  1. Carnival was quick to boast they were the first cruise line since the pandemic to have all ships in service and sailing at full capacity. They neglected to mention crew was at 50%! We've been on 4 cruises since January and the crew shortages created a lot of issues and frustration for passengers. Our last cruise in April on the Dream when we checked in for Anytime dining it was over an hour before a table was available, whereas it used to be 10 minutes or less. I think Carnival jumped the gun on that one.
  2. My husband and I really like the Mongolian Wok. It was especially enjoyable on the Vista because they had JiJi's so at lunch we could sit down and order. Ships without JiJi's we just made sure to be there when they first opened to avoid the long lines. Earlier in this post someone suggested doing away with Bonsai Sushi and replacing it with Mongolian Wok. That's an excellent idea - I don't know how crowded it is in the evening but I rarely see anyone there at lunch, if they are even open then.
  3. I've always wondered, does any other cruise line besides Carnival go to Freeport?
  4. I used to worry about wearing the same clothes several days in a row, what people would think! Then I realized I can't even remember what I wore the day before so why would anyone else? Cut way down on packing, that and reaching Platinum and having the free laundry!
  5. Neither one denies vaccinations for its members.
  6. None of the "major" religions have any restrictions against being vaccinated. I don't think Carnival would come right out and say no religious exemptions but I doubt they give any.
  7. I wish I had brought my own soft drinks - on an 8 day cruise last month they ran out of Pepsi on the third day! I prefer Coke anyway but now it's just Pepsi. I used to roll my eyes when I'd see people carry 12 packs onto the ship but now I may be one of those people.
  8. I'm so happy to finally know this after getting so frustrated trying to check in online and having the server constantly go down. And I would start at 7 a.m.!
  9. Every ship I've been on has the hair dryer in the drawer, that no one ever uses. Don't know why they don't remove them, I could use that drawer space!
  10. On the Dream last month the shells were not available. My husband wasn't too happy about it but managed to eat his out of a bowl. I'm not happy to hear the Deli won't open until 2:30 - that was my go-to for lunch!
  11. Thanks, that helped me find more information about it.
  12. Thanks! Very interesting. We figured it was some type of transport boat with the ramp-looking front. Found more info on it, it was completing fleet experimentation events in Key West April 22-27. It was April 23 when I took this picture.
  13. Last month on the Dream we were docked in Key West. On the Lido deck we saw this boat out the window, and wondered what it was. A lot of people were looking at it but no one knew what it was. Not the best photo, but does anyone know what it is?
  14. Wish I'd had your attitude last month on my cruise on the Dream. Nothing major but so many things went wrong I swore I'd never cruise again, and cancel my cruises in September and November on the Dream! After calming down - as my 3 year old grandson told me, Grammy, be calm. Breathe. - I realized I hadn't followed the number one rule of cruising - go with the flow. Didn't cancel the two cruises this fall, and booked two more for 2023. On the Dream.
  15. Does anyone have more details about the repairs to Vista's propulsion issue? Anyone have their cruise on Vista cancelled?
  16. Yes, it's a guarantee balcony. I was hoping it stood for "Balcony Large"!
  17. Just booked a cruise for next year. On the confirmation for type of cabin it says BL Balcony. Does anyone know what type of balcony this is?
  18. Before the shutdown, yes. After, no. Ultra cruise before shutdown was great, good gifts, special drawings in the casino, special party. One after shutdown was total crap. "Gifts" in cabin were things like ball caps with "Premier" on them, other Premier branded cheap stuff, guess they were cleaning out the warehouse. Big prize giveaway depended on which card you drew, guess we got bottom of the barrel. Choice was a Dyson fan or $300 casino cash. What????? Maybe they've improved since them, wait to hear from someone who has been on one recently.
  19. Don't expect anything. Our first B2B in February we were excited to hear from other people on this site that they got mimosas on the return to ship, champagne and fruit basket in their cabin. We got nothing. I've since earned that it depends on the ship you're on, it's up to the Hotel Director on the ship to decide the perks. We were on the Breeze. Hope your experience is different than mine!
  20. When did this start? I had a B2B in February, didn't have this!
  21. All of the special things we got used to before the shutdown will probably never be reinstated no matter if the staffing shortage is overcome. I agree with you on reducing capacity to match the number of crew. The three times I cruised before ships went back to full capacity there were no problems, the four since did have problems. Carnival's PR ploy of announcing being the first line to get back to full operations has come back to bite them in the "aft" -
  22. Do any other cruise lines go to Freeport?
