  1. I suspect that the older ships had WiFi retrofitted, whereas the newer ships had it built in so will work better. Also the older ships have more metal in their construction, which blocks wifi signals, but newer ships are built with less metal.
  2. Nobody has any idea when, or if, Aurora is leaving. It is well founded speculation taking into account the age and size of the ship. P&O have history of releiving itself of older smaller ships.
  3. The 'app' isn't an app. It is a section of the ship's intranet (NOT internet), so you need to be on the ship really as the reach of the ship's intranet is very limited. The instructions are in your cabin. If you have trouble there will be staff mooching about in reception area whose sole job seems to be sorting this out for people.
  4. Not on Arcadia you can't. Couldn't in July. You had to use the app.
  5. At the very least they have to physically check and scan your passport.
  6. Dress code is only required in MDR, the Crow's Nest (or equivalent), and maybe some other venues (depends on which ship). Never known it apply to the theatre.
  7. Just be aware that for a myriad of reasons you not get to the places you expected/hoped/planned to. You may end up somewhere better! Is is a fact of cruise holidays, don't pin your holiday around getting to seeing a particular place, and go with the flow and you'll enjoy it a lot more.
  8. I hate that too. And, I'm not in a wheelchair.
  9. Just be aware that you may not actually get to any of the ports Is it at the Captain's (and port authorities) discretion. This can be due to weather (the main reason, and their weather reports are more detailed and accurate than any app on your phone), or mechanical or an issue at the port itself. It happens more often than anyone selling cruises will admit. It is a fact of cruising and experienced cruisers accept it. Not trying to put you off but a lot of people are not aware and let it ruin an otherwise perfectly fine holiday.
  10. You can use the "sailaway" vouchers at any time, in any bar. I've done it frequently.
  11. Booster jabs don't only work on a cruise ship! They might come in useful in the supermarket for example 😁
  12. That is who booster jabs will be offered to. P&O don't ask for them.
  13. No you don't. Second boosters have just being rolled out. 90% of the population cannot get one. (And yes, that number was plucked out of thin air).
  14. No. Urban myth. Bacronym. (People retrofitting a phrase into a word).
  15. Book once on board via the app. They don't show on website.
  16. Seen it a few times for various stuff. It's to prove that the card is legit. It either gets refunded immediately, or taken off final bill/account.
  17. Yes, had brainfart it's 48hrs. Some other cruise lines have 72hrs? Anyway, it's a moot point as there are no checks anyway. I'm sure that everyone who had a car sick child on the way to the port, or had a dodgy kebab a couple of days before the cruise also declares it on the health questionnaire? It's just the cruise companies covering their backs, so they could say they have covid and norovirus protocols in place.
  18. You used to show your physical ticket at check in. That was superceded by an e ticket, but you still had to show it at check in. They then printed and gave you a boarding pass. Now you check in on-line and print your own boarding pass. Check in is now more like a passport and document check.
  19. Did this when I was on Oriana a year or two before she was decommissioned.
  20. At the moment you just have to declare that you've had a negative covid test in the previous 72 hours. But does depend on the policies of countries being visited.
  21. Depends where you are going. You should have an email detailing what you need.
  22. You can do that with P&O, but risk trips being sold out.
  23. No. The clue is in the name On Board Credit.
  24. Just like you do when asked if you have had sickness or diarrhoea in the previous 48hrs before boarding.
