yeah, it was great back in the day, huh?  book your own cruise, monitor fare drops, use the princess resources to get the discounted fares, change cabins, etc ... then swoop - transfer the booking to the TA who does nothing but give you the great benefits that Princess gives them, that you can't get when booking with Princess directly.

Completely agree server's taking cabin numbers creates misapplied drinks  but faster service.

wow - 17 days and already seeking move overs ... ours have been 6 days - took, then sailed the week following... and the next time was the next day notice - couldn't make it work

and back in the day, I checked the folio the last night - and between then and the time the folio was slipped under the door - a $45 or so charge from a bar was added - nope, not mine.

my disembarkation morning was at customer service...

Princess didn't do anything wrong in this instance though.  Another passenger went to the cabin before they were supposed to and left their belongings as the door was propped open.  Sounds like Princess has handled it well and cleared out the stuff and will replace the mini bar.

 

One example of why they say to not go to your stateroom early until they are ready.

was 'they' ... me? - if so, it was the not everyone in the cabin has to buy the package which only includes the beverages - no crew (which is charged to folio, but can be removed) or wifi

My issue is Princess marketing this as some huge game changer for the local market that is a true innovation.  That's how this was touted and it falls far short of that. 

 

@voljeep what say you?  Is this something you would do?

Our house to Southport Raw Bar - 4 hours driving with an hour buffer for 'pit stops' - leave at 6 am, having a beer at 11 am - then check in, if possible, at Hilton Marina for our pre-cruise night stay.

Our house to OIA - about an hour depending on Brightline schedule - 3 hour trip with the 2 stops, then shuttle to ??? - ship if same day, or uber to Hilton/Southport if going down the day before - which we would, then have to uber anywhere we went, which wouldn't be much.  So, we really wouldn't save the one-night stay.

For us, not economical ... and we also don't travel light either ... if it fits in the car ...

for Port Canaveral - day of drive, easy hour - pay to park at port or at Brightline. Our house to Brightline to PCanaveral - I'd guess close to 3 hours - so that's a definite no go

The drink portion of Plus is about $20 a day. 16 + 25 + 20 = $61. So the same cost as Princess Plus!  How about only $10 more for the drinks? That's still around $50 pp / day. And it wouldn't include free room service, free Medalion shipping, free OceanNow, 2 fitness classes, 2 casual dining, etc. that you get with Plus. Would that make sense for you? It seems a bit expensive to me.

 

I think the packages are great and have Princess Plus myself even though dh and I aren't big drinkers. But they just don't add up for some people. 20-25% of the people, it appears according to Princess' numbers.

 

I don't think it would be useful for that. Can you drink $76+ worth of drinks in a day? That's a lot.

noone is buying wifi at $175 for a 7 day cruise - way overpriced to fluff the package.

Our package evaluation has wifi at zero value for us ... so we really gotsta up that drinkin', huh?
