  1. I have only done it once before but like you I am waiting on a couple of bids for our 9 October cruise. I think the bids stay as pending until they make their mind up who is getting what. The bids that you are not getting are changed to expired. If they all go expired then you stay where you are. If one remains as pending then your bid is likely to be accepted within a few days and you get an email to that effect. I suspect that this late in the day that they are waiting to see what late covid cancellations occur unless there are cabins still available for your cruise. Ours is almost fully sold out with no suites available to book. The other one that we did we were successful with for a PH and heard around 4 weeks before the cruise. Good luck.
  2. As did we on our one and only Alaskan cruise which was the last one of the season. It was colder in San Francisco, which was our second last stop, once the sun went down than in Alaska.
  3. It depends on what you are looking for. The lawn club is good. We are probably on cruise 9 or 10 on Silhouette and we always go there. There are a number of fish dishes - scallops and shrimp and Salmon plus excellent steaks. Tuscan always leaves me in a mix. The food is either great or poor and you really don’t know which you are going to get and that is our opinion over a 22 cruise 10 year experience. It should be so much more consistent but we have continued to be disappointed. They keep asking us to go back and they will get it right next time but they have run out of chances for us. Murano has always been very good food but at times the staff are a shade pretentious for our liking but we have never had a bad meal there. We have never done the Petite Chef but as far as we are concerned it is a one done and over experience. Sushi on 5 we have no experience of but I am sure that I would enjoy it but my wife not meaning we have not been there. The Porch we like but we would only use it if it was included in the room because we feel if is overpriced for what you get especially if Luminae is open as we usually travel in a suite.
  4. While we like the CS and have sailed in them a number of times, we have very little benefit from being either Elie or Elite Plus as we usually travel in suites which come with the beverage pack, tips and internet and since they stopped Zenith guests using the Retreat there is little incentive for us to reach that level. I would save your money. The elite benefits don’t make much difference to us.
  5. Try doing dummy bookings on the Celebrity website for your cruise and see what the current cost is for each room. Take the cost of your current cabin and add on the upgrade cost to see if there are any potential bargains when compared with current cost.
  6. That's why you need to get the HDMI unlocked. The butler will get someone to do it or will do it himself if he has seen it done before.
  7. What you need is a USB-C to HMDI adapter for current iPads and a long HDMI cable, probably with a right angled socket at the tv end and you also need to make sure that the HDMI socket on the TV sorted to allow it to be used. I have done this once using the lightning adapter on an older iPads and once the HDMI socket was sorted on the tv it worked fine.
  8. The ship needs to clear out the guests from the previous cruise so around 10.30 to 11am is probably the earliest you can expect to board. The first ones allowed to board are those doing B2B who are allowed back on with their new seapass cards once the passenger count gets down to zero. Then usually the suite guests get on. There is no absolute definite time that you are allowed on because, as happened to us on a B2B in Fort Lauderdale, the passenger numbers on board got to one and stayed that way until the crew quarters were searched and the missing passenger was removed from the ship, but you can usually count on getting on by around 11am.
  9. It is like all drinks served under a beverage package. You have to be very specific about what you ask for. You don’t ask for a vodka or you get the well pours, you need to ask for Grey Goose or Kettel one plus your mixers and you can ask for the can or the bottle of mixer rather than out of the gun. The bar tenders will always give you the cheapest unless you ask for what you really want.
  10. There are still a fair number of cabins available to book in most classes even a couple of suites.
  11. The one they used on our robes was not the prettiest thing I have seen in my life but I guess we were just happy to receive them.
  12. I suspect that a lot of the issues that people have had are due to the pandemic. Our last cruise was in a PH on the second Silhouette after it was revolutionised which also happened to be, I think, the second last cruise before the close down. We got the robes, which were monogrammed and have not frayed despite two and a half years of use, we also had dinner with the captain on the second night of our cruise, and the suite manager, concierges and our butler (as they were called then) were all over us everywhere we went. We couldn't have asked for more.
  13. Just following up on my last post, I rechecked the bid levels today and the maximum amounts for both cabins had increased since yesterday not by much but the £5 saving yesterday has now gone £25 upwards so they are messing about with the bid levels through the bidding process. I cannot remember the bottom end of the bid levels to assess if they had changed.
  14. Your "old PH" which was the only suite available last night has disappeared from the web site this morning which can probably mean either it has been sold, someone has put a hold on it and it will reappear later or they are sorting out the MoveUp bids. I made bids on both the RS and the PH to cover me if an RS person got the PH or if someone else got the RS it meant that we still had a chance on the PH. I will let you know the outcome but we are perfectly happy with our original suite.
  15. The original bid I made was to the maximum at that time. The maximum bid was reduced. It only reduced by £5pp for a cabin that is currently not available.
  16. Your post made me go and look at my bids to make sure they were still at the level I wanted and I ended up with a reduced bid for one cabin type and it wouldn't let me keep what I had originally bid.
  17. Last time I did a move up it was between 4 and 5 weeks before we were told. Good luck.
  18. Did you click the upgrade offer button? The highest part of the page that opens up shows the bid status.
  19. In the email you received confirming your bid if you look at the paragraph below the bold Important you will see the word HERE with a line under it. Click on the word and it takes you to the Plusgrade site and you will see your bids. Click on upgrade bid on any one of them and it will show you the current status of that bid. If you hot the back button in your browser it takes you back a step and you can repeat through your bids.
  20. If you got to the bit asking for your card details, it is likely to have registered.
  21. I saw something on the web site that there was some adjustment for loyalty status but what I remember there were 5 tiers of from 1% to 5% there bids were enhanced with the 5% being for zenith status. Just re found the page https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/program-changes
  22. We usually travel in suites and the last time I felt the need for anything other than a jacket with an open necked shirt was about 7 years ago when they did away with formal nights. What I would say is that what ever your decide it will not be out of place due to the mix of dress, unless you insist on shorts and a t shirt! You will find people in kilts and dinner suites but, while not out of place, will be in the minority.
  23. One the only Edge cruise we have done we opted for a corner S1 which has a huge balcony. We would stay there again.
  24. We have done 3 up till now. The bathrobes were a fairly new addition, I think following the Revolution. The only problem with the robes was the amount of suitcase room three of them took up.
  25. I am not convinced that they did anything to the bathrooms or the walk in wardrobes as part of the "revolution refit". They still looked the same as pictures I had seen pre refit. There real of the cabin has definitely been redone . The Celebrity suite that we saw a couple of years ago also had no changes at all to the bathroom. It was exactly as before including the bathroom doors.
