  1. I only remember the 2 outlets by the desk on the Star (I was on the ship 2 weeks ago). If you need something to charge the various devices that require a USB charger: iphones, ipads, ipods, etc. this multi-port USB charger worked well for us - it's not a power strip and did not get confiscated. You can find it on Amazon.

    Anker 60W 6-Port USB Wall Charger, PowerPort 6 for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4, LG, Nexus, HTC and More

i was just coming here to tout the joys of my anker hub. i think i have a previous generation with only 5 ports, but same idea. then i just pack my cords for everything and everyone is happy and charged no fighting :)

i also have several of their portable batteries that are wonderful on trips and in port as you don't have to find and then be anchored to an outlet.

  2. point of clarification to all who said some variation of "they should use the money somewhere else"

as part of routine maintenance, the boat is repainted several times during its lifetime. the repainting of this logo is just a standard part of that. in no way would there magically be money available to do other things if they painted it white because there is still painting happening.

i'm also firmly in the not caring about the livery at all. been on ships with all kinds of livery, i'm cool with it all.

  3. this probably isnt a place to find a lot of sympathy as most will be avid cruisers. even my "bad" cruise was still a winner for me, and that had me down with a tropical storm(cant remember if it got full tropical storm or just below, but it was rough) triggered migraine seasickness for the first 2 days. i call cruising "vacation in a bag" because you go to sleep and ake up somewhere new everyday, you can do as much or as little planning for excursions as you like and still have a great time, good food, always things to do on board (ok maybe at 4am you might be limited in activities, but you could still find something)

your op doesn't really outline what you found upsetting about your cruise, that might help us.

  4. i'm local to my port for my next cruise. i plan on bringing some trader joes sparkling water because i enjoy the flavor and bubbly.

i do also partake of the water on ship. i don't enjoy the iced tea as much, it has a funny flavor. i might look into bringing some iced tea on board as well.

  5. key west has a lot going on. i used to live in florida, so we drove down, so i can't comment on distance from docks, but...

i recommend Mel Fisher museum, shipwreck treasures. http://www.melfisher.org/

the truman whitehouse is lovely. https://www.trumanlittlewhitehouse.com/

i haven't been to but my friends LOVED hemmingway house.

if you are like me and enjoy botanical gardens, the key west botanical garden is very nice. http://www.kwbgs.org/page.asp?p=visit

the Audubon house and gardens is quite lovely as well. http://audubonhouse.com/

and the noaa museum was small but enjoyable aquarium/science exhibits. http://floridakeys.noaa.gov/eco_discovery.html

  6. i bought a few decorations on my last trip that were pirate themed because my boyfriend's actual birthday was mid cruise. someone on the crew saw the decorations and sent a small plate of chocolates and strawberries to our room after dinner. unexpected and greatly appreciated. i only had a small banner outside. inside was a few more decorations i stuck up with magnets.

we generally end up walking every deck at least once and saw some other rooms that were way more decorated than ours. some with pictures of the family having fun. it was cute.

  7. oh bummer i missed that tt linked from the ship specific page to a generic spa page and my boat does not have a tpool.

i will say, on one of my cruises we went through a major storm that triggered migraines. the spa heated loungers and the tpool were life savers and helped me get back to being myself and enjoying the rest of the cruise. i totally recommend it if your boat has it. so relaxing.

  8. the elevator operator was insistent we go up to buffet floor and not our rooms, despite the announcement our rooms were ready.

so we walked down to our rooms dropped off our bags and went to mdr via stairs because the elevators were all reserved for embarkation.

  9. Actually AM....I was off the ship by 6:15, through CBP and through airport security by 6:45,

    that is spectacularly lucky.

it may be possible to make the first flight, but you should book the second flight. if you get to the airport early enough, you can see if the airline will let you take the earlier flight.

honestly, as someone who flys out of fll on the regular becuase i have family in town, i think it is unlikely you will have all water fowl and stars aligned to make the first flight.

only you can determine how much salt each response is worth on the internet.

  10. Don't do that with the TV/DVR if you have programs you want to record! I did that once and won't forget that again!

hahah true. i guess it depends on how long you are away. if it is a long cruise unplug, if it is a week or so then yeah don't lose your recordings :)

  11. i can also recommend sas. i had a mildly odd situation where i actually flew in a week early because i have family in palm beach and rented a car. so i wasn't flying in i was just returning a car. they got back to me immediately to confirm and explain where i would pick them up. we returned the car and the van happened to be right where we were from a drop off and picked us up early.

at disembarkation we had an issue where there w a thunderstorm and the mooring lines became loose so they stopped for about an hour. wasn't a problem for sas, they had a van waiting when we finally got off the ship.

also tbh, driving in miami is so annoying, and they changed up all of the exchanges and made some section of the road toll so i preferred letting the van drive us up to fll and then i rented a car to get back to family. driving in miami just sucks. i did look at renting a car at the budget office a few blocks away from port of miami, but it was so much more to rent there and return at a different location that it made more sense to van up to fll and rent from there.

  12. do the dishes, make sure garbage disposal is clear, take out trash.

check fridge for things that will expire.

if you have a washing machine, make sure you didn't leave a load in the wash wet.

i tend to unplug the powerstrips my electronics are plugged into: tv, dvr, wii, dvd.

  13. brick is the big part of most charging plugs.

the 2 pins will not work, you will need to get a travel accessory, either a plug converter or a transformer. it all depends on that brick and what it is set up to do.

    https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/world-electricity-guide.html

for instance, the "brick" part of my laptop cord can handle both types of power, i just need to change the cord formthe brick to the wall so i have the right prongs on the end, or use a plug converter. i don't need anything else special.

my curling iron on the other hand can only handle us voltage, so i need a transformer with plug converter to use when i go to the UK.

  14. my cruise in january on a different line had a thermal suit. the tile loungers are hard, but surprisingly not uncomfortable. you would put down a towel first. i usually had on my bathing suit and a robe barbecue i would have just jumped out of a pool and would be drying off. i did see some people use the tile beds in their clothing, but still you will put down a towel for a smidge of softness.

  15. being st the airport is one thing, getting bags checked, which i believe you have to have done at least 45 min-an hour before flight, an then through security are another thing. i've had some nightmare security experiences in fll.

if port is fll then 11 might be doable, but i would pass on the 9:45. if port is miami, then i would go after noon, because the ride from miami to fll while technically not far can be crazy in traffic.

and also keep in mind unexpected delays, my last miami cruise, disemarbkation was stopped for about an hour because the mooring lines had come loose and the gangway had to be retracted while the ship was remoored. which was problematic becuase there ws a thunderstorm happening. yay florida weather:)
