  1. from our TA this afternoon: I went to a presentation yesterday with Oceania and they advised that they are hoping to open the books for the Allura in late August and the remainder of 2025 towards the end of September.

  3. Hotel Golden will arrange for a car/driver. Just make your request when you make the hotel reservation; there should be a place to check the option. Or, just email them. They will take good care of you.
  4. We always stay at Hotel Golden. This is a small family-run hotel that will arrange transport to and from the cruise port. You will pay for this but the price is reasonable.
  5. Thank you. What I recall is getting a confirmation number so I was assured of the itineraries even before ticketing. I was able to see the flights but not select seats. I could be wrong; my brain has aged.
  6. We have what we consider to be a very good deal on flights using the custom air request. Deviation fee but no additional cost. Oceania advised that they will only ticket the air once the reservation is paid in full. Final payment is later this month. Is this usual? We want to select our seats now.
  7. Be sure to look at the location of the cabins available and your itinerary. Are you expecting rough seas?
  8. We have been on 2 or 3 waitlists for pre and post cruise tours and in each case we cleared the waitlist quickly. There is a very good chance that Oceania will add more space.

  10. Some clarification here. If you request a specific air itinerary the deviation fee would apply even if you add a night or 2 or 3 at Oceania's hotel.
  11. I think that if you select a pre/post hotel with Oceania that there is no deviation fee of $175. You get "padding" on the arrival in case of flight problems and transfers. This could justify the inflated cost of the hotel. Am I right?

  14. I'll see if we have a pic or 2. Everything is on a cloud and DH is working feverishly to catch up on all his work assignments after being away. The Zoot Suit is off to the cleaners now.
  15. Back from our cruise. The Zoot Suit with hat was a great hit! DH got many compliments.
  16. We'll be on the Whisper. The Jim Carey pic is close but the suit is a subtle black stripe with matching vest (more buttons and longer than a waistcoat) with red/black handkerchief and tie. Black hat - no feather. Elegant and eye-catching for sure. Sounds like the vest won't be enough unless the crew is French and speaks fashion ~~~~~~~~
  17. Oh, the vest is part of the zoot suit so will be along anyway. He's hoping said vest would work for after dinner in the public spaces, too.
  18. He'll wear his spats, too! The outfit was a must swing dancing at the Avalon Ballroom on Catalina Island.
  19. On informal nights, would it be OK for a man to wear a suit vest as a jacket? The word “vest” was originally a French term “veste,” meaning either jacket or sport coat. My husband is packing a zoot suit for formal nights and separating the slacks or coat to wear separately does not work. He REALLY wants to wear his zoot suit, and prefers not to bring another jacket. Thoughts?
  20. Pretty sure O has not changes bed sizes. Sadly, the fact that one cannot have 2 beds in a suite means we will never book a suite. We will happily settle for a verandah cabin
  21. Before the cruise, yes, I always use our TA. But we have our air booked via SS and it seems to me that when problems arise with flights that SS should take the lead in resolving the situation. I do not expect any TA to stay vigilant 24/7 especially concerning return flights when changes or cancelations can arise at any time. Still of issue is that SS sent this message to our 'alternate' email address.

  23. We booked a cruise yesterday and the deposit was $500 pp. However, they increased from 120 days to 180 days when their administrative fee of $500 for any cancellations goes into effect.
  24. We just found out the SS is not offering any air on our cruise from Brisbane to Singapore, so we're on our own. We really want the safety net that comes with SS booking the fights. Business Class air is showing at ~ $8300 pp. Sadly, we're really considering canceling the cruise that we booked over a year ago.
