  1. So have I! But you can't persevere when they won't talk to you!
  2. Just checked alternatives. Eavesway doesn't pick up locally anymore so will involve taxi, train, taxi, hotel then Eavesway. Same on return. Train involves two changes plus London Tube. Then taxis at either end. Plus a hotel. I am struggling to find any other feasible way! May have to cancel.
  3. How! I'm not quibbling about the government (or EU rules), but if P&O don't want to take someone on board (for whatever reason) they don't have to.
  4. That is irrelevant. The Government say you CAN travel with three moths left. They don't say P&O HAVE to let you travel with only three months left. If you want to cruise with P&O you abide with their rules. One employee, who gives the wrong information, cannot change the whole company's T&Cs. P&Os 'help' centre is notorious for giving out duff info.
  5. As I said above cruise ships don't always end up where they aim for. Therefore, to avoid stranding passengers in a country for which they don't have the proper paperwork, cruiselines enforce the stricter protocols.
  6. So it is only valid (for cruising purposes) until 9th March 23. Which has passed. As I said above, you may intend on going to Amsterdam but may not end up there.
  7. Ignore the expiry date on your passport. Look at the issue date, and add 10 years, then take off six months. That is the latest valid date. P&O (and most other cruise lines) insist on this because even though the ship might not intend on entering a port where it is required, it might end up there anyway. And in case of a medical emergency you might be taken to a country where the rules apply.
  8. Went through a dummy booking online. The deck plans in this process do not have symbols or a legend. Hence my query. I have since found deck plans on the site, but those are not the ones you see when booking online.
  9. Being somewhat lacking in stature I much prefer shower only bathing arrangements. I am a P&O refugee (after many years of being a fan), and it was always possible to determine which cabins were shower only from the deck plans on their website. But, I'm having trouble getting this information from Saga website. Are all cabins shower, or bath or both? Thanks
  10. Over the last few days I have tried several times to phone Cruise Connect to book my included coach travel for a cruise in July. After being on hold for between 12 to 20 minutes I get either one phone ring out then silence (but the call continues in complete silence) ,or diverted to voicemail, which is full and I cannot leave a message, and the call is ended. Has anyone else tried to book a coach transfer recently?
  11. I use a beach coverup/dress with my cosie on underneath.
  12. I've cruised solo many times since my husband died in 2009. I love it! It is far more relaxing and fun than having to negotiate activities and mealtimes etc. There is always plenty to do and I never feel left out. (For example, P&O organise the deck games so everybody is randomly paired up so nobody is left out). If you opt for fixed time dining on a large table you will be seated with other solo travellers, and have a good chance that a few of the others will want to go to the show, or for a drink etc. If there is a noisy table at dinner it will be one of the solo tables! As a male you will be in great demand as a dance partner if that is your thing. The only downside is couples saying how brave you are! I find it patronising and I'm not the one arguing about what to do, or sitting stoneyfaced at dinner not talking to the person opposite.
  13. They were being phased out pre-covid. My last pre-covid cruise didn't have them.
  14. Same table, same time, same people. As a solo cruiser you get allocated to a table with other solo cruisers. As least you do if you request a large table (usually for eight).
  15. I didn't see anyone wearing a mask on intercruise coach last July.
  16. To me picking the phone up, dialling the number, waiting for an answer, explaining what I want, waiting for the reply etc is 'not doing anything' certainly a lot more effort than clicking a few buttons whilst brushing my teeth. And as for making a special journey, wait in a queue to speak to someone to make a reservation, that's a lot more effort than I want on holiday. And, no, I didn't grow up with technology!
  17. No mention was made of how to dispose of my self administered positive test last July. I used my common sense and put it into the sanitary/medical bin in my bathroom, as per the signs on said bin.
  18. You state a preference when asking for fixed dining, and for table size. As such, no request can be guaranteed. They reserve that right. That said, I've always got what I requested. But I've never asked for a table for two.
  19. With only three weeks to go I can't imagine there is much choice left.
