MoveUp - Is how much I paid for my current suite factored in?
Mark_K replied to FloroidaCruise's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I’m not at all sure they let inside cabins bid for Iconic suites. In any case, the inside only gets them $10,000, while you get them $7,000, potentially plus, what a person in a SS bids to MoveUp to a CS, plus what a person in a SV bids to MoveUp to a SS, etc. -

Expiring Passport -Bermuda question. Please help

Well, if you’re really type A, unless you didn’t change your name when you got married, you should also have your marriage license to tie your drivers license to your birth certificate. Anyway, it couldn’t hurt to take them, but I don’t think there’s any situation where an unexpired passport valid for the duration of the stay would not be acceptable, and just a drivers license and birth certificate would be. -

That one hour-ish flight from Leeds to Rotterdam can’t be that bad. -

PIF - Assuming it means Paid In Full, I learned a new TLA today. -

And the airport is somewhat in between. About an extra 1/2 hour to get to the Rotterdam cruise terminal vs the Amsterdam one. -
Actually, you wouldn’t know unless you successfully purchased a cruise that showed unavailable on the Celebrity website. I do know that either I had incredibly poor timing, or they don’t, since I’ve had the cruise price change between when I logged on and when I tried to purchase.

They have been known to take a cruise offline if a major repricing is in the works. Some websites take an occasional snapshot of a cruise which they present to customers, but they don’t actually check realtime availability until near the end of the booking process.

FYI March 7, 2024 - Royal Caribbean International has announced a delay in the debut of its new ship, Star of the Seas, leading to the cancellation of its first two sailings scheduled for 17 & 24 August 2025. Currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the second Icon-Class vessel is now expected to enter revenue service on 31 August 2025. The cruise line expressed regret over the impact on booked guests' vacation plans and provided options such as transferring bookings to the rescheduled inaugural cruise or opting for other ships. Star of the Seas, powered by LNG, will operate year-round from Port Canaveral, offering seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, with its maiden voyage featuring Western Caribbean destinations.

Is Smith back in business? I think they ceased operations during Covid. When choosing a hotel keep in mind that Regal Princess uses two different terminals, and sometimes leaves from one and comes back to the other.

It could just be optimism on their part, but Regent in February, 2026, has a stop scheduled for Lahaina. Their January, 2026, stop is still in Kahului.

If I’m at a table for 6/8 I feel somewhat obligated to be sociable and engage with the table mates. If I’m at a table for two, even if it’s inches away from the next one, I don’t feel the same obligation.

Interesting reading, here, but let’s not forget that one data point does not make a trend.

Seems to me that a ship would be preferable to a land trip if you’re worried about sudden problems. I have some friends that were on a land tour in Israel last October. They spent several days hunkered down in a hotel before they could get a flight back. The people on Oceania’s Nautica just sailed away a day early.

And it looks like mine is at Alfredo’s Pizzeria, maybe I can grab a slice or two to have on the lifeboat.😏

Assuming you want to spend some time in Sydney, if you fly there first, your internal clock is likely to be discombobulated, but if you arrive by ship, it should be pretty much in sync. I know it takes me a day or two… There are currently no SYD<>HNL cruises scheduled that stop in Tahiti and Fiji. There are cruises that start on the US west coast that have stops in Hawaii, Fiji, and Tahiti. One on Carnival this September, and one on Princess, September, 2025.

Celebrity cruise ship going to a port visiting a plantation
Mark_K replied to beshears's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Actually, all you have to do is click on a person’s name to see their recent posts. Which I only did in the first place hoping to get a clue as to what type of plantation you were looking for. Imagine my surprise when I saw the same post on cruise line after cruise line. -
You’d probably be better off asking on the roll call for your cruise. Roll Call

If your wife is not in close proximity to you and orders a drink, whether in the casino or not, I doubt that it will magically be applied to your medallion.

I spent close to 40 years in IT, when I retired 12 years ago, I pretty much just chucked it all. Bought a cheap laptop for email and games, which morphed into an iPad. And occasionally I buy a new iPhone.

I do mine with a Bluetooth keyboard connected to my iPad. I haven’t used my PC in so long, I think it’s Windows 7.

I remember those days, dining room full all cruise long, then 20-30% of the people missing on the last night.
