  1. I get myself in trouble every time i say it should be so easy to.... Any, shouldn't it be easy for the reservation software to have a checkbox/tickbox for "allow cabin upgrades/switches" yes-no?
  2. "All services that have been purchased and / or prepaid before the Winning Bid event for an upgrade in "Aurea" or "Yacht Club" experience will not be refunded if the same service, of the same or higher quality, is included in the new experience resulting from the Winning Bid. " //a bit of a gut punch if you already bought a booze package if i understand correctly.
  3. Drinking, eating and staying active constantly during the cruise can really increase a person's tolerances. Years ago before all these drink packages it was common to see a couple the final morning at guest services yelling my SO gets drunk on a glass of wine and two has them almost asleep so the huge bill can't be correct.
  4. You mentioned a 8pm leaving time. Let's say the call is for 7:30pm. The ship doesn't close the gangway at 7:31. The ship won't leave until 8:01 or later. I'm just saying if you can get to the port a few minutes past 8 cross your fingers. Once the ship has decided it is going to leave the game is over. It will leave while passengers are running down the dock screaming for the ship 100 yards from the gangway. Arriving on time is polite for everyone but if things went sideways during the day still try to get to the ship if not very late.
  5. Oh boy. I was on a cruise out of Miami and the cruise line reversed the route after sailing back towards florida to airlift a passenger off a few hours after we sailed. Many passengers did the group lobby screaming their excursions are screwed up dramas. Nevermind it seems you don't have any port days left.
  6. ok. I said it wrong. Choosing whatever cabin they offer with 2 pp is $349 each. Choosing whatever cabin they offer as a solo is $1149. I never said it was guarantee. it isn't It is cheaper to book a 2pp when a solo passenger
  7. march 4-11 millennium Maybe so the bean counters and stock market watchers will see higher passenger numbers?
  8. whoopsie. I meant the seascape on the 30th. Brainfart.
  9. There has been price changes just in the last few minutes. Prices went up on the website. Gone is the $326 Seaside cruise i was trying to book. It is now $399.
  10. No cruises after May 2023 are shown on the website. Prices for cruises don't match on the website and what agents have. I tried to book a cruise solo with 2 msc agents on the phone and the price of a solo past passenger was way off. All the 7 day cruises out of florida start at over $750 now not including fees solo when you talk to a agent while the website says they start in the low $300's. Something is screwy.
  11. https://www.msccruisesusa.com/ works fine for me. Were you already on the site and navigating around? If so i'm guessing you stumbled into something like drinking packages and prices for other territories or the currency used changed. Or old dead pages.
  12. about baking onboard from earlier post https://www.businessinsider.com/why-it-costs-1-million-per-day-run-cruise-ship-2022-12 Start at 2:00 for a few seconds bags of Shafer brand flour behind worker and so is the mixer as he works the form maker.
  13. MSC sailing out of usa gets ESPN international Carribean, ESPN2 international , and maybe ESPN international 'regular'. ESPN shows the games on international sats https://www.ontvtonight.com/guide/listings/channel/69034944/espn-caribbean.html?dt=2023-01-08 I can't get things to link right to show the games on the 7th but if you can get to that ontvtonight.com site it shows the titans-jags live for sat on ESPN carribean on its web page. ESPN international also shows all playoffs and SB.
  14. Flip the coin and passengers who flew in and are waiting to take the next cruise can have it as bad or even worse. You fly in early and get a hotel. It doesn't matter how you planned to get to the ship the hotel says the morning of the cruise your stay is over and it 10am leaving time so get off the property now-period. If you say we bought a shuttle pass with the hotel can answer we will run the shuttle runs from noon-2pm and we will take you but don't care if ship is there or not and must drop you off. Happened to me on a CCL cruise out of Jacksonville. Luckily i was on the 2nd half of a b2b. Did you know in the port of Jacksonville they can have traffic jams so long even at night you can't see the end of the traffic jam from the top deck?
  15. twkbear I only went one night and left in the middle of the meal after 3 of us were served nearly raw fish, and the waiter did not return after taking our plates. That is truly scary. I'm beginning to think maybe the lowest crew members decide making this food or doing that in housekeeper takes the most time so just say fudge it we are out of that item. Having a cook or waiter knowingly deciding to cook and serve nearly raw meat/fish/poultry and cross contamination is mind blowing.
  16. Your reply fits many pieces of the puzzle. If NCL is playing the long game and thinking retaining loyal passengers and attracting the new but not cheap as heck looky loo's cruisers is worth taking loses now if they can survive.
  17. If MSC doesn't use USA suppliers for the ships here i find that amazing. It just seems it would easier and cheaper once set up. Dairy products must be bought locally i would think.I took several years off from cruising and this may sound silly but things like MSC french fries, hot dogs, and hamburgers just didn't taste and look size wise like our USA stuff. And don't get me started on condiments. Nothing burns my toast more than off brand cheap condiments . Good review. If my next MSC isn't good bye bye MSC.
  18. Maybe i should have said what they offer now as bonuses and deals misses the mark for me but thats the way it goes. For example i always drive to the port, i never take excursions or booze or wifi etc... I really like NCL and maybe if my upcoming cruises on MSC and CCL are lousy i'll open the purse strings wider. I really love O'Sheehan's. When staring at a Guy's burger on CCL i think to myself i couldn't been at O'Sheehan.. if CCL brings back the free tiny fish and chips and fried oysters stand they replaced with a fee based seafood stand oh boy i'd be happy. Darn i hungry.
  19. I'm cruising again and always going solo getting the inside gty and looking for bargains and flexible to travel last minute. NCL seems to be now deals for 2-4 passengers and free flights and kids free and free excursions and get our booze and wifi package and so on. Unless i'm missing something the fares for solo cheap as heck passengers like me now stinks on toast even last minute. NCL,CCL, and MSC were always my choices in that order if prices were close but darn as much as i love O'Sheehan's pub i guess it is bye bye.
  20. There is a Murphy's Law and joke about packing that goes something like if you have 10 minutes or 10 months that is how long it will take.
  21. Take a bag of frozen french fries and throw it on a counter top for a few hours until they are completely thawed. Now toss them in a oil fryer at a temp of 300 degrees or lower. Wait. i don't care how long you wait it doesn't matter. The french fry will be a warm oil soaked soggy mess best relabled as poopy helper.
  22. You will be put in whatever cabin category they have available. I have been in outside cabins that slept 4 and i was solo and booked inside guaranteed. When a ship isn't near capacity close to sailing 1 passenger is better than a empty cabin to the cruise line.
  23. I have booked less than 48 hours before the cruise but that was before covid. MSC is the cheapest if you don't have to go out of Charleston. Personally if i was booking within 30 days of the cruise i'd go with booking with the cruise line directly unless i was getting a incredible once in a life time deal. When you book with a travel agent 99% of the time the cruise line says work it out with your travel agent when you have questions or problems. You "I don't have my cabin assignment and paperwork yet" to the carnival phone rep Carnival rep "call your travel agent"
