If I  have paid for upgrade to premium drink pkg and my move up bid from Aqua to Suite is accepted, do I lose what I  paid to upgrade drinks?  I  am assuming that premium package is an auto perk for suites.

Thanks and if this has been fully answered already thanks for your patience.

I was led to believe the four suite perks are not given with the move-up. Only the suite itself (and whatever perk you already have.)  That makes this more interesting since we have paid for the premium beverage upgrade and the internet.  I guess I may be incorrect.

It is several years since we sailed Celebrity and we really loved Bistro on 5 for lunch, but now it is Sushi on 5 which really doesn't appeal. Is it just us?

It is NOT you. We loved loved loved Bistro on 5. It was our tradition to have lunch there on embarkation and most other sea days. It was a great place to sit and have lunch. My husband has a seafood allergy and would not be keen on the Sushi on 5 menu even if he didn't so it was a BIG loss for us.

  3. Thanks everyone for responding.  I guess it did not occur to me that people cancel at the last minute. Although, I of all people should, since I take "any reason to cancel" insurance for just that kind of "last minute" situation/ emergency.  Like I said, if we get it (doubtful) I be delighted to get a bathtub and the other fancy schmancy stuff. If not I'll be excited to try the new salt room in the Persian Gardens and continue to eat in Blu.  So whatever happens it's win win for us.

  4. I am totally confused. We received our second move up offer. We are AQ2.  (May 5th on the Summit.)  We love our cabin but decided we'd take a shot on a Sky Suite. BUT, when checking it does not appear any are available. Do they send out the offer with the "expectation" that someone may bail at the last minute ?  We won't be the least bit disappointed to stay where we are but I'm just curious.

We were on the Summit’s April 6th sailing and Arjan Scheepers, Hotel Director, told us then that he would be leaving in 6 weeks for vacation and then would go to his rotation on the Reflection. On that sailing, the officers included Captain Charis, Staff Captain Maria Gotor and Cruise Director Patrick Leynes

Thanks. Somewhere I heard Patrick Leynes  was gone. Very recently.  He was on our last two sailings.  We sail May 5th.

  6. I bought packing packing cubes for our last cruise. I bought some from amazon and some from ebags. They were both great. I took them out of the suitcases "as is" and placed them on the shelves etc.  I use a laundry bags for dirty clothes. So anything left over, just went back in the suitcases. It was easy peasy on so many levels.

  7. I buy  "cancel for any reason" insurance. I found by calling insure my trip dot come they explained all the differences in the policies and when you had to buy your insurance  to get the best rate etc. I learned that last year and did better this year. They were the most helpful. I did better on the phone than online.

SAVE one for funerals, weddings and bar mitzfah's.  consider Donating the rest to Career Gear.

LOL.. I already donated all the rest of my "regular" business duds to a similar organization.  I have a standard funeral outfit (sadly used too often these days,)  the weddings and Bar Mitzvahs I usually go to require outfits a little flashier than my Bangkok suits, neither of which I can seem to part with.  I have matching Charles Jourdan shoes that go with one of the suits, also purchased in Bangkok.  I went with an empty suitcase and came home with it full.

  9. I am gluten free and have sailed on the Summit, Aqua exclusively, for Blu.

They went out of their way to provide Gluten free items for me.

Like others have said the Buffet has quite a few gluten free options and desserts that

    were out of this world.

I can't imagine anyone else doing this better.

    Enjoy!

  10. I can't wait and will be following along. The Summit is our favorite ship. We will taking our fifth trip with her on May 5th.  It may very well be our last, with the new itinerary  :classic_sad: , but we'll decide later.

Thank you Jim for keeping this going !

  11. Eighteen years ago I had two custom tailored made suits made in Bangkok.  They were timeless and I wore them to every important meeting and work event until I retired three ago.  When I gave away all my "work attire" I did not have the heart to let them go. I swear they look as good as they day I bought them.

My business now requires, at the best,  jeans and sweatshirt but who know ??? They are waiting in the wings 🙂.

    ENJOY !!!!

  12. When I first saw the post I honest thought this was joke. Obviously not.  I have never used  lanyard and although I've thought I'd misplaced my sea-pass in my bag plenty of times, I've never lost it.  I have seen plenty of folks using them and never think one thing or another about it.

This year, I have a lanyard from my High School reunion, that is newly prized possession, so I figured I'd give wearing it with my sea-pass a whirl.

We'll see how long that lasts.

This may be easier to read.   I've tried them and maybe I was expecting something more like a Slushy drink but found them not to my taste.

Interesting, they offer everything that's "in" except celery juice, which I drink every morning.  I guess I'll have to find another concoction.

When we went to the buffet I discovered a game changer for me and dealing with with being gluten free. On the other lines I have sailed I would always have to get the attention of the chef and have them walk me around and show me what is safe. Not on Celebrity, they have most things on the buffet marked to tell me wether it is gluten free or not.

To some this may seem silly, but for some of us this is a big deal. It made me feel like a normal passenger. More on this later...

Thanks for taking us on this journey.  This in particular blows me away. I hope they roll this out fleet wide. I have been Gluten free for a while now and have no problem with Celebrity on the Summit, they have been fantastic. However, now I find myself having to be dairy and sugar free (fun right ?)  This would great if they have this on the "new and improved" Summit on our May sailing.

That was what one fed employee heard from her union so hoping the was correct....hopefully all the departments will follow suit.  Also hoping all the departments expedite payroll processing - I'm sure, left to themselves, they'll get things done quickly and efficiently.

In most cases each dept/agency does not do their own payroll (unless they are a huge agency, I presume)  the payroll is processed centrally (quite a bit by the National Finance  Center, in New Orleans.)   I shudder to think that they could go out again in three weeks.

The classic beverage package does include specialty coffees.

If you look at the description for both classic and premium packages they describe the coffee choices the same "premium coffees."  I only had the classic coffee package last year and I recall my only restriction was no booze coffee. I enjoyed all the other fancy coffee drinks all week on the Summit.

When this hits the airlines hard IMO, that will bring about the end to this mess. This country cannot economically go on without the commercial airlines operating. We can survive without cruising (perish the thought!) but not the airlines. The economic impact would be way more devastating than it is now and it would cripple the economy. Again, JMHO......

     Phil...........floridacruisers

It looks like you may  be right, as we wait for word.  Slowdowns in Philly and NY are just the beginning.  It looks there will be a three weeks CR.

Many are not furloughed but still not getting paid. Missing two paychecks (so far), a months pay, can be devastating in the present. Getting it paid back later can be too late for creditors. Many of those calling in sick are doing it to take another job. There are air delays at Newark, La Guardia and Philadelphia do to air traffic controller shortages.

Although it is expected the federal workers will get paid (historically they always have been) I have not seen a guarantee they will be paid. But, note this... all the back pay is lumped in with the next pay they receive (and taxes as such.)  They then subtract all the deductions  that have not been taken out.. medical, life insurance etc.   The outcome is pathetic. It will not make up for what was lost. Ask me how I know.  I was an essential employee in 1995 (three week) shutdown.  Oddly, my husband (at the time) was also essential employee.

I thank G-d every day that I am retired but pray for my former co-workers and other hard working feds. In my 35 years with the government I worked with mostly dedicated caring people that gave 125% to the job. Off my soap box.

  19. We cruised NCL once and decided it was not for us.  We found the ship to be crowded vs Celebrity.  It was also a very different demographic, that we did not enjoy as much as Celebrity . The thing that annoyed me just for GP was in the "regular restaurants"  the up-charge for certain items.  To me that's why you go to specialty restaurants.  Our best friends are loyal NCL  lovers (they love the casual dining aspect)  but they pay extra for the Haven and usually eat in the specialty restaurants.  However,  they just cancelled their July trip this year because they said the entertainment never seems to change.

I say each to their own :classic_biggrin:.

You can also use the earned credit card points to pay the balance on your cruise...presuming you haven't made final payment yet.

I'm almost 99% sure I used my points to "pay' my bill after i made my final payment last cruise and they then credited my BOA bill. It was great.  it took a bit of time but my bill was credited.
