  1. Have not been on Oceania since they had just the Regatta. I am wondering about the PH cabins, as we are booked in a PH3 and it looks like there could be a lot of noise from the cafe above. Previously we were in what would now be a PH 1 and there was morning noise putting deck chairs out very early. I would like a couple of suggestions on recommended cabins on that deck. Thank you for your comments. We have time to change, and do not want a lot of noise.

  2. Our flight into BCN arrives at 9:30 a.m., the four hour tour (where have I heard that before?) begins at 10:30 from a place in the airport. I'm reticent to book it in case our flight is delayed or luggage is slow arriving in baggage claim thus, voiding the tour.

Have any of you hovered in BCN (with luggage) until it's time to board the ship? What have you done that works (there are 6 of us)?

    Thanks in advance.

I know it is too late, but you should have come in early and stayed a few days. Beautiful and interesting city. Have a great cruise.

  3. Agree there are a number of circumstances in which people may be out of pocket directly or indirectly so blanket no one statements are not entirely helpful just now for those impacted

Thirteen months out is also an issue where you have worked the cruise around other plans that might involve flights etc some of which could now be booked.

It looks like as others have said that booking for the Far East is a massive lottery given the propensity to take on charters in that area.

I still believe the cruiseline should accept NO charters after a ship has been placed on general sale. Yes I know all the economics Orator and Cle Guy but I also know about customer trust. I have no issues with charters so long as they are determined ahead of publication of schedules.

I feel really sorry for those about to have to replan their trips next year. Been there, it is an awful feeling. We had pencilled in one of these trips and had provisionally scheduled business trips in China round them. Funny the Chinese do not do change when they are calling the shots so I expect the business trips will go ahead and we will be scratching around for a holiday option (no I do not want to join the charter with 2000 locals :) )

I totally agree! People do make plans far out for specific reasons, and usually pay more to do so. We have been to Asia, and probably would not go back, but for those of you, it is bad business!

  4. We have never used choice air. It seems like fares never show up from where we want to fly out of. I did find for our upcoming Xpedition trip that we did well on our own. Also I can never find business class on their site. We try and book immediately when the 330 days before fares are available, and have gotten business class for what coach ended up being closer to travel time. Have good luck booking directly with the airlines.

Not quite sure but think this what I have been trying to convey. What would you suggest would be appropriate perks for OV over inside, balcony over OV and so forth up the chain of categories. Where does it end? Is it appropriate that suites get whatever and any cat below, be it CC, Aqua, standard balcony or whatever get only what is within the four walls of their cabin?

For you...nothing! You get food, your room cleaned

  6. Jeesh dude get your facts right. I wrote the original piece, did you read it? I'm not sure I made any slant either way, oh I remember I didn't. Simply presented two perspectives on the issue. My collegegue and I thought it was an interesting dialogue with merits on both sides. Green eyed monster? What an......you fill in the blank.

Sorry poppy, but you did this on purpose. So you got what you wanted!

  7. I don't even understand why this is a topic for discussion. Suite accomodations are open to everyone, as are concierge class, aqua, and standard staterooms. If Celebrity chooses to make the prices look more attractive by the addition of certain benefits, that's just good marketing. Same thing is done by airlines, hotels, etc., so why would one comment or even complain about the practice?

I agree! However some people have to make a big deal out of something. You get what you pay for

  8. I too, am concerned about rising cruise prices. My last four bookings with Celebrity show a rather ALARMING trend.

    October of 2013, 15 nights for $449pp. ($250 OBC)

    April of 2014, 15 nights for $630pp. ($250 OBC)

    October of 2014, 15 nights for $649pp. ($350 OBC)

    April of 2015, 14 nights for $699pp. ($450 OBC)

If this keeps up, in only 5 or 6 years, I might be paying the AVERAGE price.

What category is this for? It looks pretty reasonable

  9. 10 years ago we book a cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Chile. It was cheaper than flying. We were in CC and it was about $1900 each for two weeks. Now it is $2800. I personally do not think that is excessive for 10 years.

I book way in advance, and rarely check the prices. For what we book, the suites, they go up in price as it gets closer to sailing, if they are available.

Just booked New Zealand for Fall 2015, and thought the rate was fine. If you see a trip you want to take, then book it, and don't wait ,as someone else might get the cabin.

  10. If it's a suite related free meal, they will pro-rate the dining package for you to account for the suite doing specialty restaurant, from what I've read here.

Thanks, I was wondering about that. We get one on the Reflection..have a Signature suite, and was curious if the package was worth it. However, we are not found of the MDR....too loud.

  11. I just returned from a 10 night mediterranean cruise on Reflection...Michael's was often occupied by suite guests. I also remember it being quite empty prior to this new suite program. I applaud Celebrity for the new perks for suite guests. The bottom line is, if you want the perks, book a higher end suite (just as if you want perks on a flight, you usually need to book something beyond economy class).

Thank you. Very well said. Maybe this issue will be put to rest.
