will see a few and I mean only a few dress to the nines based on my last cruise which was Alaska. What’s the dress code? Do we have to dress up? Smart Casual attire is required for entry to main dining, specialty dining, and the Celebrity Theatre. Smart Casual means you look comfortable yet tasteful in a dress, skirt, long pants, or jean, and stylish top or button-down. Shorts and flip flops are not considered Smart Casual. Each itinerary features one to two "formal" nights we call Evening Chic. Evening Chic means you dress to impress, glamorous and sophisticated in your own way, with a cocktail dress, skirt, slacks, or designer jean, an elegant dress top or blazer—some guests even pack a tuxedo or gown for onboard photos. The Daily program, delivered to your stateroom and available at the Guest Relations Desk, will be your guide to the correct attire each evening. If you do not wish to participate in Evening Chic, Smart Casual attire is acceptable for dining and theater. What types of clothing is appropriate for dinner onboard? Most nights, Smart Casual attire is appropriate for dinner in the Main Dining Room(s). For 6 night cruises or less, there will be 1 Evening Chic night where women should feel comfortable in cocktail dresses, skirts, pants or designer jeans with an elegant top. Men should feel comfortable in pants, designer jeans, long sleeved or button-down shirt, sweaters, sport coats or blazers. For 7 night cruises or longer, there will be two (2) Evening Chic nights. How many formal nights will there be for my cruise? For 6 night cruises or less, there will be 1 Evening Chic night per cruise. For 7 nights or longer, there will be 2 Evening Chic nights while onboard. While Tuxedos and Formal attire is still appropriate, they are not required and guests will feel comfortable in both formal wear and a dressier smart casual style. Jackets are not required.
  16. So I see Oceanview offers theme nights like your example above Taste of India. It looks like the main dining rooms don't offer that, correct?
  17. We went on her fall of 2022. The Marini Bar is worth it. Try to get a bar top seat to watch the showmanship of the bartenders. Coffee bar was nice especially when returning from cold wet Alaska ports. We were not impressed with the buffet and fortunately they served B, L, and D every day in the main dining room which was a nice change. If they do the 80's night or the Abba Sing Along GO GO GO! Introvert me had a blast! Shows were good, comedian not so much. Ship photography was awful. They shot at angles that insinuated our stomachs and had cutesy images on the photos. We did not buy any of them. Alaska that did have vats of hot chicken broth waiting for us when we boarded to warm up. That was a nice touch.
  18. That's the choices. Our last and first Concierge Lunch was on Solstice in 2022 and we thought it was meh. We were both afraid that was the quality of the food on the cruise, and happily it was not.
  19. I just saw a Youtube video that showed through the app, no matter which dining room you are in, Cyprus, Cosmopolitan, Tuscan, or Normandy, I can order off the other restaurant's menu this way I can maintain the same waiter and table throughout the cruise. With that, which of these four is known for the best service? We are also hoping for a two top, not to be anti-social, but because our personal schedules at home prohibits us from dining together very often. Our first X cruise was in 2022 on Solstice and the waiter kept tripping over himself to get us to his table. He was great.
  20. We will be on Concierge Class first time on an Edge ship and this will be our second X cruise, the first being on Solstice. Any info you can give me?
  21. Since we have a 12 PM Concierge Lunch, the board time assigned won't work. Surprised they gave us one that late.
  22. They probably think, "Good you are here get on so we won't have to worry later about you."
  23. That is true. The sooner they can push people off and clear the ship with customs the sooner they can open boarding.
