  1. IF...crew appreciation and wifi were included in the base fare, then we would pay taxes on the "new" enhanced total. Currently, we pay taxes on the base fare. Insurance is calculated on base fare. If you include gratuities, then the price of the base fare would increase AND we would pay a few extra pennies/well $$ for adding the cost of crew appreciation. Princess can not and never will please everyone. Some days, my math brain is just too tuckered out to run numbers. Other days, it is like a game and challenges my mind. I consider it pre-cruise foreplay.
  2. I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. Sometimes my "humor" is interpreted in a different way than I had intended. I apologize for my comment and take no offense to being chastised by you. Eating humble pie tonight.
  3. Just heard from a friend who returned on a b2b to Hawaii on the Sapphire. Ended the cruise with 100+ covid cases (as announced by the captain). Discovery had norovirus. Others have reported returning from other ships with the cruise crud. Guess cruising is "back to normal".
  4. Princess is flagged. in a foreign country for various reasons. I do not understand why posters believe they should/shouldn't "tip" because they are traveling in the United States (Mexico/coastals/Hawaii/Caribbean, etc). Granted, the majority of the passengers on these voyages are American, but it does not make it an American tipping culture. I really miss the onboard cards that go directly to the supervisors and then handed down to the crew. The survey is a great place to let corporate know how the crew did, but there is only room for 3 names. And then, the crew never sees these comments. Bring the cards back.
  5. As always, you present very good points. I pre-paid with emotions. I did not like Princess raising the prices of everything. Made modifications on several cruises. And your suggestion to take the difference and hand it out at the end...is something I have always done. But there will always be those that won't or don't, including the ones that remove more than the increase. I am on the fence as to spreading the crew appreciation fleet wide..........I can see both sides, but would prefer it kept to the ship I was on. From posters, t seems that the crew on most ships really do go above and beyond.
  6. I just did that on my Medallion Class App. Got the 4 device for $10/day (Elite discount) for a cruise 2023. You bet I took a screenshot since it is not showing up on my personalizer. And even though I will have enough OBC to cover crew appreciation, I pre-paid it to lock in current rate.
  7. I'll play their game. Pre-purchased wifi and crew appreciation before price increase for a cruise in 2023. You pay them now or pay them more later. If I cancel the cruise, I will get a refund. No beverage package for this port intensive cruise. They would get my money anyway. They will just get less.
  8. I agree with the Mini-bar Elite Perk....if you have a beverage package. But several Elites do not care to purchase a beverage package. I would hate to see Princess eliminate this perk. They have removed so many already. May I suggest that you just gift it to your steward or MDR staff. Ask them what they would like, then exchange the mini bar to make them happy. I know they always welcome bottled water. Some are happy to receive the alcohol. Just ask them.
  9. Oh, correct. "Wasting" such a dessert would be such a travesty! (Sorry for the sarcasm, twice...)
  10. I have asked my TA to apply second passenger's FCD and was told it would only count toward payment since it was not a "new" but existing booking. As in most cases @Steelers36 is again correct. I "thought" packages could not be shared...therefore it would be "illegal for @c-boy to indulge in wife's calories. It's way over the top for my taste buds. I have to tone down the "volcano" when I order it. ********* right on. @caribill Thanks for the history lesson. Princess doesn't seem to learn from their modifications. 3 shows ALWAYS worked. With seating capacity below 700...there is no way everyone every day would be able to enjoy the shows in the Princess Theater. But then again, what else would you be doing $$: Casino $$. Shopping $$. Having a cocktail $$.
  11. I can just envision the chaos this will bring to the theater. Princess, in the past, has not really think things through to the nth degree. Like DMW, there will be growing pains. It would have been much simpler to have 3 shows a night.
  12. I can not speak for those in Australia. But you could inquire. I had my first two plus 2 boosters plus the bivalent one (total of 5). I did a B2B for 25 days and walked away free of Covid. Good Luck. Hope you get to enjoy your cruise.
  13. A recent news article just reported that only 1 in 20 haven't gotten COVID. Count yourself as the minority. https://www.adn.com/nation-world/2022/11/27/just-1-in-20-people-in-the-us-have-dodged-covid-infection-so-far-study-says/
  14. Dear Princess, How about enhancing some of the suite perks for your passengers? I'm paying much more than the premier beverage package and only getting a complimentary mini-bar (and granted, a few "extra" perks). I would like to be included in the reserved theater seating group. How much would that cost your bottom line? Thank you. Your loyal and obedient servant.
  15. This season (and may be only this past season), many of the passengers who did the land portion first caught covid and missed their cruise. I haven't done a cruise tour in a long time, but I would opt for the land portion first and then relax on the cruise (pre-covid days). I would choose the Sapphire/Grand over a Royal Ship. Nicer promenade deck and viewing areas. Less people. I am a Grand Princess Cheerleader but the Sapphire is probably a better sister ship.
  16. I'd report him to bureau of conveyances. Did you get his taxi number? Broken meter? Hmmmm
  17. Would someone explain why (as Elite or Platinum) I would get one device for $7.50 but have to pay $20 for 4 devices if I do not get the beverage package? It used to be $5/one and $10/4. That does not seem an equitable exchange. And, someone mentioned reserved seating in the theater? I don't see that either.
  18. Thanks for the details. I don't see anywhere that says theater reservations. Does this mean they will INCREASE military benefits and/or CCL Shareholder credits? I was on the fence with Princess Plus. I have it for one of my three 2023 cruises. Guess that's it for me. It was a convenient expense before. Not now. Love they way they snuck in the crew appreciation and wifi increases.
  19. @Steelers36you always make sense. Now I remember the 90/45 day rule. Oops.
  20. @Ombud I already knew your answer. OP was asking about AFTER final payment. I was curious too. Thanks
  21. Thanks @Ombud and @Steelers36. Let me get this straight. If I booked a flexible fare AND made final payment....If fare goes down: 1. There is no change fee 2. I will get a refund of the difference returned to my credit card? That seems like a win-win situation to use EZ Air. I do understand making changes before final payment. Never tried to do after final payment.
  22. Have you already made final payment on your cruise and EZ Air? Not sure if that would make a difference.
  23. Here's a plan. Rent your car for the first day. Do all you want and return the car late at night. No paying for overnight parking. You can enjoy your second day leisurely. Plan your day well so you are not doubling back and forth. No problem being on Princess Thread. You will get more responses here. And I beg to differ....I hate driving when I come home. Luckily, I know all the ins and outs and detours. Most drivers are overly polite. They will stop to let people in on the freeway or out of a driveway. Just be alert.
  24. I was once on a ship docked at some Caribbean port. Two men were arrested for doing something unacceptable (by local laws) on their balcony. I do not have any more particulars.
