This is not a post to share a drink package. My husband wants a drink package but i do not drink. I know I can call and get the refreshment package for me but I wont get the value from it. I want to get the evian water package . coffe, If he bought his drink package himself on board would they still force me to get one since we are in the same room? Or would just he be able to get one without noticing I dont have one. I don't drink pop or coffee either

I called Royal about this issue.  We want to get the  drink package for my husband. I can't drink (alcohol) at all. They said I had to get the beverage package. It's fine for me.  I do drink the coffee drinks and lots of bottled water. You do get shakes and "mocktails" too many calories for me but I guess for those that like to indulge.. a nice perk. Maybe not my monies worth. But rules are rules.

Our cruise is not until May 2020. I'm hoping for a sale (fingers crossed.)

The sad part is it makes it harder to even book things or plan with Royal because you can't ever figure out how much things will cost in the future.  We booked originally with NCL with the free drinks and a balcony, then opted to switch - think the drink packages would have been about what we paid on the Allure last year.  We got the Allure for $32 which I though was great, figured even $40.  Worst part is if it hadn't been for getting the $18 drink package, I might have considered switching back to NCL with the drink package now being at $60 a day.  It would be nice if they just had a price and stuck with it.  With the never knowing, I am not as likely to book a future Royal cruise unless I run across a spectacular cruise price which is doubtful.

We looked at NCL. Their drink package, that came with their Free at Sea, doesn't even cover a bottle of flat water.  I can't drink.  For me to have upgrade to get bottled water is insane. That is about all I drink on a cruise. Plus you paid the taxes on the value of those package, adding onto the perks.

That is not the ( main) reason we did not book with them. Our one cruise with NCL did not impress us (I am being kind.) This will be our first cruise with Royal.  I have high hopes.

  3. We just booked Monday so I missed snagging the "deal."  We don't cruise until next May so I am hoping for a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale.  I can't drink (alcohol) so we only need one Premium Drink Pkg and one Refreshment Package (plus the internet.)  I hope between now and then something comes up. If not.. oh well, it's vacation. 🍷

I just got the notice that we made Platinum in the Crown and Anchor Society! I know compared to others it is nothing and the platinum benefits aren't huge but we do not get to cruise very often so it feels like a big deal to me! Just wanted to share my excitement!

Congratulations !   This will be our first cruise on Royal but we are loyal Celebrity cruisers. Imagine my delight when I signed up for the Crown and Anchor and found out I was already Platinum. It's the small pleasures in life that make us smile.

In addition to the great information already given, it's worth noting that on my recent cruise, every member of the wait staff in each restaurant (mdr or otherwise) always asked about any food allergies before taking orders.

Great to know... thanks ! 😁

I have a life threatening food allergy onion.  I have found RCCL to be very accommodating.  There is a Special Needs Department that you have to contact.  Here's the link to the form:  https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/allaboutcruising/guestSpecialNeeds.do

Just like the other line, you'll get menus at dinner and will be able to pre-order.  Most dishes are made from scratch, so they can usually alter or make you a special version of almost anything.  Day 1's dinner will not go well.  No matter how many times I've tried, I always end up with plain, dry steak and dry lettuce passing for salad.  The kitchen just doesn't have time for my special BS on turnover day.  Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks.. it's about cross contamination in a lot of cases for him.  We will send that info to the special needs Dept.  He also is allergic to garlic and cinnamon (but not life threatening) loads of fun 🤨

Let the special needs dept know and I would also visit the Maite 'd when you get on the ship and let him know.  They will give you the menu the night before and pick what you want off the menu.  They seem to be very good at doing special diets.

Thanks.. will do 🙂 good to know.

  8. This is our first time on Royal. We are sailing in the Adventure of the Seas next May.  We have been sailed exclusively on Celebrity in their Aqua Class restaurant (Blu) for our last five sailings.  My DH has a significant seafood allergy and I am Gluten free. I can pretty much handle my issue myself.  But,  obviously he can't.  It was easy in Blu.  They knew us and gave him the menus in advance. I was curious if anyone has experience with this type of issue on Royal. Thanks in advance for any info !

Not sure about NCL, but in Royal I've heard that if one person in the cabin has extenuating circumstances like a medical or recovering they would let the one person have the package. Best of luck!

Thanks, I'll cross that bridge when we book.

See this video: (starts at 3:01 into it for breakfast stuff)

The waffles in the video are gluten free too

Now NightOne... you are just being cruel. I don't eat this well at home and have prided (wait is that a word ?)  myself on never gaining weight on a cruise.  Hopefully our friends will want to pull the trigger on the cruise and we will be booking this weekend.

Thanks ! That sounds great. I would be looking for a breakfast option. My breakfast every morning on Celebrity was always smoked salmon on a piece of GF bread.  MY BFF cruises NCL  every year and informed me the NCL has done away with salmon for breakfast.  No biggie, I get it at home every day. But the french toast sounds yummy.

They are excellent. Let’s the special needs department aware before your cruise, go to the MDR for lunch after embarking, the dietary manager will introduce himself, you can order dinner then if you want. Dd has celiac and would order dinner and breakfast the night before, just gave him a call when we left the cabin and told him where we were eating. Menus also indicate if a dish is gf, plus you can have them modify items. Everything ordered in advance is cooked in a separate kitchen.

You guys are awesome... thanks !!!

They do a very good job especially since you can bounce around from restaurant to restaurant on a nightly basis. The only area I would say is a bit weak is grab and go lunch options but you still have the MDR or O'Sheehans (The Local on newer ships) as an option.

I always order dinner the previous night but you do not have to on NCL.

    Thank you !

Thank you !  This is what I need to know. The hubby has a seafood allergy. If we book we'll do this for him too.  He also ordered his dinner in advance.

  15. We are considering booking on the NCL Encore to Bermuda next year.  We usually cruise Celebrity but they no longer have a seven day in May to Bermuda, which is what we are interested in.  I am Gluten free and Celebrity does a great job with their Gluten free options etc. Can anyone  offer opinions  on how NCL does on this ?

I can usually muddle through for one meal or so, but I'd rather not spend a week muddling.

Thanks in advance for any info !

Just add on another reason not to use a TA. They must lose money and a booking if they allowed it.

I use a TA.  I was able to participate in the Moveup program. MY TA is been nothing short of phenomenal.  He stayed on top of the price reduction/s etc. and I got a lower price than Celebrity quoted  initially.

Someone posted a picture of the shower in the revolutionized SUMMIT.  In Aqua class, previously, the showers were amazing with if I remember a total of 6 varied jets.  The picture looked like just a regular hand held shower - has anyone been on SUMMIT Aqua Class since revolutionized - does Aqua class still have those amazing showers with several jets???  Thanks for any information or a pic - I can't remember where I saw the pic or I would have posted it.

It does appears the lovely rain shower "perk" on the Summit Aqua Class went with the revolution.  I say boo to Celebrity for that. But they have installed a salt room in the Persian Gardens (not quite a fair trade) but I'm a glass half full kind of gal, so I'll take it.  It's vacation, so I try not to sweat the small stuff.
