I have a cruise on the Reflection in November and one on the Xpedition book and paid for. All of a sudden the first one is missing when I log in! I called the Captains Club, got some rude supervisor who was no help. I know their site can be a major headache, but has anyone had something missing that had been there from day one?
-
Just booked the Signature Suite for the end of January on the Reflection. Thoughts and recommendations for dining and overall experience? This will be my first time in Celebrity...
We booked one also for Nov.....should be great!
-
We had a suite guarantee on the Century, and it was fine, but we had major noise problems because the sliding doors to the buffet were right beneath us. I prefer knowing what cabin I will be in.
-
Yes, we sort of left celebrity! and sailed on Silversea ...save your money. A joke! additionally Crystal was nice...cabins were very small but excellent food. We liked Regent and Seaborn, but frankly I think Celebrity is an excellent value. Booked a Signature in November for my 70th birthday, and will return to the Galapagos in January
-
Very interesting. Having had a miserable experience on Silversea. Not getting what you have paid for, we have been coming back to Celebrity. I think they offer something for everyone, and do like the new suite perks.

Highly recommend the company above. Great service and no more expensive than a taxi

Don't book a suite. I can typically do 2 to 3 cruises in an inside cabin for the price of one suite. I also live in Florida so at least one of the cruises won't require airfare.

Do book a suite! I love the extra space....
-
Hmm! Absolutely.
I only book Sky suites and I'm officially a millionaire, but I need to know how you all can afford to cruise so often! I don't understand where you are coming from either, and I just can't take this enquiry seriously!
Retired, no mortgage, no car payment, and no kids to support. As my DH said to some neighbors who ask the same question...
-
Thanks for the picture of Zenith! We had one of our best cruises ever on her back when she was sailing out of JAX. :)

I just loved the Zenith. My DH only complaint was the chairs were crowed in the MDR...we did South America on her and a Deep Caribbean!

I was abble to attach the price listing but can't upload the descriptions, file is too big. If anyone has any suggestions for the descriptions, it is a PDF that is 2.67MB I will gladly post.
I am not cheap, but those are really high. $90 for a gel manicure????? I pay $25.
-
South America. Around the horn! Chile is so beautiful!
-
We loved the Park Hyatt! You cannot beat the location.

When ever I try to see what is available on choice air, I get no results. So I just called, and ended up in an outsourced call center. The guy was rude, and I hate getting sent to a 3 rd world country,

Do I see an agenda here? We know you love Celebrity,we get it!
Actually I do like the Celebrity Xpedition. FYI I do not like their big ships. We were discussing communication with Silversea...also a previous passenger...of theirs. Not prompt on responses. Just a fact...nothing more. Last cruise was in July on the Paul G. And next on the Xpedition.
-
Merriem- on the contrary. I have had wonderful responses from 3 different officials at SS. And I have yet to take my first cruise with them.
That is great! You don't expect anything if you have not spent any money! IMHO
Spend your hard earned coins, and see how quick they are to respond...like the OP says...no response!
-
Thanks for all the suggestions, I am sure I will get the information to someone who can reply to my questions.
Good luck! They are not very communicative. Celebrity is a delightful choice for the Galapagos. Going a second time!
I read about that trip. What a shame.

By way of update, I did have a quick email from Frank Sansone, Director of Guest Relations, that he received the letter my wife and I had written them about our experiences on board. I was hoping to have something positive to report by now, since he said he would try to get back to me by last week. I imagine with the holidays it's taking longer for them to deal with all this, and they certainly have their hands full. I'll post an update when I know more.
I have dealt with Frank. Do not expect anything.

I must say how sorry am hear to hear about your unpleasant experience. We were on the Celebrity Xpedition in 2008, and it was delightful. No I am not hijacking this thread, but must say that Silversea is a major disappointment. They are unpleasant to deal with.
Please do not find fault with the crew! They are just an example of poor management. The Ecuadorian people are pleasant, friendly, and as nice as you can expect. It certainly sounds like this is the Silversea attitude,, and not the fault of the employees.remember good service starts at the top. I commend you for contacting the company, but doubt if you will receive any satisfaction.
No ship should sail if it is not ready and is unable to provide what you paid for. We all work hard for our money, and expect in return satisfaction.
Just because Silversea has a 6 star rating...where that came from I do not know. Yes, the islands are amazing, but you could see the same thing and not have paid for a "luxury" cruise on many other ships.
Again, your review was on spot, and I would be furious to have spend my time and money for something that sounds like a 2 star ship! Yes, we were on the Shadow, and it was pathetic. Yes, I have a hard time understanding why this company is the way they are..so sorry your trip was totally unsatisfactory. It kind of reminds me of my meeting with the hotel manager on the Shadow...nothing accomplished, just lip service.
We look forward to our next Xpedition next year!

At this point it is difficult to compare the various Galapagos options as the Silver Galapagos is so new. I thank Carefreecruise for his/her honesty with one of the first comprehensive reviews. I have researched many Galapagos options and I am willing to put some faith in the Silver Galapagos. I'm not sure why Merriem is commenting on this thread as any intelligent traveller on this forum will have explored all the options including celebrity and obviously has chosen Silversea instead. As Merriem must know all food in the Galapagos must be obtained locally (a celebrity ship lost it's license for a period of time due to ignoring this rule in June of this year) so comparing food to the Silver Shadow is not valid. I am not a cheerleader of any cruise line. I look at itinerary and sail with the company that fits my needs. Thanks for your recommendation Merriem but I have chosen the April 19/14 cruise on Silver Galapagos.
I hope you have a great time. It sounds like the ship was not ready to sail per the original poster. However, I know that Silversea customers are loyal. We were not pleased, but do love the Galapagos .
-
Well, for what they charge, you sure should expect that. Yes, the animals are amazing, but you are paying a lot!
Also, the food we had on the Silver Shadow was horrible. If you like it..that is great. However, you cannot live on a reputation that you cannot live up to,
-
Yes your paying a lot. This person that hijacked the thread does not understand you get what you pay for. Have been talking to other guest on other ships and yes they are seeing the same animals but not having the same after or before excursion experiences. This thread is about Silversea not who has the cheapest cruise or who sleeps in a closet to save money. Just like fine dining some get it and others are happy with a big Mac and can't figure out why anyone would spend so much money on a meal. So for the people that care about this ship, I will finish the review on Sunday and post it up on Silversea section on Cruise Critics.
Excuse me, I did not hijack the thread..I simple stated a fact. You are paying a lot. If below satisfactory is your thing..then great! Having been to the Galapagos and going again, I have some experience on what you should get for your money. Yes, have been on Silversea..and not impressed!
-
Thanks, Carefree Cruise, for the informative reviews. I am going on Dec. 14 cruise and will try to keep an open mind but plan an inspection as you did. I think I have been spoiled by Le Ponant's Le Boreal, a luxury expedition ship that I took to Antarctica and the Arctic. I recognize that Silver Galapagos is still adjusting but had expected all the interior would be new and spiffy. I am sure the whole experience will be fine, and the Galapagos wildlife spectacular, which, after all, is the objective.:) Enjoy your final night onboard.
Well, for what they charge, you sure should expect that. Yes, the animals are amazing, but you are paying a lot!
-
I would recommend Celebrity. You really get what you pay for! We will be going for the second time next year. It is a fine tuned operation!
-
Drron is correct about the $100 park fee. Celebrity just includes it in the fare. I specifically inquired about this when we went.
Of course it is included in the price, but Celebrity has proven itself over many years there. Few trips do we take twice, but that is one to do again.
