  1. Just be aware that you may not actually get to any of the ports Is it at the Captain's (and port authorities) discretion. This can be due to weather (the main reason, and their weather reports are more detailed and accurate than any app on your phone), or mechanical or an issue at the port itself. It happens more often than anyone selling cruises will admit. It is a fact of cruising and experienced cruisers accept it. Not trying to put you off but a lot of people are not aware and let it ruin an otherwise perfectly fine holiday.
  2. You can use the "sailaway" vouchers at any time, in any bar. I've done it frequently.
  3. Booster jabs don't only work on a cruise ship! They might come in useful in the supermarket for example 😁
  4. That is who booster jabs will be offered to. P&O don't ask for them.
  5. No you don't. Second boosters have just being rolled out. 90% of the population cannot get one. (And yes, that number was plucked out of thin air).
  6. No. Urban myth. Bacronym. (People retrofitting a phrase into a word).
  7. Book once on board via the app. They don't show on website.
  8. Seen it a few times for various stuff. It's to prove that the card is legit. It either gets refunded immediately, or taken off final bill/account.
  9. Yes, had brainfart it's 48hrs. Some other cruise lines have 72hrs? Anyway, it's a moot point as there are no checks anyway. I'm sure that everyone who had a car sick child on the way to the port, or had a dodgy kebab a couple of days before the cruise also declares it on the health questionnaire? It's just the cruise companies covering their backs, so they could say they have covid and norovirus protocols in place.
  10. You used to show your physical ticket at check in. That was superceded by an e ticket, but you still had to show it at check in. They then printed and gave you a boarding pass. Now you check in on-line and print your own boarding pass. Check in is now more like a passport and document check.
  11. Did this when I was on Oriana a year or two before she was decommissioned.
  12. At the moment you just have to declare that you've had a negative covid test in the previous 72 hours. But does depend on the policies of countries being visited.
  13. Depends where you are going. You should have an email detailing what you need.
  14. You can do that with P&O, but risk trips being sold out.
  15. No. The clue is in the name On Board Credit.
  16. Just like you do when asked if you have had sickness or diarrhoea in the previous 48hrs before boarding.
  17. I don't particularly like Azura or Ventura, but love Britannia. I also like Aurora and Arcadia. It's not the size that matters.
  18. Well, that's another reason not to report any symptoms to the medical centre. Mind you, you don't get compensation from P&O if you catch flu or a cold, or anything else and stay in your cabin for a few days. And, I've felt far worse with a "normal" cold than I did with covid. (Yes I know it's not the same for everyone, so no comments about long covid etc).
  19. You have to anyway. You got to the muster station when you board, get your boarding pass scanned, then go to your cabin, your cruise card will be in your pigeon hole, and the safety film will be showing on the TV.
  20. Wonder if was the same one that was on for first half of 5th July cruise? Your description fits.
  21. If you mean the one who was standing in for Martyn Sharples for the first week of 5th July cruise I agree. He was probably fed up at having to do cover. However, Martyn Sharples was the complete opposite, patrolling the decks, talking to passengers, etc. Very amusing and personable.
  22. Name of ship would help. Not gonna log onto P&O website to find out. Also, nobody knows for sure in advance, can change at short notice.
  23. Someone has just posted in another place that they have received a reply to their complaints about the 5th July Arcadia cruise.Refuses to go into anymore details of the complaint or the reply because they are too long. There follows a string of people worrying about upcoming cruises and begging for more details which are not forthcoming from the op. I've tried to allay their fears by pointing out that the majority of problems were specific to that cruise and were no longer an issue. Why do people do that? JUST DON'T.
