  1. My guess is that is for CA residents only as I often see special pricing for FL residents as it is for cruises from FLL. Just checked on Princess site from here and they show nothing for CA coastal and I didn't even log in but know they know where I am...

I guess you could contact TA while onboard or book onboard and the transfer to TA. If you transfer to TA, can the TA then discount the fare?

I have with no problem. Often when I see something over a weekend..

  3. We've sailed on the Coral 3 times which (I hope) indicates that we are quite fond of this ship. Two cruises to Alaska and the last one around the horn of South America which included Antarctica. We loved the feel of the ship; the multiple viewing areas forward and the size which was comfortable but not cramped. I like some of the options on the newer ships but always have a fondness for this older baby. Will cruise on her again, given the chance..enjoy!

What about shoes/boots?    I have low top hiking boots, but not sure those are really the best for keeping my feet warm while standing on deck viewing the scenery.

I don't remember my footwear but expect that I wore my hiking boots and thermal socks. Sometimes I fly out of Florida with heavy hiking boots which can look a bit strange but they take up too much room to pack. Sometimes we would sneak inside for a few minutes to warm up but the thrill of seeing all of the sites in Antarctica kept us going. Great experience!

  5. Layers are your best bet as you can peel off a layer if it gets too warm while out on deck. We had long underwear, layered a warm thermal top, (I had) a thin down vest, thin ski jacket or wind breaker when it wasn't too cold. I often wore a ski hat and my ear muffs and glove liners as well as gloves/mittens. I never was overwhelming cold and if the open deck was too much (cold winds), we would simply hang out on our balcony. I always had my tripod set up there to get great shots. You will love it!

  6. No interest and pray that I'm never on a cruise where that kind of stuff is taking place and taking over the ship. So unfair to paying customers. This is getting too commercial for me and if that is the direction that PCL is taking it may be time to move on after completion of our booked cruises...

The statement "Only shareholder obc can be used before the cruise" meant other types of OBC could not be used. (Refuted in other posts)

It did not mean credit cards, gift cards, etc. could not be used/

Understood. To be clear, I was indicating that I was able to use OBC gifted by my TA which is NOT shareholder OBC to purchase an excursion well before my cruise date...

Big ships full of families with lots (and lots) of little kids but without the "party drunks" problem.

So, how do they make the money off of the kids that they make from us old farts? Especially springing for the new "Plus" programs ~ drink until you're crazy?? Princess needs the old people's money and gain nothing from a bunch of kids who are in the rooms at a reduced price and aren't buying the upgraded packages...

  9. Carolyn,

Thinking of you. That storm was supposed to be a direct hit here in Tampa Bay area (St Pete/Tampa) and we got lucky. No real damage here but just got power back after 27 hours and can't imagine what it will be like for you. Thankfully, here in St Pete, it was a cool, cloud-covered day and wish you the same as the heat here is brutal. Wishing you well. Reach out if there is anything I can possibly do.

  10. I can understand that cruises may have been canceled from the port of Tampa as this area was the target for a direct hit originally. We dodged a bullet but with high winds our airport was closed for 2+ days and will re-open tomorrow making it tough to get into the area. That being said, FLL was never in the "bulls-eye" and can't imagine why they would have canceled. This was a West Coast event except for departure of the storm.
