    Forward Cabins

Although Serenity rides the waves pretty well, we try to avoid all rooms located forward of the forward stairs. There’s a reason those rooms are priced lower. We did it once. Never again. Rob
  2. For those that stay up for pizza at 11pm, they’re still serving salmon pizza on formal nights. No one eats the salmon pizza. Seafood has no business on a pizza. Ever. Especially as midnight bar snacks. Hopefully they used up all the salmon bits last night. Lol 🤣😆🥴
  3. Sandbar closed today. As it appears all the vehicle rental venues.
  4. The median pax age on this cruise skews rather elderly. Many pax seem to wear “comfy” shoes, not necessarily as a fashion statement, but as a medical necessity.
  5. Unfortunately, it’s Sunday and most venues are closed today.
  6. On the beach. We’re the only ship in port today. It’s very nice. Rob
  7. Formal night observations: perhaps 10-15% +/- gentlemen wearing tuxes. The vast majority, including us, wearing dark suits. The ladies were all elegantly attired. From full-on sparkly gowns, pantsuits, cocktail dresses and everything in between. Impression: virtually everyone last night respected the formal dress. It was nice to see everyone wearing their best. Rob
  8. Arrived Grand Turk. A couple of views from deck 11. Rob
  9. Today’s Reflections and dinner menu. Rob 364E35D2-DE62-4F6C-8CB0-AB137335D1E4 2.pdf 3747ED44-173E-4F2E-8788-FB3139D42DBD 3.pdf
  10. Oh my. You’re on the early shift, we’re on the late shift. We closed down the Avenue with Mark Farris around 12:30a. Now on our second set of double expresso’s in the Bistro. Two lectures this morning, another this afternoon. Caviar, oysters and lobster on the menu tonight. 😁😁👍🏻 Rob
  11. Cruise ship parking lot in Miami today. We Uber’d from hotel at 11am. Were onboard by 11:45a and lunched in waterside at noon. Seamless. Met Mark Farris on the pier and towed him onboard with us. He’s only on this cruise till we return to Miami in 2 weeks.
  12. Arrived South Beach. Overcast, windy, 60’s temps. But we’re here. And the luggage made it. And MIA was not an overcrowded zoo (at least the inbound and luggage claim). Lines were very long for TSA departing passengers. To all traveling tomorrow, safe travels. See you onboard. Rob & Jim (To gmarch…I’m not going to hijack your thread, but if you’re okay with me supplementing your observations, I’d like to continue to post here, rather than start a new, concurrent thread. Up to you…it’s your initial post. Thanks!)
  13. In HOU right now enroute to MIA. See y’all on Friday. 🛳️🛳️🚢🚢 Rob & Jim
  14. Or, if you don’t need a locker, just bypass the spa desk and go directly to the changing room. There are bins of towels, water bottles and plenty of common area hooks to hang your street or gym clothes without the need to obtain a locker.
  15. Symphony similar, but a bit smaller in size due to it being a smaller ship. Same separate facilities (but no window in the sauna).
  16. Separate men's & women's changing rooms, showers, steam & saunas. No additional fees. Open 8am-9:30pm every day. The saunas on Serenity have a huge window facing the ocean.
  17. For a quick history of this property...it opened in 1937 as the Park Central Hotel. My grandparents used to spend their winters at the Park Central in the 1960's. They would take the Florida Special from Penn Station in NYC to Miami while either my dad or my uncle would drive their car from NYC down to Miami Beach. (Grandma didn't like the 2-3 day car trip, but the overnight train trip was okay!) Sometime in the Spring they'd all do the trip in reverse back up to NYC. While rummaging through some old boxes of pics, I found some old B&W pics of that hotel from the 1960's. It was a pretty basic property by then, certainly not the luxury of the Fontainebleau or Eden Roc. The hotel went through several renovations and subsequent owners during past 50+ years. I hope you enjoy the history of the property and your stay next month! Rob
  18. We sailed from Terminal E on 12/2/23. It's certainly a larger terminal, check-in counters, waiting area and luggage drop off area than Terminal J. It was heavily "Carnival Cruises" branded on the inside though... Rob
  19. Bon voyage to another wonderful journey. 🙂🚢🛳️🌎 Rob & Jim
  20. Well, some of those showmen are short...love autocorrect! I wouldn't remove fuel-smelling luggage, either! 😁🤣😆
