  1. Nancy! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing.

Which ports? I've done 2 1-time sailings (11/16/13 San Juan-Miami on Conquest: St Kitts, Dominica, St Martin, Antigua, GT; 11/1/14 San Juan-Miami on Splendor: St Croix, Martinique, Grenada, Dominica, GT).

And I did 8-nights on Freedom on 11/28/14 (DR, Aruba, Curaco, GT) and 8-nights Conquest on 5/31/15 (St Kitts, St Martin, San Juan, GT). And 7 nights on Pride on 5/3/14 but that was just Freeport, HMC and GT.

Of course, I've written reviews. :D

I was joking the other day that Grand Turk is my new Nassau. Past 5 cruises have all called at GT and none at Nassau. Honestly, I'm beginning to think I prefer Nassau. At least there, I can just get off the ship and wander around town.

    Good to see you back!

Thanks! Glad to be back. It has been an interesting year to say the least. I may actually start reviewing again.

I suppose I am mistaken and I am on the Western itinerary. Ugh. It's Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Costa Maya! DOH!

  2. I will be going on the Eastern Carribbean for the first time and was wondering if there is an existing picture heavy review for this itinerary. For the first time in 11 years of cruising I wont be visiting Nassau! HA!

It's been a long time since I have frequented the pages here so I am out of the loop on recent reviewers. Can anyone point me to a really good/fun/informative one? Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the kudos folks. Below in my signature are links to my reviews. I have retired from the review writing business for now. After Andrew passed away I really don't feel right doing them. But my son and I went in May of this year and had a wonderful time. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

  4. I do believe that Fascination out of Jacksonville is different. We had to take an elevator to lido when we boarded. I dont recall them having a gangway like they have in Charleston for Fantasy. I am confirming with a friend that this is the case. She sails on Fascination quite often. I am going again in october. Perhaps if you tell them upon boarding that you cannot take the elevator and would they please direct you to the stairs that they should accomodate.

  5. We had anytime dining on one of our cruises and Andrew and I were seated at a table with 3 members of the entertainment staff and one of their friends. We made it a point not to talk "shop" but spent time getting to hear about their families and let them lead the conversation.

I had an opportunity, as a favor, to be escorted down to the crew bar on my last cruise. It is sooooooo very small. I can see why some staff members would want to have a cocktail or two in a larger venue. I have no problems with that.

  6. I haven't been on CC much over the last few months so I never saw this post until today. I loved reading your reviews and hearing about the antics that you and The Andrew got in to!

I am so very sorry for your loss. I will say a prayer of comfort for you as you continue to grieve.

Thanks Jenny. This has been just a total mess. :(

  7. So sorry for your lost. I also know that this is not timely in consideration to the original post, but it is the first time I have read it. Our thoughts and prayers for your continually.

Thank you. These last 17 weeks have been quite difficult. I miss him so much.

We are on the same October cruise that goes to Nassau and Little Stirrup Cay. I'm going to look for that button on Barefoot Beach. After reading one of your reviews and reading how much you loved that part of the island, we will be setting up shop right on that beach. Is there shaded areas over on that beach? How is the snorkeling right there? Hope you are doing well. Your reviews have gotten me so excited to go back on the Fantasy. It's been 12 years since I've seen her! Take care of yourself.

The button is up in the shady area on one of the pine looking trees. It's on a very small branch. There is a rock under the base of the tree and a little vial that has a cigar in it. It's right as you get on Barefoot Beach to the right and up the little sand dune. Let me know if you find it!

The snorkeling on barefoot beach is pretty non-existant because it is shallow all the way out for many many yards. There is a link to the review in my signature so you can get a better idea. There is really good snorkeling on the first beach you come to when you get off the tenders though. We hung out at Barefoot for a few hours and then ate lunch and went swimming at the good snorkeling area spot.

  8. PS Just thought to mention all4funandfunforalls Fantasy reviews (wonderful)..they are great and now precious memories for all of us who get involved in them..Prayers and love to Nancy and The Andrew in the great beyond...Sarah

Thank you Sarah. I am so glad I documented those memories. Now I will always have a journal of our trips together. Cruising without him is hard but I know he would want me to keep cruising.

  9. So sorry for your loss. You guys made cruising look so fun for just us regular people. I loved your reviews...my husband and I will be on the Fantasy for our first cruise in October. We will make sure and head up to "home base" and have a bucket of beers for the Andrew.

Thank you! What itinerary are you going to be doing?

  10. When I go this coming Jan. I will be going to Little Stirrup which I have never been too so looking forward to it. Have been to Nassau 5x and really don't get off the ship unless I'm going to a casino (same with Freeport). Really like the 7 days (going in march) with Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay.

The staff are great and even though she is an old ship she is in great shape.

P.S. Nancy miss u and Andrew

I really enjoyed LSC Tami. Of course it's not HMC but if you want to find an out of the way, away from the noise area, go over to Barefoot Beach. We stayed there all day both times we went.

    Miss you too.:o

  11. All4fun&fun4all,

I'm so sorry to hear of The Andrew's passing. I've never cruised but have read all of your reviews (as someone else recommended as you being the one "in the know.") It was fun to look at your pictures to get an idea of what to expect. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

    VolFanForever

Thank you. I miss him every minute of every day. I am glad that you were able to get something from the reviews. :)

  12. I just got off the Fantasy in May of this year. It was my 5th sailing on Fantasy. This itinerary went to Little Stirrup Cay and Nassau. It was my second trip to LSC and my 7th trip to Nassau. Loved both of the ports.

Since I have sailed so often on Fantasy I am used to the staggered embarkation and our group was the very first people on board this last time. If you are parking at the port there is a little bit of a longer wait since they have to completely empty the parking warehouse before they let others in. You will then take a shuttle from the parking warehouse to the terminal.

There are several Fantasy review links in my signature. I am sure some of the information may be a little out of date but there are TONS of pictures. And of course some ideas for ports of call. I have sailed the 7 day to HMC, GT and Nassau, the 5 day to Freeport and Nassau, the 5 day to LSC and Nassau and the now defunct 6 day sailing (that was awesome) to Key West, Freeport and Nassau.

This last time I was with smokers so during the day, between activities, we sat on lido at the area next to the stage where the middle stairway comes up from promenade. We sort of made that our table. There are really comfy couches on promenade but be careful sitting in them. You may just fall asleep. :p

Debarkation can be a nightmare but next time, my plan is to just sit and hang out on lido until the absolute last minute. That way I can avoid the line on the way out. Since I live in Charleston and don't have to travel far to get home it just makes sense to wait.

I was going to do a review for the May sailing but my heart hasn't been into it since the Andrew passed away in March. :(

  13. There is a review in my signature below of the Halloween cruise that I went on. It was on Fascination. I loved that they had special drinks for Halloween and themed desserts in the MDR. Lots of cool costumes and sooooo many people dressed up. There was a costume contest as well. That was one of my most favorite cruises.

  14. Yep, that is exactly why, that and possibly some scalding water...

You do spend (depending on the ship) about 30 minutes in the galley including a few of you making your own dessert in the form of melting chocolate cake.

Bob, is it cheaper to do the Behind the Fun on the smaller ships? Do you know how much it is? Oh, and thanks for the coffee the other day! :)
