  1. I assume that gt also indicates "guarantee", there is only two spaces allocated for deck number, so it is abbreviated to two letters. Also, cabins can be allocated at any time up to, and including, check in.
  2. I saw a family on Aurora in July with their own trays. They were only half the size of the normal trays. Could only fit one large plate on it so, in my opinion, a waste of time and effort. As a solo traveller I worried about how I would cope, but I managed fine. Got meal, left it on table with obviously unused napkin and cutlery, a nod to a neighbouring table, which indicated my intention, and got my tea and/or dessert. Never had any problems.
  3. Have you got that the right way round? Surely hand towels should be changed more frequently! If you use a flannel or sponge in the shower all skin flakes are removed then and washed away. That is not true when washing hands and therefore skin flakes are transferred to the hand towel. It is more important to keep your hands clean than other parts of your body surely?
  4. I agree. That many showers a day can not be good for the individual or the environment (especially if they insist on a clean towel every time too). If you factor in the time it takes to change, shower, dry, reapply lotion etc, and dress it's getting on for the best part of two hours a day. I've better things to do on holiday! I remember the days of one bath a week (not sharing the water, except maybe with my brother when little), and a "flannel wash" in between. I don't remember the flannel getting changed daily either!
  5. If you use a big dinner plate I'm sure you could carry three or four. (More if you use both hands).
  6. Use a plate underneath in place of the tray.
  7. This topic was kind of covered in another thread many moons ago about how many showers a day people had. A considerable number had three or four a day. First thing in the morning, when coming back on board after a port day, before dinner and before bed. The bathroom will never get a chance to dry out, never mind the towels. At home the bathroom door stays open (unless in use) to dry out. That is not really an option on board.
  8. I beg to differ. You nearly qualify as a Southerner 😁
  9. There is one in Keswick, and another in Penrith. That is the true north west. From where I am Manchester is considered the beginning of the Midlands.
  10. Does your phone plan not include an amount of "free" data? I pay £6.00 per month for unlimited calls, unlimited texts, and 2gig of data, which rolls over. Have downloaded apps, played Pokemon Go all the time ashore (no I'm not staring at my phone, you can set it to play itself), WhatsApped messages and photos and videos and emails etc and still have data to spare. As long as you put it back on airplane mode when sailing there's no need to go WiFi hunting, and put your online security as risk.
  11. I assumed the reference was to speciality dining.
  12. Cabin can be allocated at any time up to boarding. When prebooking excursions you just access your booking via ths P&O website using your customer reference, no need for cabin number, I assume booking dining will be the same.
  13. Maybe those on board now could ask if the tutor had heard anything.
  14. I think there is no freedom dining on Christmas Day. So all those on freedom dining are allocated a time. I don't think it affects those who are already on fixed dining. I stand to be corrected
  15. I have seen both classes on Arcadia and Aurora. But it is implied that they will stop on all ships.
  16. I have read reports on Facebook that a tutor has reported that Carnival Corporation are no longer going to be running Art or Craft Classes on any of their ships, particular reference was made to Aurora and Arcadia. This has come from one of the tutors who says they have been told this directly by P&O. I personally do not attend these classes but I know lots of people do and enjoy them (depending on the tutor!) Has anybody else heard this?
  17. I agree, all those things happened on my latest cruises.
  18. A bathrobe is made of towelling. A dressing gown can be made of any material.
  19. Mind you, I've ran into people heading towards gangways for a port that had been cancelled two days before! There had been announcements, letters to the cabin, messages on the tv, The Horizon was showing sea day activities, countless moans from passengers etc, but it had still completely passed them by! There is no helping some people!
  20. Got the card left in the morning last July/September. Sometimes in the pigeon hole outside the cabin, or on the bed. It was obvious when walking down the corridor that there was cards in pigeon holes of "do not disturb" cabins. It was also on the navigation channel on the TV, and in The Horizon. I think it was also announced in the theatre at the end of the show? The waiters also told us sometimes. To my mind clock change announcements are hard to miss as it is, and going by the number of passengers who pick up their copy of the next day's Horizon before dinner then get confused about the evening's entertainment making a bigger announcement on the cover would lead to even more uncertainty.
  21. The ships are both "of an age", both a similar size, both adult only. They have a different layout, but facilities are much of a muchness. The ambience is much the same. Some prefer one over another, but I can't say I have a strong preference either way. I would choose which itinerary I prefer (if there is a difference), sailing dates, availability of preferred cabin(s), and price.
  22. Yes I agree about the stops. It is not a timetabled service. The route, and the number of passenger pick ups dictate the route and timings. That is why you need to book it in advance so the route and timings can be worked out. They are in touch with Southampton re any boarding delays. They are also in constant contact with other drivers, and are aware of any holdups and will slow down, or speed up as necessary.
