  1. My checkin is Thursday, I guess I get to see what I have t provide them with. Also hoping I find out my GTY cabin - might affect if I want to raise my Royalup bids or bit on other cabin types. Curious if Royal and arrivecan will behave with my vaxpass app. Though I haven’t even uploaded my booster to mine as it wasn’t needed, just the two shots for restaurants, bars, gyms (not needed anymore), and planes (still needed)
  2. We did 4 in a cabin on Carnival 4 times, but last time we did inside for the first time and kids were 15 and 18. Quite a bit squishy. I was always worried about 4 to a room on Royal as they seem to have some weird setups for 4 on some of their ships. And with GTY you don’t know which layout you are getting. Not sure what worst case scenario is for your category.
  3. I’m Canadian and I was at the gym in a Vegas hotel. The TV was on and I found the news jarring and like it was coming completely from another universe. I was staring at it, like what is that and how can they say things with no basis in reality. Apparently it was Fox News and I was supposed to find the remote and put a child lock on the channel (just kidding) .
  4. Sitka dock - I read on another report that I think the royal ship to dock in the morning to allow people off but said you had to be back by 1:50 to walk back on board as they had to switch to tendering when the other ship arrived. So I guess it depends on the times the others are supposed to dock. my time dining wasn’t available when we booked so based on the port schedule I went for late dining.
  5. I didn’t hear of huge outbreak just that there were 75 guests quarantined and that some cabin stewards disappeared (had COVID) and that many more people tested positive trying to fly home or after they arrive home. This was talked about in various fb groups and on an RCI forum.
  6. Hubby and I had boosters before Christmas and kids slightly thereafter. Our province had strict protocols and over 90% vaccinated including 5-11 year olds. Due to supply and intervals between doses most were hitting 20 weeks post 2nd dose when omicron hit, so they lowered that to 20 weeks, so it was a mass rush to boost as many people as possible. I wasn’t going to worry about a 2nd booster until the fall, figured cases would drop right off for summer. But now wondering if I should get it if offered/eligible. Not sure if 50+ are eligible yet. The reports from last serenade are scary.
  7. How can you check you bids - the only way I found was to go into my confirmation email and click to edit or delete one of the bids and then the others show as pending but it wants you to edit or delete the one you clicked on. i am booked for GTY ocean view room in July on the Serenade It’s a pretty booked cruise though some rooms have opened up since the royalup email so not sure if bids have been accepted or more cabins have been added as they increase capacity. I put in minimum bids for all the balcony and above cabins other that owners suite. I didn’t put bids in for spacious ocean view or ultra spacious ocean view, not sure if I should. I wish I knew what I was getting for my GTY.
  8. That comment was in response to replies from others about taking the train.
  9. Canada doesn’t have Covid police, or any quarantine hotels or anything, but if you test positive pease isolate and if you want to get back home, rent a car, don’t board a bus or train and expose others.
  10. It happened to many Canadians who went to Florida over the Christmas break. They had to wait until 10 days after a positive per test and pay for all their own accommodations and food and new plane tickets, so quite expensive. Edited to say, you can probably stay at pan pacific, maybe they’ll give you an extended stay rate.
  11. My daughter’s convocation is at the end of the month. It is indoors, they do different faculties at different days/times. Not sure if my husband will wear a tie. He may wear a jacket but not a suit. Not sure what I’m wearing, depends on what season we get that day.
  12. Fairly certain that being vaccine hesitant would be enough to qualify for J&J. That’s mostly why it ended up coming here - folks saying they would only get one shot. I’m sure if OPs friends wanted to, they could connected with thar vaccine.
  13. Princess does have the information listed on their website. Problem is they mention that Canada has a process for medical exceptions. We do but first it’s very stringent - for example you had a serious allergic reaction to your first dose of the vaccine such that you have been advised not to get the 2nd. Secondly - if you received a medical exception, you still have to follow a lot of regulations including limiting contact with others. So not really useful for cruising. Canada’s border was closed for well over a year. It was opened to fully vaccinated and tested travellers last summer. Unvaccinated Americans have never been allowed in Canada since the start of covid. Canada is just allowing cruising now and they have a lot of regulations, including that all passengers be vaccinated and tested. Princess did drop the ball here giving an exception that they shouldn’t have. But really your friends should have check out the requirements of travelling to a foreign country.
  14. We are cruising in July and in Juneau Wed July 27 from 12-8pm. I was just going to DIY Mendenhall Glacier but now thinking this may be a good port to do a whale watching excursion. Other ports are Ketchikan and Stika. Is late July a good time for this tour? Problem is I think some times and options may be booked. Juneau Whale Watch has a combo tour with a Glacier visit but only list 2:30 and 3:30pm start times. I don't know if this will leave us any time at the Glacier (they do list 1:30pm whale watch only tour. Harv and Marv only do a stop at a bridge overlooking the Glacier but I think the boat tour is longer and they have space at 2pm. I'm not sure about space on Jayleen's but that is whale watch only. Alaska tales has more space but does a 45min stop at the Glacier en route to the boat tour (and I haven't read much about them on here). There are a few option with Royal Caribbean - but they are $, I think they are Gastineau but the rates I see are even more than when I link from their site to the Royal webpage. Looking for opinions of timing, tours, companies etc. And if I do end up having to book a 2pm or 2:30pm tour what would you do beforehand? Thanks
  15. We will be in Juneau from 12-8pm in late July. I understand you can get a city bus to within walking distance of Mendenhall glacier. I read a trip report of someone doing West Glacier Trail which sounded quite interesting to me but I am not sure hubby would be comfortable doing it (we are both fit). We are looking at suggestions and information on what to do. We are comfortable taking public transit, if we have the info. I would consider an excursion if there was something of interest but hubby has ruled out any helicopters.
