  1. If you don't find it in the buffet, Room Service might have them. Order several to stash in your room. You can always take them up to the Buffet to get the milk.
  2. @Thrak Goes to show you how long ago I was on the Coral (aka sister to Island). I know, I was too lazy to look up the deck plan. Another fail; tried to do it with the Medallion Class App. Even if I selected another ship, it defaulted to the one that I am going to be on next. I do miss that ship. As for the Royal Class ships...Not to my liking so having been on any of them.
  3. Thanks for making me feel normal. I’m am “slightly” less than that.
  4. While we are on missed connections...How about Curtis Stone's Share? Or Salty Dog Gastro Pub? Removing Vista Lounge on the Island? Smaller balconies/no wrap around Promenade? Princess Live? Did I miss any (I am sure I did)?
  5. @MN Syrup Cruiser I am sorry. I am still confused. Yes, I am the one that posted the floor plan (above) on the "Window Suite vs Vista Suite on Grand Princess" and my "Bits and Pieces" threads. I am not trying to be difficult. I just don't understand what you are trying to get across to me.
  6. Just curious since I pack much of the same "incidentals"...are you able to do this with just a carry on?
  7. One day...one day... Even when I pack to go to Hawaii....and ALL of my clothes are there and I could take just a toothbrush...I end up with two 26" suitcases, my CPAP, my carry on...and food for the flight over. Sigh. How do you guys do it? Do you hire out your services? I may have done it once or twice in my travel life time.
  8. I've only used EZ Air once (one way). Go ahead...it won't cost you anything up until final payment (usually 90 days before January 2024). You can make changes if price drops. This compares to booking independent fares that you would have to pay outright with/without cancellation options. Buys you time. Is convenient. Great back up plan.
  9. I am not sure what you are referring to when you suggest that I scroll down past the photos. Please clarify?
  10. I admire anyone who can manage traveling with a carry on for a cruise. I have my CPAP, computer bag, and an assortment of "must haves" for the cabin. Not to mention clothes and shoes. I keep telling myself....some day, I will learn how to travel lighter.
  11. I do not recall when I found it, but the person who did the drawing once chimed in to let me know who he/she was. Unfortunately, I never kept his/her details to give them credit. I am so thrilled to have run across this floor plan.
  12. I read the book under recommendation from another poster. If you are familiar with Princess ships, it was a fascinating read. I borrowed a copy of the book through my library…to read while on the Grand. Thank you for your input. Hope you remained safe and healthy.
  13. You either have to pre-order (shipped out 2 weeks before cruise) or pick it up when you check in. If you don't want to deal with the Medallion Class App at all, be sure to bring hard copies of required documents.
  14. Thrak is absolute correct in his description. Visiting the USS Arizona Memorial is one of the easiest things to do...but does require pre-planning. In addition to reserving tickets, the NPS has very strict what you can carry in to the park. If you just want to walk around the museums and view the Memorial from a distance, then nothing more is required. You will need a ticket for the movie, the launch, and to step on to the Memorial. https://www.nps.gov/perl/index.htm
  15. @SiliconCruiserYou are spot on with Roberts and doing Hawaii on your own...with a few exceptions The night-time luaus, Polynesian Cultural Center after dark, Hana, and the north shore of Kauai. All of these have reservations due to traffic concerns. Most everything else is very doable on your own or with independent tour companies like Roberts. When I am "home", I give myself plenty of extra time due to traffic.
  16. E. Musk needs to buy out Twitter executives he fired. I wonder how much Princess would have to pay to "release" JP ???? Is there anything that he has done that has been good for the Princess Brand? I welcome you to expound on this.
  17. This option is not available in the United States. Tipping is a personal matter. Do as you please. I'm not the tipping police.
  18. 50/50 chance....and I always pick the wrong elevator. That's why I take the stairs. It only goes to show that Princess really doesn't have to put out a lot of money to entertain their guests. We are so easily humored. And yet, the cuts continue.
  19. Playing Devil's Advocate. If you don't hand your luggage over to the porters....what would you do with them? It's not like they have a drop off/self check baggage counter. Porters are not paid by your cruise fare. They are providing a service. Not arguing, just pointing out the obvious.
  20. More reason to just enjoy the beauty of small town Hilo. Pre-order your mochi from Two Ladies Kitchen, grab a drink of fresh coconut water/spoon meat coconut. Buy some anthuriums to brighten up your cabin. Walk around Coconut Island. I could spend a week or more in Hilo and that side of the island.
  21. Please don't do that. There is so much to see and do in Hilo. Catch a cab. I heard there was a "free" shuttle in to town. Walk around the Farmers' Market. Visit a couple of the museums. Enjoy Liliuokalani Gardens. Browse through the small mom and pop shops.. After the last major tsunami, Hilo built a nice breakwater and green belt park. Further out, there is Rainbow Falls/Boiling Pots. One of the Four King Kamehameha statues is located in Hilo (2 on Hawaii Island, Honolulu, and Washington DC.)
  22. Geography Lesson: The islands were created by one hot spot (shield volcanoes). As the Pacific Plate moved Northwest, new islands were formed with Kauai (of the populated islands) is the oldest. The island chain really goes much further west. Hawaii Volcano National Park is open. https://www.nps.gov/havo/planyourvisit/lava2.htm Mauna Loa and Kilauea do not share the same magma chambers. It is safe as safe can be if you are visiting an active volcano (Kilauea). If you go on your own, you may be able to see: https://www.nps.gov/havo/learn/nature/steam-vents.htm https://www.nps.gov/havo/planyourvisit/day-hike-nahuku.htm https://www.nps.gov/havo/learn/historyculture/volcano-house.htm https://www.nps.gov/havo/planyourvisit/kilaueaupdate.htm There is more to see and drive than time will permit. On a side note: Mauna Kea is the TALLEST mountain in the world when measured from sea bed to summit. If your cruise makes it to the Kona side, there 3 National Parks (Golden Passports) to visit but you will need a car.
  23. I, too, was expecting Trout Almondine for dinner. Pre-ordered it with the Assistant Manager the night before (dietary). Only to find out that there was no trout on the ship. Substituted with Salmon (which I do not care for). I was glad to find out before it was served. I am sure there is a little disclaimer somewhere that says that menu items may be substituted.
  24. Getting back on topic: The Medallion Class App (OceanReady/Travel Checklist) begins working as soon as you download it to your phone/working device. You are able to do most everything needed (to be completed) before boarding...i adding credit cards picking arrival/boarding times uploading passport information/vaccinations cards (if still needed) and a sundry of other forms. ordering wifi ordering accessibility equipment picking out celebratory days booking specialty restaurants The Medallion Class App (JourneyView/OceanNow/OceanCompass) . A few selections may work before boarding: OceanCompass - Explore Ship JourneyView - Selected Activities and Port Guides OceanNow - Dine My Way The rest of the Medallion Class App will be usable once on the ship: Crew Chat Buying FCDs Ordering food and drinks Setting up find your friends and chat My list is NOT inclusive. There are too many functions to mention. As in many of Princess' attempts, they do not clarify between "labels". (case in point: Mini-suites are not full suites). The Medallion Class App has multi-functions. For me, it was through trial and error to figure out how it all fit together in the scheme of Princess.
  25. I do not know what the shuttle situation is (today) in Hilo, but the airport is not far away. 1. If there is a shuttle, they may limit it to just drivers. You will have to return for your passengers. Be sure to check with your rental agency for transportation options. 2. If there is no shuttle, you might find others renting a car (from your roll call) and share a ride to the airport. 3. If you rent from the airport, Hawaii State will nail you with an airport tax. 4. Rental cars in Hawaii are outrageous since the pandemic. Glad you booked on early. I used a local person just outside the gates. He rented old (not older) cars. But the price was right. https://www.hilorentalcars.com One of the best places to refill the tank is across from the airport. Hilo is a short port. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to return the car and get back to the ship. BTW...Hilo is my favorite town. Hawaii Volcano National Park is the number one attraction to visit if you have never been there. Bring along your Senior Golden Passport for free entry. If you had enough...stop by Pahoa to see Lava Tree State Monument. You used to be able to see be able to see a recent flow, but I think they finally cleared the road. Jaggar Museum is suppose to have opened a branch there, but I am unable to provide any link or further information. Maybe the park rangers might know something. http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/parks/hawaii/lava-tree-state-monument/ https://www.nps.gov/havo/recovery.htm @SantaFeFan Hawaii Volcano National Park is part of Kilauea. Mauna Loa is "the other" mountain. "Residing on Hawaii, the Big Island, Kilauea is the world's most active volcano, and ironically, it is also the most easily accessed volcano. Residing merely 15 miles from the giant shield volcano Mauna Loa, Kilauea was once thought to be part of its large neighbor. However, despite its proximity, Kilauea has its own distinct magma chamber. Kilauea resides almost completely within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park." https://www.summitpost.org/kilauea-hawaii-volcanoes-national-park/154791
