1. I thought diapers in the pool was a violation of health regulations. Shouldn't someone on board be responsible for enforcing these regulations? And why call it an adult pool if no one is willing to enforce it?

As more families embrace cruising and more children are on board I would hope Princess would be diligent about keeping adult areas child free. Disney cruises are loaded with little people but I have never seen them in the adult areas.

We also board Saturday. Can't wait.

  2. I have never had a problem with Princess rebooking my fare. I booked through a Princess Vacation Planner and he rebooked me four times. Each time a new offer was posted I would call him and he would explain what I might gain and what i might lose if I rebooked. The last offer we gave up the free bottle of champagne but the fare went down $20 and we were given $100 in on board credit. As previous posters have said, call, you have nothing to lose by calling.

  3. My biggest concern would be behavior. As a Grandma I know that kids, even good kids, can get into trouble when not supervised. I would want to be sure if one of my grandchildren was given the freedom to roam about the ship she knew that she needs to be polite and respectfully of other people on the ship. Kids running wild throughout the ship can be dangerous for everyone. Unsupervised kids often do things they would never dream of doing with Mom in sight. Freedom comes with responsibility. Only you know if your child I'd able to handle that responsibility.

  4. We are booked on the CB in Feb and I noticed on deck 17 the sports deck there is a small pirate view pool area with a pool, hot tub and splash pool. Does anyone know if this is an adult area or is the splash pool for kids? We have only been on the Ruby once and I don't think I was ever on deck 17 so I know I never saw this area on Ruby. Thanks for your help.

  5.
There was a toddler in the mini suite next to us on our last cruise. We started every morning listening to screaming toddler. Heard screaming toddler every time we tried to enjoy balcony. Went to sleep every night to sound of screaming toddler. Too bad it was just me and hubby trying to enjoy relaxing getaway:( I can't imagine what the poor child got out of the trip. One of the reasons we chose Princess years ago was their policy of limiting number of children. I am a mother and grandmother and enjoy family time, but would suggest Disney, Carnival, or RCL are more kid friendly.

I agree that babies are the same if not MORE work for cruise staff and gratuities should be paid accordingly.
I wondered what happens in a case like yours. Did they move you to another cabin? I'm a grandmother and love little ones. I love to watch them laugh and enjoy their surroundings buy if I pay several thousand dollars to take a cruise I would be very upset if I was next door to a crying baby both day and night. That would not be fun.
  6. I would be interested in learning about the mini's as well. We are looking at a foward mini on the Caribbean Princess. Has anyone out there stayed in a forward mini? Is there a lot of motion? Never stayed in a mini but the price was so good we wanted to try one. Any information would be welcome. Thanks to all who take the time to help.

  7. After reading many posts here on CC it seems as though Princess has many "policies" but does not do a good job of enforcing them. I guess they are trying not to offend anyone. I taught school for 30 years and I know most kids will test the limits but once they know the limits are enforced most will accept the rules and obey them. The same applies to adults. They might complain at first, a few might change cruise lines but the majority will accept that there are policies and follow them. Princess is like the parent that makes threats and never follows through. People quickly learn that the policies are on paper only and then do whatever they want. It is really simple. As long as Princess is unwilling to enforce its policies customers will continue not to follow them.

  8. We cruised last Feb on the Ruby Princess with our good friend who is a vegan. The head waiter could not have been nicer. Each night he would show him the next day's menu and make adjustments. In addition he would bring additional dishes the chef prepared for him, often so much of it that we all got to taste it. We had no complaints about the head waiter. He took good care of both the vegan and my husband who has multiple food issues and allergies.

  9. Does anyone know the difference between the size of a Caprie balcony vs the mini suite balcony on the Caribbean Princess? The price has dropped so that the price I was going to pay for the Caprie balcony is only a couple of dollars less than the Mini suite. I've never been in a mini so I don't really know the difference in the size of the rooms and the size of the balconies. Thanks.

  10. Love kids, was a teacher for 30 years. Well behaved kids are not a problem. But sometimes my definition of well behaved and the parents definition are vastly different. For instance sometimes when we are dancing children are running around the dance floor bumping into dancers and the parents attitude is "I paid for this cruise, my kids have the right to use the dance floor". That kind of ruins it for people who love to dance.

One of the reasons I love cruising Disney is that the adult areas are strictly adult and there are no little ones running around the dance floor. The adult pool is again adult. Children are not permitted there and there are a couple of adult only restaurants. If I stick to adult areas I actually interact with fewer kids on a Disney ship than on any other line.

  11. I was so glad to read your positive review. Our cruise is a long way off, February, and it is only our second on Princess. We loved the Ruby but we are limited to 5 days and only the Caribbean Princess is doing 5 days next February. The negative reviews had me worried. Your review was so positive I am no longer worried. Now I can't wait to go and experience her for myself.

  12. Princess might not be a good fit for you. That is the wonderful thing about cruising, there are lots of choices. We love Princess for all the reasons you didn't. We have tried several different cruise lines and I found that they provide different experiences. I loved RCL because it was active, love Princess because it is quiet and Disney because, well it's Disney. Maybe right now another line suits you better and sometime in the future your taste will change and you might like Princess.
