Check your credit cards to see if any cover the cost.  Some of the American Express cards do.

Yes, our AMEX will pay for it!  Thank you!

  2. We will be disembarking on a Friday and flying out on Saturday.  We will be staying at the Hilton that is attached to the airport.  We would like to take a train from the hotel to a place to visit outside of Amsterdam ( as we will have visited Amsterdam prior to the cruise.) We hope to take a train from the airport station somewhere.  Where should we go?  We probably don't want to have too long a day trip, 6 hours roundtrip would be good. We do need to visit a place where we don't need a car and is easy to walk around.

    Thank you!

  3. We are Diamond members and we booked a suite. I'm wondering if there are two different venues? Does one offer more than the other? On one ship, I think it was the Radiance, both lounges were in the same area and we freely moved from one to the other. I believe the Suite lounge offered a cocktail hour and the Diamond lounge did not. The Diamond lounge had appetizers. (And we met wonderful people in both!) I looked on Youtube and I saw a video of the Voyager of the Seas lounge that looked very nice with windows. On this Cruisecritic site, someone said the suite lounge in in the interior of the ship. My DH and I were just discussing which ship has an interior Suite lounge and we cannot figure it out. (Too many cruises!)  In any case, what does the Explorer offer?

I'm sorry this is too long, but it was fun to write!

I believe that is your best strategy; be sure to sign up for enrollment on arrival, I posted the link before but here it is again https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival

I want to sincerely thank you for your information and helpfulness.  we have downloaded the mobile app and my husband will enter the info today. We don't need it until July '24 when we go to Europe. We haven't been there in 5-6 years.  You are very kind.

You don't get precheck (pre-flight).  At the end of the day, global is $100 for 5 years or $20/pp a year to save time standing in line both pre-flight and post-flight

We already have the TSA pre flight. It’s good until next August. Then we will probably get the Global Entry. What do you think?

Global Entry is totally worth the process involved to get it!

We only need the Global Entry for this one trip from the Amsterdam airport to the U.S. We are wondering if it is worth it since we have the TSA pre-check for travel in the USA. I'm wondering how difficult it is to go through the process without the Global Entry.

  7. We will be disembarking at the cruise port and then plan to take a taxi to an airport hotel to drop off our luggage.  Then we hope to take a train to the city for the day and return to the hotel. We have an early plane the next day.

Is this a good idea?  Is there a train stop close to a hotel that is close to the airport?  Suggestions would be appreciated. Which hotel do you suggest?

    Thank you!

Usually bottom section on left, just below upper section. Usually part of 3 or 4 rows. A couple of time have seen it split with part in bottom of upper section or in middle.

If we get there early enough, may we sit in the front row? (My husband takes pictures, no flash, of course.) Are those seats reserved?

  9. I actually posted this on the main board because I thought people on other cruises might have experienced this.

And the reason why I don’t see the title highlighted is that it is my posting. So I’ve already looked at it. I realize this after I asked the question.

Thank you everyone for the responses.

    No.
None except you can order room service from the dining room menu during the hours it is open.

Thank you. Too bad.  Does RCCL offer Chops for free on the first night? We just booked it for the first night in case they don't.  First nights in the dining room always seems to be disorganized.  I cannot figure why that is, but we try to avoid the first night there.
