A lot of the storage I didn't notice until the end of the cruise. The was also a large closet which opened on both sides so two people can get ready at once. Outside of the bathroom there was a vanity table. On the table was a very good mirror (it showed more than I needed to see). The dryer was excellent. There were plenty of electrical sockets thru the room. The bathroom had a very deep shower/tub. The toilet was in a separate compartment in the bathroom. If u are in a suite you get upgraded bath products.

Shampoo, conditioner, loofah, shower cap, lotion, shower gel and wonderful bar soap. The towels are huge and soft.

We had a desk and a decent sized table with 4 chairs.

Behind the wonderful room darkening shades was a 208 square foot balcony with 2 lounge chairs, 2 chairs, end table and a large trunk. Plenty of room.

A lot of niceties including 2 safes, a complimentary water and sparkling wine.

Reluctantly I got off the ship on Saturday. This is the 2nd time that my friend and I have been on the Gem. Last time was almost 4 years ago with a group of 16 in the Mediterranean. I was looking for a relaxing cruise this time with no agenda. This cruise met every promise.

We upgraded to a forward penthouse suite # 10502. Normally I either book a OV or balcony. What a cabin. My friend said that we never had to watch the "front of the ship show" because we only had to stand on our balcony to see it for real.

We had a huge bed and a comfortable couch that our wonderful steward Roberto Flores would make up for me each evening. We had tons of storage

Honey is available pretty much everywhere but you might have to ask for it.

This just in from NCL Corporate.......

 

By January 1, 2015, all food will be eliminated fleetwide. Each passenger will receive 1 nutritional tablet for each meal and will have the option to purchase 1 extra per day.

 

Just thought you should know before hand in case you wanted to cancel your cruise.

 

This has been brought about by the numerous complaints regarding the food on all Norwegian Cruise Line Ships.

I did a search and couldn't find anything recent. I was on the Gem 3+ years ago. It was a very port intensive cruise. This time I really want to enjoy the ship so please share

Is there a list for in suite treats? As someone else mentioned, "I am giddy with excitement" to be in a suite!

Three and a half years ago I sailed on the Spirit. The concierge was a wonderful young woman from Germany named Sylvia. She had short very blonde hair. Does anyone know if she is still with NCL? She was truly a gem.

I know people of Indian decent who are vegetarians for religious reasons. They say causing is wonderful for their extended families because they don't have to stress about dining. They have told me that they are very appreciative that the cruise lines do this.

Bummer for the rough weather. I will be on the Gem for the second time this May. Tell us about the good parts please. Do not waste your Platinum Status.

Oatmeal raisin cookies on the Spirit. We would find them sometimes in the buffet a d sometimes on a tray in the Blue Lagoon. They were perfect.

I usually bring a Tevis and fill it using their cups.

How mu h is the DEC in a suite. I thought that it was the same and that you tip the butler and concierge separately..

The pictures I've seen of the pizza look fantastic! Order before midnight or it's $8.95. It's my understanding that this isn't just "room service", but that you can have the pizza delivered anywhere - like lounging by the pool, etc. Is this true?[/

 

$3.95 is NOT charged after midnight for pizza delivery. It states that on the room service menu therefore it is only $5.00 no matter what time you order pizza or where you have it delivered.

On Gem last May, we felt desserts were much better than a few years ago. It was our fourth NCL cruise. We liked it so much booked same for this May.

We always find something. I heard that the Blue Lagoon has some good one. I am on the Gem for the 2nd time on 5/31. How about you?

I can't wait for more. I love the Spirit and your style.

Wow, Thank you everyone. The only movies I ever watch are with my grandchildren. I thought that it would be fun to watch a chick flick. I don't even watch tv at home so a movie would be a treat. Thanks again.

I tried to find the answer out using the search tool but I didn't find an answer. I will be on the Gem in a Penthouse suite. It has a Dvd player. Do they have dvds to borrow or should I bring some? Thanks for your help.
