  1. Because you are paying for them in your cruise fare, and will never use them. And, they are taking space that could be used for something which you may use. And, as said earlier, it indicates the clientele they are aiming for.
  2. I've had that happen when photo was taken at check in
  3. I'm surprised by those saying many places won't take credit cards. I went about five years ago and had no trouble using credit cards. It was the "old fashioned' chip and pin though.
  4. Not if the photo you uploaded was suitable. I uploaded my passport/driving licence photo. They didn't take another one. There was a few who were having photos taken, and held up the queue.
  5. It just will. You need to do nothing. You will probably get an email several weeks after your return about it.
  6. None, use a credit card. They are a civilised country and will much prefer it. And, your card issuer will give a more favourable exchange rate, and you won't be left with unspent currency and coins which can't be changed back. Never taken any currency for as long as I can remember.
  7. Me neither. Well, only to show photos of today's trip ashore, or the grandkids. Or, more recently to show somebody else how to use the 'app'.
  8. If people want to hideaway in their own little world, amuse themselves, put a barrier between themselves and the outside world they will. They may uses a newspaper, a book, a crossword or a phone. That is not the phone's fault, it is a tool being used by the person. Would you blame a book or a newspaper?
  9. You aren't very observant then. And, I've seen plenty couples sitting at a table for two ignoring each other, phones or no phones. People are not obliged to talk to each other.
  10. Long before mobiles people used to hide behind newspapers, magazines and books. Phones fulfill the same purpose. Most are not on social media, they will be browsing newsites, reading novels or articles. Not everyone wants to spend their time chatting to strangers. Sometimes people want to eat, or drink coffee in peace.
  11. To all intents and purposes so is the UK. I cannot remember the last time I paid for anything with cash. I don't carry any. Any shop that has a lower limit for card payments simply does not get my business.
  12. There was a dedicated quarantine area on Arcadia. I succumbed the day before mask wearing was encouraged. The first question I was asked by the medical staff was 'are you in a balcony cabin, or would you like to move?' Of course I said I'd stay. Three days later even those in inside cabins had to stay put.
  13. You will stay where you are. If you are in a non balcony cabin you will be given the choice to move (if there are any isolation cabins left).
  14. I think they were also available at poolside, but were definitely in cabin.
  15. Not technically free. As you say the cruises that have these things are more expensive. So I would be paying for things that I would not be using.
  16. Or, carve out your niche and aim at a particular section of the market. Which is where P&O are getting a bit lost. They are not sure what they are aiming for. Apart from being British.
  17. You can view your account through the 'app. It's worth using just for that even if you don't want to book dining and entertainment.
  18. Could have a visa thing? Some countries won't issue a visa if you had visited certain other countries. And, if you don't have all necessary docs for the places the cruise is visiting you will be denied boarding.
  19. I know that in the evening cabins stewards were delivering meals to covid isolation passengers. My cabin steward brought my meal at least twice during my six day isolation.
  20. Yes, but outside of the six week school holidays the average age of passengers is very much 50+. Not many of that age would be interested in waterslides (would insurance even cover it?). USA school holidays are much longer (three months?) therefore have the younger family market for a greater length of time. The thing that puts me off the larger 'resorts type ships is the amount of stuff that takes up most of the space that I am not interested in doing, unable to do and/or is pay extra. I look at them and see such as flo rider, climbing walls and water slides etc and think 'well I won't be doing that'.
  21. Yes Yes, but they are cans now. Yes Yes If you want towels changed leave them in shower or bath. Don't know Yes No. On boarding you go to your muster station to get your boarding pass scanned (proves you know where it is), then proceed to cabin where safety video will be playing on TV. Yes
