  1. I've brought my own, sensitive sinuses, can't trust what the smells of products might be.
  2. I was surprised when I recently booked a TA + British Isles cruise Majestic for Spring 2026. I was able to see then tell my TA to book obstr. view balcony mid-ship on Emerald deck. In the past I could not see cabin availability and booking it as a single not an easy task.
  3. Good to hear, I'm on the Emerald Quebec to Fort Lauderdale in October. Last cruise on the Emerald was in 2018, South America 30 days, ship was great, cruise was awesome.
  4. I use the stairs, not a fan of elevators, usually fairly close to both. I've never had excessive noise issues. I will say I'm usually not on cruises that are shorter, or family oriented.
  5. Interesting thread! I booked a TA + British Isles on the Majestic for Apr. '26. I haven't been on the "newer" Royal class ships, have sailed on Regal/Royal, loved them. Looking forward to the Majestic, traveling alone, which dining venues are onboard are never a deal breaker for me. Main thing for me is I'm happy they are bringing traditional dining back!
  6. I think you'll be fine, as you know best about your family. Don't let the reviews sway you, as others have said. People zero in on things, deal breakers for them, which may not be important to others. Enjoy your cruise!
  7. I like going to the casino but choose my spots/time carefully. I am hoping this rumor is true but as always with Princess another wait and see what happens moment.
  8. I've always used the National Express bus service, it's reasonable, then a taxi to my hotel from the bus station (not far or difficult). It's a 2 hr. ride and $20.-$30, haven't taken it since 2019. I've booked online at their website.
  9. I'm sailing Oct. 17th, can't do dining either. I had an older app on my phone so I uninstalled, did the new one, didn't matter. Can't book dining, eventually I will. Today is a busy day probably. I've been doing web version, not using my phone but decided to try today. It does say I've done 7 of the 8 check-in things required. I don't put my credit card stuff until later.
  10. I have, too, for my Oct. New England cruse. I'm a traditionalist, traveling alone and I want set dining every evening. I don't stress or worry over anything I have no control over.
  11. And 2 threads with the same title, an hour apart. It's 5:30 a.m. on the west coast, not exactly a time to panic. People need to r-e-l-a-x. I read more than I post these days, I don't understand the urgency, intensity over topics.
  12. You're right, from Princess.com: Making all dining formats available fleetwide follows the resounding success of this new approach already implemented aboard the new Sun Princess. With the stunning introduction of the new next level Love Boat came the debut of three-story dining room with one floor dedicated to traditional dining, another serving guests with a flexible reservation and a third for anytime walk-ins.
  13. I'm wondering if this "rumor" came from an article end of May mentioning Carnival, RCI making changes. https://www.thestreet.com/travel/carnival-cruise-and-royal-caribbean-make-popular-smoking-changes Looking around the internet, can't find anything else current in terms of Princess.
  14. Enjoy Norfolk! Last time I was there I toured Nauticus and USS Wisconsin, it was good.
  15. I think it's a matter of time. We see many comments here about the casinos, how bad the smoke is and I'm sure same is showing up in Princess comments/surveys. I've been in the casino, witnessed a group of women sitting by the machines, not gambling, just smoking. It.is.time, long past due.
  16. It was, been cruising single since '82, but never did the share thing. In the 80s, 90s, NCL, RCI had 15 or 20% supplement, slowly going up to 50%. Princess would have positioning cruises with no supplement once in awhile, that's how I got to Tahiti. They'd list them in their magazine. I did travel with the Singleworld group as they had single fares, too where their supplement was less than what the cruise lines were charging. Paying double bugs me but I like to cruise. When there were travel magazines, I had several letters published My theory if a cruise isn't going to be full isn't it better to have one single person on rather than an empty cabin?
  17. Following along, I'm doing the Quebec/FLL on the Emerald in October. Thanks for posting! I'm doing Plus, haven't cruised since 2019 so was curious about the wine talk I've read!
  18. I feel if I'm bored, unhappy it's more a me thing than others, I'm responsible for myself, how I feel. I never set expectations on what things around me should be. I go on a cruise, expect to have a good time and always do. I've cruised with 6 lines, most with Princess then RCI also Carnival, Celebrity, Costa and NCL. Princess remains my fav, best fit for me. Disappointed in Celebrity because many raves about how much better it was, learned about expectations, Tried a 2nd time, no better than the first. I've always felt the crew on Princess far exceeds other cruise lines. It matters to me, I don't want to be around a bunch of robots.
  19. That's great! Sailing single, I choose my cabin as I'm picky about location. I had one upgrade on a transatlantic from inside to an obstructed balcony. Last minute, didn't find out until I got to the port in Barcelona, Fortunately my inside was on Emerald deck, too.
  20. I sail single and my TAs price considerably less than Princess just now when I checked. I'm going to book the Aug. 1st Norway Fjord cruise prior to the Aug. 8th Eclipse cruise.
  21. Now when I check, pricing isn't available, thinking I might do the Norway one prior rather than the Scandinavian one after. Depends on the deposit as Solar deposit was higher than normal.
  22. Crazy it's listed as sold out. Just checked because I'm booking a 7 day cruise after this one. I don't like flying so far for a 14 day cruise. I've done it, prefer not to, usually I'm doing a TA for one way. Seven day goes to Scandinavia ports, just a little break.
  23. I'm booked, TA emailed, she got an obstr. view balcony on Emerald Deck. I had given her a list of cabin #s, I'd take. I booked/cancelled the eclipse cruise this year so wanted to be in line to get a cabin on this one.
  24. I don't use the buffet area, just isn't appealing to me. I can get something to eat at the IC easier and nowhere near as crowded. I've never been a fan of buffets, as well as fast food chains. Don't eat that way at home so why would I on vacation? I see so much food waste, people taking way too much then not eating it.
  25. Thanks, I had in my brain one day ahead, but I'll check with my TA to make sure!
