it never ceases to amaze me how a simple post can go from suggestions to super catty and condescending in 2 seconds.

i went to big lots and found an extension cord, it is meant for Christmas lights so it has a switch, but it is just an extension cord with 3 outlets on the end. perfect for cruising. now is totally the time of year all stores will have similar in stock gearing up for christmas.

if you are like me and don't travel with a laptop anymore but need to charge multiple phones and tablets, i recommend a usb charging hub like this

bring your normal charging cable and plug it into this and charge all of your devices.

never noticed, but i always input and pay for everything possible before sailing.

like any other american port i've been to, you have to have an idea of what you want to do, of which there are plenty of suggestions on this post already. long beach if a short taxi/lyft/uber away and tons to do there, if you wants to go up the coast, the getty , santa monica, venice. there is some great food near the airport as well.

same as the op minus the room upgrade, i already had a balcony guarantee, but this time they booked me in a specific room.

the only thing i'm bummed about is the excursion we were going to take in ensenada doesn't appear to be offered for this new cruise.

i was just offered a deal i couldn't refuse, but i was also sailing out of the town i live in, so no airfare to switch.

i personally enjoy 4 day cruises, but feel free to not enter, i don't mind better odds.

sara lee is tasty, but it would be weird to me to be served on board.

i suspect they want to use the forms provided at the port for consistency. everyone's printer is a little different.

is to goal to do away with guarantees? i mean obviously the goal is to eek out as much money from us as possible, but the secondary goal.

it seems like a bigger hassle than contacting a few passengers to see who bites. i also foresee really upset customers who don't understand the biding being super upset when they don't win.

i get my candied ginger at trader joe's. look in the section of your store with the dried fruits and nuts.

using cell data is stupidly expensive. if your phones can make calls over wifi, as many modern phones can, then turn of cellar data, turn on wifi, and then buy an internet package for your cruise. it may be somewhat as expensive as just using your phone, but because you pay for the wifi minutes with princess, it's a known value rather than any weird foreign charges.

i'm simply too lazy to try and sneak alcohol.

i got myself the drink package this cruise because i want to try things, and they don't have a everything non-alcoholic drink package or i would have done that. i expect most of my drinks will actually be premium non alcoholic ones like fancy coffees and perrier. i'm absolutely addicted to sparkling mineral water.

i LOVE drinking, but i also don't need to drink to have fun. that said i've been browsing the drink list here planning out my drinks. i can't wait to get a Caipirinha when i board.

i prepay. i don't have a good reason. i just get super particular about my vacations and like all of my water fowl in alignment and it is one pending thing i can do so i do it.

this time i should have waited because i ended up with a ton of obc, but at the time i only had a small bit of obc and was going to use it for my excursion.

i think it is quite rude to disparage someone's hobby because you don't like or understand it.

i don't see where princess specifically grants permission for receivers, but i've seen on other cruise lines where they say the equipment is ok as long as it doesn't interfere.

one thing to think about, what colors are in your clothing. my hair has blue and teal, and all of our pictures were weird because they green screen and couldn't correct for my hair, it turned white in spots. i believe outfits would have the same issue. just mentioning so if you plan on picture, you plan your outfits appropriately.

if you are coping and pasting username or password or using a password storing program, make sure you aren't including a space in either username or password.

i will never understand how what someone else is wearing is of any concern or can possibly ruin someone's dinner. it just isn't that important. why would you give someone else that much power over your happiness.

queen mary is pretty and art deco. if you haven't been, i do think it is a nice thing to do close to the port . you can walk all the way around the promenade, see some rooms, the bar, the infirmary. there are some nice restaurants. currently there is an exhibit of princess diana's dresses which is lovely.

i would add LAX has had a lot of construction in the area as well, so there are constantly changing street closures.

i've stumbled into activities, but i rarely schedule anything. i'm bringing books, knitting, colored pencils, i plan on relaxing and doing whatever feels fun at the time. i might go see a show, but i'm iffy about it.

i cruise for the disconnect. i can't work (i don't even bring my laptop).

i don't have to clean the dishes, or prep the food.

i find it sad that they had to mention multiple times that nothing was for sale. seems a bit morbid to want items from a tragic voyage. i guess if you had previously cruised it and had a good time, but even still that would be overshadowed by the legacy.

Were they amplified or not? :confused:

typo. they were both shouting at opposite ends of the room and i was in the middle of the room. the second amplified was supposed to be shouting.

i'm interested in that rekorderlig cider, is that only available in the gastropub an only if you pay the fee to enter even if you don't have food?
